      Seems like a good time for the jump. He isn't as dynamic anymore as when he was the champ, probably wouldn't be able to crack the UFC Top5 anymore, but he hasn't taken the Chuck Liddell type of head damage, so he can absolutely be a force at PFL and make good money there maybe even for a couple of years without taken that much damage. If he can retire when he starts to slow down naturally because of age and not because of accumulated damage, he might be well off in retirement.

    We all knew that khabib was gonna retire soon, but it was still shocking! (no one was prepared)
    Everyone thought about 30-0, gsp but no he retire, and in (my opinion) one of the greatest moment in sport (all sports) history.
    To be honest I wasn't prepared, and am sure a lot of us were'nt as well including his coach and friends.

      I feel he either should move to welterweight or retire you can still compete outside of MMA he can compete in uncle chael's Submission underground. But he's a man and he can choose what he wants

      Tonys style depends ON taking damage to "wear out the opponent".
      It's a pretty stupid gameplan and strategy that completely depends on the opponents incompetence to capitalize.
      UNTIL he met Gaethje who understood how to capitalize on it and changed his style to become a more competent.
      For Tony to fight Welterweights with this style will just lead to him taking even WORSE and heavier damage.

      I'm a Tony fan but, I guess the moral of the story is: Don't wear shades inside when you have a TITLE fight waiting for you.
      And also to WAIT for the title fight when you have it, instead of giving it to Gaethje who got fucking OWNED by Khabib.
      Gaethje fucking gave up before that fight even happened. He said it himself, when the bell rang, he knew he had gotten paid and could retire his Mother from work.
      His heart wasn't into it, he defeated himself mentally as soon as the bell rang. Fucking ridiculous.

    I was very worried about the ufc going bankrupt or something when the pandemic first hit and honestly watching the fights and looking forward to them helped a lot during these hard times

      They still have a hard road to pay off the two loans .
      One the 4 billion the fighters have to pay off with blood sweat an some salt.
      2 within the first year of new ownership they took out a second loan to cover costs.

    I don't think Tony is "washed" I just think he's figured out. Similar to woodley. They've always fought the same now they're just fighting fighters that exploit their weaknesses really well. (Woodleys habit of backing up) (Tony's sloppy striking defense & weak takedown defense)

      I don't think he has poor takedown defence because he's so good from his guard that he can and has won fights from there
      Olivera is possibly the most aggressive and dangerous grappler in the UFC right now so he just got outmatched
      Tony is very good at everything but he's not a specialist

Stipe isn’t the old guard yet, he’s younger in the sport than overeem and some of the other guys, in a couple years he’ll be either retired or losing to the next up and comers.     Tony passed on the interim title fight that Dustin won, Tony screwed himself out of the unification bout with Khabib. And the injuries played a part with Khabib vs. Tony. Not entirely the UFC's fault at all

    My thing with Tony is this: Your saying he didn’t need to fight but what if he didn’t? He’d realistically be in the same position as Leon right? We’d be here saying he’s turning down opponents and that he isn’t owed a title shot. But Atleast now we can hope for Islam vs Oliveira and maybe a Tony at 170?

    I will always be a fan of Tony Ferguson as a fighter. He deserves respect for being a man that for 12 fights in a row (is that right?) he was guaranteed to bloody up and beat his opponent. Tony will always be that Type Of Guy.

    I agree with your picks of the year. The hardest one is the fight of the year too many to pick from.
    My top 3 not in any order Dustin vs Hooker, Weili vs Joanna, Hermansson vs Vettori they fought their heart out every single round. That's why I cant include Figueiredo vs Moreno great fight but there took the 5th off

      Usman, Colby, and maybe burns. Khabib isn’t a striker, if he goes against Usman who has never been taken down in his career (100%TDD), how can khabib win if he can’t take him down?
