The Carnival Museum: The Women in Calypso and the Evolution of the SteelPan in Trinidad and Tobago

- The Trinidad and Tobago Carnival Museum launched in March 2021 and its main purpose is to preserve the history of our culture that is carnival here on the island, so join us my Trinbago Vibes peeps as we visit the museum in Port of Spain and explore both the Women in Calypso on the first floor while we get a historic evolution of the steel pan tour on the second floor of this one
Also we take a walk from the Brian Lara Promenade, along Charlotte Street, to the museum as well as a bonus so make sure you stick around till the end :)

The Carpark is Free once you're visiting the museum, otherwise you'll have to pay the $8TT per hour as it's a public carpark

Great to see the museum has improved since last year. What would make it more appealing is if the experience was interactive. Like having music stations that people can listen to both interviews with musicians and music. Having videos explaining carnival characters like the midnight robber would be great. It's a work in progress.
Indeed Ricky, they are expanding as we speak, at least opening up some of their past exhibits that jump into the traditional Mas and the evolution of J’ouvert…hopefully with time they introduce the tunes

Rajeev, another grest video - the tamboo bamboo was banned by the British they felt it was a nuisance. The steel pan was actually invented in the late 1920s in Laventille by William Simon. I heard about Calypso Rose and Drupatee. Another educational video. I love this one.

I think the government needs to invest more into this museum like having real evidence instead of just paintings , but it's a wonderful idea for tourism.

Reposting . Informative, entertaining . Yes Denise is one of my faves . Is good the we are remembering all....i remember Singing Francine in one of her calypso....singing about the lack of memory and respest shown . I remember the ole folks saying " you never miss d water till d well run dry " . Go visit folks . I remember the early pan days and the police in shorts. Wait....i always heard that it was WASA who started d pot holes....now i hear different 🤣🤣😂 . Just a bit of humor . Bro thanks so much , we have so much in our culture to share with each other . Please keep visiting all these different cultural places . We have much to be thank full ( to God ) for , lets keep it so . Ok ok enough gushing . One more thing , please be carefull around that area . There will allways be ( a small number ) folks who are evil and lawless and cant enjoy good/ nice things . Thanks again . I gone .
