If the sea emperor wasnt friendly then it would be absolutely terrifying... imagine if it could make you go insane by constantly whispering
Horror spin off incoming?
It was originally supposed to be hostile
Wasnt it suggested to be dangerous in one of the first trailers?
@@Kuba_plays_games yes but then they made the sea dragon (which is why they kinda look similar)
"Die. Now die. Now die."
"Dead. They are all dead."
"Rot. Rot away."
ideas for evil spooky voices
I think the reason the architects couldn’t hear the Sea Emperor’s telpathy is because they’re not organic. They are data given sentience and bodies.
They also talk to each other through a network, so they probably just kept talking, but yes, also because they aren't fully organic and are just sentience from data in a mainly organic shell (for Al-An at least, I don't know about the others)
@@Omniscient_AIi think that network probably shuts down foreign attempts at the telepathy.
Or they simply couldn’t hear her call due to their brain structures. Maybe the Emperor got lucky that a more primal species found her.
Isn't it just because she didn't talk to them
@@AstralArbourSys no she mentions how the others were "ignorant to her call" probably since they couldn't hear her
yeah. they basically thought no animal could know as much or even more than them
The thing is, the sea emperor could easily skewer any leviathan that gets in their way, but they are peaceful creatures, (and the leviathans are smart enough to leave them alone)
I think it's more that Sea Emperors secrete a substance that calms nearby organisms.
Any that we know off. We still want to know what the alpha in the void looks like >:)
@@TaskForce-ql3bxthe what in the void?
@@nyarlathotepthecrawlingcha969 the alpha species, the current apex predator. Or any other species that live deeper past the edge of the abyss. For all we know the large Ghost Leviathans and Void Chalicerates are at the bottom of their food chains in there.
Yeah the PDA entry for ghost leviathans says they “never stop growing” so maybe that’s why no other leviathan has the balls to go into the void
I didn’t know the kharaa killed so many, that’s actually impressive in a twisted sort of way
What a K/D ratio!
@@iAletho *gets bitten by random insect on alien planet* "Plus 143 billion assists!"
You should read the pda files. Everything is learned from them
And just a human and a random superfish stoped the thing
Also in below zero we managed to farm it safely making it possible to eradicate khaara from the galaxy

The sea emperor is a tragic tale, but at least it managed to get a happy ending. Thanks for doing justice for this amazing creature!
i love the sea emperor she just wants her children to have a good life
Dude me to she is good mom that was all she wanted r:i:p sea emperor the best leviathan mom
Typical mothers wish children have good life (I also love the sea emperor)
I hope that ability to make animals calm in their presence is working when they’re born cause it’s rough out there on 4546B.
I wouldn't worry about that too much, they get big fast
Id hate to imagine that when they tried to go out and save the planet, attempting to get past the void, they ended up meeting ghost leviathans and losing some, or a worse leviathan had sea emperor for dinner
I always thought of the seemingly throw away line of "The visions are getting worse" from Bart as just delirium taking hold of him from the infection and never as the Sea Emperor talking to him, but now that I've heard it...that makes perfect sense.
The revelation has my jaw on the floor.
Bart had so much potential man. It’s a shame what happened to the degasi crew. I hope Marguerite has a role to play in subnautica 3, and I hope Riley comes back as well. Imagine if the two of them met
Peepers are the true MVPs man. They may get attacked but they form a symbiosis with our Big Space Mama, saving everyone on the crater
When I first watched the sea emperor die I pause and said “you…you ok their sea? Oh dear god is she dead?”
The I took a closer look and realised she was dead and I got sad
Sea emperors were the biggest creature to ever exist.
Gargantuan leviathan: alow me to introduce myself
Good thing those humongous predators died out or are just few in number or else It'd be a planet full of Jormugandrs!
The big skeleton is an adult. There's a smaller skeleton somewhere else.
Remember ya'll, this all started because of some curious architect kicking ONE rock.
I think in earlier betas the Sea Emperor was friendly unless you damaged her eggs, in which case she'd kill you.
