I am a beagle owner myself and raising him was the toughest thing as there was hardly any beagle specific information on the internet. I got my beagle as a pup from a breeder. He is 17in & 39lbs. He is AKC registered as were both parents which were on sight and able to document both. The same applies to my previous beagle which I got from a different breeder. Most of the beagles at my local beagle club in Massachusetts, USA also fit this description.
*He isn't overweight.

I hope not. I think that breeding them to be smaller would cause a lot of health issues. I would just get a toy breed dog instead if I wanted a smaller dog.
My beagle is a son of an achiever, he's an American. He barks so loud (the bark has emotions on it), he runs so fast, he can fight everyone as a kid.

I heard the argument about European vs American beagles. Based on what I know folks call the “American beagle” is a field beagle with a pointy snout. The ideal beagle as we know it is in all the dog shows with a square snout….which is what I prefer. The funny thing is that a lot of people question if my beagle is purebred with a square snout. I’m guessing there a lot of field beagles (for hunters) out there and that’s all they’ve ever seen. They’re both cute and we’re lucky to have a choice to add happiness to our homes.
When I got my beagle, I didn’t even know what a beagle is, I literally just looked up ‘dog to adopt’ online and the dude said it’s a pocket beagle and that he could provide paperwork and all that… I didn’t even care. My beagle is pretty small tho
We have the type two. She is 17 months old and just won't stop tearing things up! How can one be so menacing and affectionate at the same time? LOL
She's still in the terrible twos. She may not technically be a puppy, but she's still subject to the "zoomies"! Have lots of fun. I envy your adventures.
Hang in there. After they hit 2 years they aren’t as destructive but will forever be mischievous. For example, ours don’t chew on our shoes anymore but will take them sometimes to snuggle with. They are almost 5 years old.
@@brianwhiting3280 you don’t say! Well, If destroyed rags and doormats are the price to pay in exchange of this adventure, then I am all in. By the way, I don’t really train her that much, but she seems to learn from family members. You see, I have daughters who love to play volleyball (normally in our backyard). I noticed one day she waited on the front door holding a ball on her mouth and ran through me as if we were playing tag. We laughed so hard knowing precisely what she wanted.

The only difference between a 15 inch and below 13 inch is the height difference, they can literally come from the same litter.
In France, we have "beagle harrier", Is look likes a beagle but is taller. It's a different species from beagle.

Overweight category. The struggle with beagles is real so good luck! Like I tell our vet, I can’t control the outdoor calories they consume. Nuts the squirrels bury is the top problem for ours.

There isn't any names for them, people usually call them smaller and bigger beagles.
They all look the same to me. I have been told rooo is small. I have been told pocket beagles are fake.
Not fake, just bred out of existence. There are more animals that are extinct than there are animals on the earth.
