I recently came across some vintage photography lenses from the 70s and 80s. I wanted to get them out in the woods and just see what kind of characteristics they have. As well as compare them to modern cine lenses, the Tokina Cinema Vistas (of Ted Lasso fame). Which I realize isn't exactly a fair comparison, but it was fun to see. A good lens is going to up the quality of your image more than just about any camera by itself will. Vintage lenses are popular for a number of reasons, one being affordability. Another being the quality being less than perfect leads to a more noticeable "personality". Especially when paired with a good sensor, in this case the Raven's Dragon sensor.
That's what the goal mainly is here, not to see which lens is "better" but rather, do the older lens have enough of a "feel" to them to justify using in certain situations.
These old lenses are interesting. They can mush together a bit at times, but in the out of focus areas this can create a more abstract almost brush stroke type effect. The bokeh is bubbly, and on the Pentax 50mm it stays round with a bit of an outline in the center, and starts to oval and even swirl very subtly on the edges. They also seem to have a slight blooming effect. Quality wise they're probably not much better than a canon stock lens, but I've seen these on eBay for as low as $30 so if you're looking for a compact vintage lens to pair with a modern sensor, Pentax could be worth a look.
To the Tokina's I added a BPM 1/4 and used ND for all lenses as needed.

I kept each lens wide open throughout.
I graded in Davinci Resolve using Dehancer, but went light on the effects.
I think it shouldn't be too hard to guess but here are the lenses:
    A. Pentax-M 28mm
    B. Tokina Cinema Vista 25mm
    C. Pentax-A 50mm
Thank you to Chelsea as always.

I liked B which was nice and clean with more gradual transitions across the image, the Pentax M was too bloomed for my tastes and the Pentax A too wild and disintegrated looking in the out-of-focus areas. thanks for sharing.