Reasonable
@@escaped_cephalopodDefinitely a well-earned nonstandard Game Over imo. Like you're stranded on an alien planet, dying of an alien disease, any rescue that came and will come gets shot down by the same alien quarantine enforcement that shot you and yours down, and this alien prisoner who's been keeping the planet alive for a millennium asks you to help her help you, and you kill her unborn kids, her one reason to live? Kinda deserved it.
sea emperor is probably one of my favourite characters in fiction
fought to cling to life for so long just to ensure that life on the planet would still be around to be saved when someone arrived who could help hatch the eggs
any time i reach the hatching cutscene i usually spend way too long hanging around with her just to say goodbye before leaving so she can finally have her well earned rest
❤
You must not see a lot of media than
@@nolifejohnson5129 it's his opinion, and i agree with him.
She’s my favorite creature in the game and I actually kinda have to say the same to for the best mama ever I mean she’s just one of my if not favorite characters in fiction
Architects: The Leviathans are too big for study.
Also Architects: *Makes huge aquarium for Leviathan*
Maybe the architect weren't able to hear the sea emperor due to lacking a physical body, mind or something
It is pretty cool that the sea emperor essentially saved the planet's life
Yeah that’s what I was thinking after playing below zero. Since they are made out of both biological and mechanical parts and there minds can be uploaded and put into storage I just thought that it was a more mechanical mind that the sea emperor couldn’t speak with telepathically. That or she wasn’t tuned into the right radio frequency in their heads lol.
Or because they see eachother as the same and communicate very different from humans and sea emperors
The main reason the Sea Emperor couldn’t communicate with the Architects is most likely because their brains were mechanical
keep up the work man i dont even play subnautica anymore but i love watching your content
Thanks Halfchicken! Glad to see you're still around :)
*I believe that she's not the only one, there's a bunch of Sea Emperors around.*
My theory it's that they live very deep, and only come to surface to lay eggs, where she got captured. Probably there's a bunch more, buuuut they live where the Ghost Leviathans live, so made sense the Architects never went to find another one...
and at minimum with the cut early content from below zero the baby sea emperors have all grown up healthy and happy meaning.
the potential for the species to return exponitially is now possible even if wild sea emperors are near extinct.
But if there are no other sea emperors left other dan them dan they are doomed to die out
Sea Emperors reproduce asexually, meaning there won’t be any inbreeding. The species will be back :)
Now I personally don’t realllllly believe this due to kharrah this most likely is not true remember that if they were did exist kharrah would be gone and the planet saved but since there is still kharrah she is the last one left and saying that it’s just that part look at below zero the frozen levithan got kharrah so yes she is the last one but she did hatch her eggs and there will be more when they reproduce
@@proffesor_axolotl All species on the planet can reproduce on their own as long as environmental conditions are right
Wow.
Fascinating.
I had no idea the story was this complex and deep.
Thank you for taking the time to narrate and animate this terrific story.
The hammer head shape that the sea emperor has could be a form of senser like what hammerhead sharks have
It feels like i am watching national geographic, but it is subnatica. Thanks for the amazing video.😮😊
Thats exactly why I like it😂
The subnautica lore king is back 💪
Back from the depths!

I NEW IT!! Sea emperors are relatives with sea dragons!
Those aliens fucked up when they decided to fuck with a mothers eggs specially when that mother is a fucking dragon.
Man, I thought I knew Subnautica's lore pretty well, but there are a lot of things you went over that I simply overlooked in my playthroughs or didn't connect the dots on lol
Anyways, great video! I just now found your channel through this one, but I love your editing style and look forward to seeing more!
I love your videos on Subnautica! They never get tiring to me!
Are you gonna do creature analysis videos on every creature in subnautica? It’d be really cool if you did, I’ve been obsessing over the crabsquids, mesmers, and BoneSharks (A deep dive into the Peeper space program would also be cool, as today I learned they make great projectiles)
I’ve been waiting for a while to get this video!
Glad it’s here, amazing video : )
MAN THIS GUYS BIG BRAIN I DIDNT EVEN THINK OF USING INFORMATION FROM SUBNAUTICA BELOW ZERO AND SUBNAUTICA
I have a theory on what the sea emporers arms where for, they where probably used for defence and it was probably this atack method that inspired the main attack method for the warper.
