    Very important to keep clean. My folks had stopped using their dryer because vent was so clogged that it just steamed their clothes instead of drying them! I pulled the dryer out and used a leaf blower to force everything through. No luck until I realized that the outlet was on the roof. I got up there and removed the vent cap and tried again. My mother said it looked like Mt. Vesuvius erupting into the sky! 🤣 All good after that.

      That is a GREAT idea! I happen to have the world's most powerful backpack leaf blower (Echo PB-9010T). This is gonna be fun! Plus, it's a short distance to the vent outlet on the other side of the wall. So, shouldn't be any major issues.

    Good call on adding it! It’s such an easy upsell and a totally necessary service! One of the leading causes of house fires is a dirty dryer vent. I’ve personally done hundreds of them and they’re honestly a ton of fun to do. We found that any couplers in the line lead to snags so watch for that!

    • @morpro4u
      @morpro4u Před 2 lety

      It's a very neglected responsibility on maintaining a House! Another thing too is many vents don't have a safety screen on the outside and if people don't have one installed highly advised! Otherwise you take the chance of critters crawling in through the vent and into the dryer....speaking from indirect experience my cousins left to california put his dryer on before he went and while he was gone a rabbit crawled up in the vent somehow got into the dryer while it was still on and died! Destroyed the dryer!

    • @spencers4121
      @spencers4121 Před rokem

      Fire can generate from inside the dryer too, the bottom of the dryer is typically just empty space. And over the years a layer of vent material can build up, one little spark will lite it up. I had this happen to me, the heating element was open at the bottom. And with age one of the elements burned away and fell in the dust.

    My moms drier kept stopping within 4 minutes of being started. Even though she assured me there wasn’t anything wrong with her vents (she lives alone in a 8 year old house), I still got someone out there to clean them. They sent me photos and videos of the cleaning, she had a 4 inch long clog that reduced the vent to a fraction of an inch. Drier works great now, and she cannot believe how much lint there was. Clean your vents! If anything, at least get a DIY kit from the hardware store.

    • @DigitalIP
      @DigitalIP Před 2 lety

      Honestly, for a house that old i dont think it was all that much, at least not in the area they were able to reach.. Theres probably much more in the dryer itself and the dryer duct closest to the dryer.

      do NOT attempt to use the spinning brush on your own, especially if your vent has bends or longer than 10 feet. As somebody who does this for a living, I have seen so many customers get that thing stuck in there all twisted up and had to pay over $500 to get new vent installed.

    When I was 3 or 4, my neighbor’s house burnt down due to a dryer fire, and that’s stuck with me my entire life. I’m compulsive (as my parents were after seeing that) about keeping the vent, hose and dryer output clean. I think this is a wonderful added service for your clients! You’ll end up saving someone a whole lot of heartache from losing everything in a fire. Great video as always Myles - love to see the family keeping Grandmother safe! As for your Dad - may I suggest a lint roller be kept in the van? 😄

    Literally replaced my outside vent yesterday. Over 30 years old and long overdue. Quite a few years back I had a coworker complaining that his dryer wasn’t working well. He’d never cleaned his vent since moving in decades before. The first part was rigid metal, but past that was about a 20 foot run of vinyl duct with the diameter reduced to about 2 inches by all the lint. 😖

    Just some observations, get rid of the quick connect on the end near the nozzle, it's too heavy to let the heads spin/work, just make up a whip hose for each that is long enough that you can put the quick connect further away and let the nozzle float and spin freely. Next, get rid of the tiny vinyl hoses and tiny quick connects, they greatly limit your CFM getting to the nozzles, go with the larger hoses and better flowing connections to boost flow and make them run and clean better.

    Great addition! I didn’t know this tool existed for dryer vents. I do this quarterly on our dryers at work, but we use the spinning brushes with 8,000 attachment rods. They’re cumbersome and time consuming. I got one stuck a few months back and we couldn’t knock it free. My boss tried with the second brush and it got stuck too. He ended up cutting the duct to get them out. I’ll be pitching these tools to him this week!

  • @VailsMom

    This is a terrific service to add. I do mine myself, but because ours is vented through the roof, I have to move the dryer to perform the service. It’s a royal PITA to re-seat the venting, as it’s all sheet metal (no accordion duct due to space limitations and the previous accordion type installation would collapse). I would love having someone I trust do the work competently. As my husband and I age, I imagine we’ll find someone. The first time I cleaned the ductwork, the dryer was performing poorly and the area around the lint screen was always clogged. We had a friend whose house burned to the ground due to a clogged dryer vent, so we’ve always been aware. I used my iPhone camera to see up the vent stack, and you couldn’t see any light at all. The vent was completely clogged. After using a vent brush kit attached to our drill, you could see the vent cap and blue sky and could actually SEE the vent stack itself. But it’s a MESSY job done from inside. Hire a professional if you can!

    The two youngest Clean Team members have grown up so much since I first started watching :)
    To me it's wild that dryer vent tubes like this exist. In Australia we don't tend to have those, but some people have ducted vacuuming so who knows. I can imagine they'd be great places for critters to hide out, as well as add to the many fires we already have due to dryer lint etc.
    You might want to use a mesh bag around the vent (to catch the lint), or find a way to run a vacuum so it catches the lint as it comes out. Maybe a big blower vac tube like you might use in a wood shop to catch the dust off a lathe?

    I did this all summer one summer with my friend who is a Vet. We came up with an idea for him to be inside of the home with an electric leaf blower sealed to the vent with a coupling i designed to prevent a mess and I’ll be outside using the drill brush/whip depending on what comes out. The cleaning process would take about 20min and it comes out spotless. He would then take apart the dryer to clean the dryer itself. Many people just do the vents but forget about the dryer. All in the job was 1.5hrs and everything checked out perfectly. I remember going to a development site and the property owner came up to us and said can you please come and do the whole development it hasn’t been done in about 30 years 😮 we both said omg lol 😂 but point is this is just as important as doing a yearly PM on your heating system. It has to get done.

    That's a great service to add! If you remove the weight at the end of the hose, by removing the quick connects, it will be easier to feed it into the pipe. The less weight on the hose the better it can push itself down the pipe. Great video!

    A good tip for any one with a dryer, you don't need a tool. But from time to time when drying a load, go around to the vent if possible. And just make sure it's pushing a good amount of air, if anything make sure the flapper is being opened.

    This is a great great service I bought my first home and the dryer vent was so clogged it wasn’t allowing my new dryer to dry it was so clogged they had to drill holes in the duct work in the basement at the curve part it cost me about 180 bucks and they used the truck mount like what you have in the carpet cleaner van as well as a vacuum hose no lint was left behind also and they used a rubber cap to seal the holes really great service next I’ll have my air ducts cleaned also a service they offer that’s wonderful pricy but I’m sure the air purity will be worth the cost ✌🏽

    Your father is amazing. He needs to know that and that he's raising bright young men like yourself and your brothers. He should teach a class on all the things that would help people improve their life and knowledge from working hard to ... well everything I've seen :D Keep up the good work and family enjoyment.
