  • Hi everyone! I'm Holly and in this video I making soap with Bramble Berry's African Black Soap Quick Mix. This soap mix was gifted by Bramble Berry. However, this is not a paid advertisement for them. Also - I am definitely planning to make soap videos using the Autumn Cabin fragrances but I just haven't had the time to make soap yet.

      I think this is definitely the easy route but a more involved African Black Soap might be on the agenda soon.

    Wow, what a change - your usual giant slabs make that "regular"-sized loaf look tiny on your counter! I've used the Baraka Black Soap crumbles (that Bramble Berry sells) as an additive - and LOVE the resulting bar - but not the Quick Mix. But now I want to try it, since you made it look so easy and fun, and the bars are beautiful. Ha ha, maybe I'll add some banana to double up on the speckles! 😊

      It was such a teeny tiny batch. Haha! It was fun though. It's nice not having to get an arm workout to make soap. They sent me the crumbles as well. I am looking forward to using them.

    This was great to watch Holly!! I put canola oil in a lot of my soap, I really like it! It's quite moisturizing for the skin I find and one of the more economical oils too. Canola gets a bad rap in cooking but it's great topically!! Try it out, I think you'd like it! 😉

    Holly, This was so much fun to watch! Very interesting as well. I personally have never used a Brambleberry Quick Mix either, so I learned a lot about the process watching your video. Thank you for doing it! It's peaked my interest in trying it for fun. I don't think with the price point of the mix, that you'd make a great profit on the bars, but it would be fun to do! African Black Soap is very much trending, and are a bit more expensive to buy. So I may be wrong about the profit margin, lol!
    This was totally entertaining, watching you mske soap is always a joy! Have a great day, Holly!!!

      Thank you Jill! It was a fun, small batch to make. Super easy! The real test will be to see how my skin likes it. I struggle with higher coconut, etc., and I just don't have a clue what's in it.

    I’m wondering how to put a quick mix through a lye calculator. Does the package have the percentage’s of each oil used in the mix?

    • @moriversoap
      @moriversoap  Před rokem +1

      It confused me at first too because they do not clarify it well. What you do is use the lye calculator at brambleberry.com and choose the quick mix on the oils page.

      I would suggest getting some soapmaking books and doing more research. You don't seem ready be handling a caustic material.

    Fun video Holly! If you want to learn how to make African Black Soap from scratch check out my channel. It has been a fun journey going to the Ghana Soap School and learning the basics of black soap. Brambleberry has made a cute mix and like all their mixes is easy for beginners. Baraka has some great crumbles too if you want to make your own mix of CP and ABS blends like this. I formulate for Baraka and love using their raw ingredients. Excellent video hon! I love how it feels like a solid bodywash when you use it in its pure form. I really hope you enjoy your first experience with ABS! xoxoJen