I love your videos man! ❤ keep up great work
(Don't read if you don't want spoilers) And also Al-an from below zero leaded that Sea emperor -project.
I still like to hold onto the hope a few groups of Sea Emperors with the Enzyme 42 producing mutation did manage to survive the outbreak. They probably had to be more spread than before, but perhaps there might still have been enough microscopic lifeforms to feed a few small groups.
How the Emperor Juveniles could be more fun:
- Obviously, they make sounds 🔊 and depending on what they feel.
- Can haul large amounts of cargo!📦
- Help find minerals by blowing 🌬️ at the ground to reveal them.💎
- Each juvenile is unique! e.g the one in the most friendliest environment has barnacles and a reef 🪸 on the back like the reefback leviathan while another in the most hostile environment has some gnarly battle ⚔️ damage around their body from fending off off attackers and some missing tentacles and eyes that would soon regenerate.
- They can communicate 🗣️ telepathically 🔮 but not as good as the ancient sea empress since they're younger.
- 🐕Petting animations!🐈 Cuz I think that's cute!❤
- You can hitch a ride 🏇 by grabbing either of the 4 head structures. 3:33
- Or you can build some sci-fi advanced saddle to control their movement.
- You can hide 🥷 in their mouth in case a predator 🦈 is stupid enough to approach you despite being around a massive creature.
- You can play🤽 with them to make them happy and put a collar🔔 with their name on.
- Protects you from other aggressive leviathans like blocking their view to you.
- Sleeping animations.
- Their body armor 🛡️ gives them massive defense but their eyes are a weakness
- Enzyme 42 can be yummy 😋 but I'm not an expert 🤔
- Last but not least, you can create some chainsaw⛓️ 🪚 tusks 🦣 that are worn on their heads if you want them to do more damage!
What else could your think of to make them more fun?
i thought i understood this game's lore but this video made me truly understand the lore and made me wanna play it again 😅
love your videos man keep it up💪
the sea emperor is also in the game's trailer (i think the early access one?) and seems to roar at the end of it.
Alrighty.. I am gonna try to bet again..
5$ that the Squid Shark is next.
(Also, great video!)
Squid shark video would be AMAZING
i love your vids so much and i just love this game
Glad you enjoy it Galaxygamer :)
The Sea emperor probably just didn't want to let the Architects know how to hatch them to protect them
You should do a mini series with 3 smaller creatures per episode like rock punchers squidsharks and ice stalkers just a suggestion
Cause I dont think theirs any leviathans left
I'll keep it in mind Sealord!
bro can insert reason for new viewers to watch multiple videos in a row, E P I C
I like the architects idea of "if it tries to come just blow it the hell up"
finally the sea emperor, nice video about the story
I like the headcanon of the Sea Emperor's roommate creatures being told to shut the fuck up and behave via telepathy. Straight mom behavior so that everyone could live in peace XD
Valid
Fish raised inside an ACU are also passive. I think they are passive simply because it was in an enclosed.
Ahh yes, nothing like waking up and seeing aletho has posted a new banger
Its a miracle how forgiving the sea emperor was despite the expirementation she went through and how 2 of her offsprings were literally murdered
Thanks thanks that you made now a video for the sea emperor❤
We got there in the end :) I wanted to finish the series with the most important one!
@@iAletho yes but it’s sad that it’s now an end 🥲
@@iAletho Do you mean these types of videos are over, or just the leviathans being completed?
@Gracefulwarrior2124 The plan was always to cover the leviathans :) I might do some other creatures in the future, but have no immediate plans to at the moment :)

I loved the Shadow Leviathan ambush at the end.
Never thought they'd be intelligent enough to use telportation technology, but whelp, here we are.
Just so you know, the sea emperor is bigger than Godzilla
Nice keep up the great work and what if the other leviathans were trying to warn you about kharaa but did not know that they could kill you with they're warnings but they were trying to get you to the sea emperor
My theory is that the Sea Emperor felt resentmet towards the architecs. In some of the dialoges it has with the player it mentions: "I will give you freely what the others tried in vain to take" and "To you, I give the secret willingly", revealing that even with the world ending, it saw the architects as "unworthy" beings, or at least not deserving to know how the enzymes worked. Why?
