I'm just a guy in Kansas playing around in his garage. Come along in my adventures riding, racing, modifying and repairing my small fleet of unusual misfits.

Patreons got to see this video early!

Check for a stretched out throttle cable at the pedal. Zip tie trick will take up the slack and cause the truck to run less rich, increasing hp and fuel mileage. My apologies if you already did this. Worked great for my ‘94.

I had one like this. Mine was an 87. Good truck, just don't pull out in front of anyone😅. If it ever hangs in 4WD, back up a few feet and the auto hubs will unlock.

You call yourself a hack when you are really just budget conscious. Here's a hack for you. So many power steering pumps are growling because hoses leak and pumps are not checked often and things take a beating. If you have replaced the bad hose but can't do the pump at this time, pour a half ounce of Lucas oil into the power steering pump and make sure you add enough power steering fluid to reach the full mark. This will quiet things right down. Does it extend the life of the pump? That I do not know but your growling pump seemed to work just fine so you might consider this hack.

Bad ps pump = poor man's supercharger?

I had an exact same ranger that I bought new in November 1989. It had a 2.9 6 cylinder 4X4 long bed blue. Came from factory with high rider series. I no longer own my truck. I do know they make a kit for installation of a 5.0 302. Years ago I saw a guy that had a 302 in his Ranger. Good truck!

I like the giant oversized smooch mark on your drivers side window.

They gonna string you up for impersonating a Texan 😂

Have you seen the video where a guy pulls a D Cell battery apart and uses the center carbon rod and makes homemade replacement brushes for an electric motor.

  • @Fontanamotorsport

i miss seeing those old Microwave Towers..... its a shame they removed the "ears" off almost all of them

  • @melvinnoble8552

THIS has to be the best video I've seen from this channel!!! The simple repairs to a GREAT truck, a short adventure drive, THE DOGGIE!!!

  • @1leggeddog

    The Ranger is BACK!!!

  • @daveball3081

Great fun to watch. The admission that "sometimes it's better to just pay someone" to get work done - encouraging! The production qualities are also improving - good audio makes for a good video! I enjoyed the voiceover work (mixed well with the other audio) and the inclusion of the dog barking audio! Great stuff Jake - thanks for your hard work to share this with us.

  • @vincentdyer8018

Jake’s quality and content is always improving

Day 1 with an (working) adventure vehicle and went on an adventure! Nicely Done!

  • @henrysboy2

Like a lot of folks noted already - terrific video and loved the new format. Fun work on the truck and a great adventure using it. Very cool. Thank you.

  • @toddhowe427

My first vehicle was a black '92 Ranger SuperCab 4x4 with the 4.0L and 5-speed. That truck got me through college and a couple years after before I traded it on a 2000 Ranger. Loved that truck and would kill to find another one but they're getting scarce...

  • @titanicfilmsbymark

    Very good video Jake

  • @beerwrenchgarage

Thanks for clue-ing me in on the Teeter Rock - I'm in Kansas City and will make it a point to check it out in my 4Runner next Spring. Good work on the Ranger!
