I don't think speeding past the gate opening is the intended solution. It's possible to get to Level 1-7 with only two levels beaten prior.
Before beating level Map-0, pause and Return to Map. Use the invisible path to go to level Map-1, don't beat it, pause and Return to Map. Use the invisible path to go to World 1, beat 1-1 and 1-6.