Let's remember that the Sea Emperor is pretty inteligent, to the point of being phylosophical and undersating how it's chamber worked, being aware that it conected to the outside sea through pipes and that the big thing in the middle was a portal. It even knew the specifics on how to make the enzymes to fully imitate the perfect breeding conditions for it's eggs. It had both intelligence, counciousness and a sense of morality.
It's possible that it tried to communicate with the architects through it's psychic powers, but the architets weren't able to get the message. Chances are the Sea Emperor TRIED to communicate with the through other ways but the architets treated it like a regular animal that just happened to be useful, and far from trying to get it's help they simply use it like a resource and nothing else. Having no regard for it's life, it's eggs, or any other life. The Sea Emperor probably took notice and decided to not cooperate with them, and instead trying to find it's own way to solve the problem while being confined. That's probably how it realized it could send peepers with small portions of the enzyme.
Then we came to the planet and we could actually understood it, and the game unfolded from there
It’s heartwarming how the babies were able to grow and keep the species alive
I want to see Mesmer next! Would be cool.
Yaaaaay another one of these
Thans for the advise
No problem Watermelon!
A thousands years old civilization
"Unmatched in size"
Gargantuan Leviathan: am i a joke to you?
That ones dead! xD
@iAletho well, technically speaking, so's that sea emporor. It died later on, sure it had children, but they weren't nearly it's size.
The architects probably werent able to hear the emperors call because they are half machines and do not have brains in a way needed for the telepathy as we see the architect body in subnautica below zero
Warning: Don't read this if you'll just say "I ain't reading all that"
My theory is that the cuddlefish were originally hostile leviathans (bigger than the current cuddly cuddlefish) about the size of a reaper leviathan, and the architect scientists studied the eggs. They somehow replicated the leviathan offspring and created the cuddlefish, which they suspected may be immune to the kharaa due to it being artificial. They were able to make it so that the leviathan's descendants (The Cuddlefish) were the size of a tiny leviathan offspring when full grown, hence the reason the cuddlefish is so small.
When the Cuddlefish was found to not be immune, the architects ended their experiments on the cuddlefish and only had 5 eggs left. The architects left the eggs in several different areas, not knowing they were in a frozen-like status.
The leviathans most likely preyed on everything smaller than them, before the eggs were stolen and tested on. After the Cuddlefish were created, they most likely evolved into eating algae or crustacean-like creatures that were on the planet.
All before They discovered the Sea Emperors could produce Enzyme 42....
Hence leading to the great Sea Emperor experiments 😀
Idk why but everything I see the sea emperor it gives me the chills
Maybe its the Telepathy :P
@@iAletho maybe
14:20 The Architects couldn't sense the sea emperor's telepathic influence because when studying things at the quarantine enforcement base you can find some evidence that the Architects possessed much more advanced psychology than other creatures and thus they were probably resistant to psychic influences.
Also, even though I haven't looked into Subnautica: Below Zero much, I believe that it is pointed out that the Architects used to transplant their minds from their original biological bodies to biomechanical ones, so this is another point to consider when talking about why the Architects were unsuccessful in hatching the sea emperor's eggs.
I didn't know that you can follow the kids and see them grow!
10:00 he angy
A masters decided to make the story
When i firstly saw her i thought she was the final boss and starting attacking her with the suit
Those messages from her didn’t help elude her friendliness? Not even the one where she says she wants to help?
So do mesmers
@@lazy_guy_2525 ....... fair point
Does that mean from what I was just listening to that is the karaa goes dormant doesn’t that mean that I mean character once going back to earth could potentially gain the cooler again meaning that he could infect his entire planet?
I mean, sea emperors can literally tall in your language inside your head via telepathy, wth, of course they are fucking incredible
I love how in subnautica lore, fish poop is the key to saving the galaxy
✨Sparkly✨ fish poop
I love subnautica and to me, you’re the best youtuber for that game. Keep it up 👍🏻
Do you do your own thumbnails? They're amazing
If the sea empourer was hostile I would be fucking terrified I’m already scared of green water irl
I think I know why the architects couldn’t hear the emperor. From al lan in below zero we know the precursors had biological and mechanical ‘components’ as they called it in their artificial form. They may have had a computer unit as the brain to store their conscious, we know this doesn’t mean they’re robots because of the transfer facility. This computer brain possibility may be why the architects couldn’t hear the emperor. To those who are confused here, in subnautica below zero, the second game, robin finds a precursor facility able to store the soul and thoughts of creatures. The architects quickly built more efficient bodies for themselves and transferred there. We don’t know what their fully biological form was like, but we know they built themselves with organic and mechanical parts
You'd think that the architects would be able to analyze the sea emperor DNA and find the gene for enzyme 42, then insert that gene into a bacterial plasmid for mass reproduction like what we've done with insulin. Aren't the architects supposed to be a super technologically advanced race? Also, I find it odd that a single bacteria species is so deadly across so many different species from so many different planets.
Oh well. The Subnautica story is cool enough that I won't begrudge such plot holes. And who knows, maybe alien biology is just that different from Earth biology (although that's such a copout).
Well there might some problems with you see the khara isn't any old bacteria in fact it has some extremely terrifyingly fasy mutation rate Like a virus and along with that we've already seen bacteria evolve to be completely immune to most antibiotics maybe the architects did discover a cure for one variant but there were thousands more per day along with that I have a sneaking suspicion that enzyme 42 is an enzyme designed to kill all bacteria as such it made it capable of killing khara even with it's mutation rate even more evidence to back this up is in the brain eating ameoba which never evolved to fight against the immune system but it can completely ignore most modern treatment methods and kill you suoer fast
thanks to this video i now know i should use a precision laser to cook this thing
I always name and color my vehicles after the creatures in the game, and the Neptune Rocket, the one that saves my life and brings me home, is always called Emperor. ❤
I have a suggestion could you do a video about aurora?
It’s weird how some of my favorite video game characters are a cowboy and a giant fish
I don’t know if it’s just for being part of the sequel or not, I assume it is since you use Alan’s design for the Precursors, but just in case it’s implied the reason the Sea Emperor wasn’t heard by any of the Precursors is because they work like a hive mind with every thought and voice echoing in their head, one extra voice would be unnoticeable especially with a population as big as theirs.
Seeing how the architects treated the sea emperors make me happy they nearly went extinct because damn, poor big mama.
my favorite moment was the sea dragon trying to get her egg 😅😅😅
Wait so If the crater only survived because of the Emperor, how is there life in sector Zero?
Why did i think for a sec it was kabutops commanding an army of omastar in the thumbmail lmfao
14:20 architec seem to be sort of hive mind with robotic implant maybe the Sea Empror cannot communicate of that
She also says I will give you freely what other tried to take or something like that so I think even if she could she wouldn’t want to lol
Idk bout you but, id love it if the subnautica team had many more creatures and areas planned, but thought it was too much work and just made the kharaa to explain why. Thats what id do as a game dev
I need to redownload both and actually get the endings (I didn't have the patience to harvest everything I needed in the first one and I encountered a bug that prevents me from finishing the story)
Answer me
How are you so good at making videos
I love them and do you have any other channel
WOW
I think the sea emperor is called that because it's like a hybrid of the reaper, ghost, and sea dragon
Are you doing a video of Architects next because you should
Do a video on the Ion cubes and the Architects plz
You should make a video about Pengwings if you haven't already 🐧
Did u know al-an did something wrong with the karra
I personally believe the architects couldn't hear the Sea Emperor because they were in their own closed server so to speak, like trying to send a physical letter to a chatroom
The first three statements saying it was the superior creature and the most intelligent and the biggest as those may seem right the sea emperor is dwarfed compared to the gargantuan lleviathan
So, I’ve always wondered, imagine if ryley was immune to khrara? At most, they still get the green gunk on them, only thing is it doesn’t hurt them or their body, the gunk is just… there, null
Wait… So there are just a bunch of Sea emperors roaming around the void
The architects may wasn't able to ear the sea empror because of their hive mind or they was too advanced so the sea empror's primitive comunication has no effects on them.
