- There is a new, uncompleted, highway in south Trinidad that should decrease the time taken to reach Point Fortin from say San Fernando or anywhere really in Trinidad and vice versa, so that's what we are exploring in this one my Trinbago Vibes peeps, cuz y'all have me wondering what's the time difference between the route along the Southern Main Road vs the New Highway... well in this one, we'll find out.
So join me my Trinbago Vibes peeps as we take a drive down south so to speak

1. Valid foreign permits can be used for around 30 days before needing authorization.
2. There is no fast lane. "Keep left unless overtaking." Means do up to 100 in the left and enough to safely overtake on the right then get back in place. The only time you should be in the right lane is to overtake.
3. You should do a video on proper use of roundabouts. I heard some "preferred route" nonsense and it was upsetting.
Thanks for this! Makes me appreciate our country more!
Thanks for the clarification 🙏🏽
We should implement carpool lanes or "fast lanes" when they upgrade the N-S highways to 3 lanes and likewise with the E-W. This would alleviate traffic and allow for people who are driving longer distances to achieve their destinations in a more timely manner. It's not like the roadways and vehicles cannot handle the slightly higher speeds when the proper safety procedures being observed.
@@unadultratedtrini that's a very good idea! Express way for those travelling far? Yeah! Similarly, I thought mini roundabout (like those in the UK) would be useful at certain T junctions and traffic lights could be removed. Look up some videos, if you have time. Simple and straightforward: use you indicators, stay in your lane and move at an adequate pace.
But both have the same problem and it isn't the law nor police. It's the maturity and patience levels of Trini drivers. A man will buss one stueps, "traffic moving too slow!" Jump onto the express/carpool lane and off he goes! Five minutes later police stop him and give him a ticket, "allyuh too wicked! Why allyuh don't go and look for real criminals?" Or my favorite, "only targeting poor people to make money for the government!" When all he had to do was join or create a carpool like your suggestion or wait like every other responsible driver.
I've heard them all... all the excuses. Is always somebody else fault.
Or maybe I'm wrong and projecting.
Thanks for reading the first comment and replying with your suggestions. These are just my opinions based on observations. Not meant to insult anyone.
Am aTrini watching from USA, thank you very much for showing us the new highway to Point Fortin love it ❤❤
You’re most welcome and glad you enjoyed it
This is why you are tnt's #1 youtuber, you always deliver interesting, non boring content... 🙏🙏🙏
Much appreciated 🙏🏽
At 20:52 where you made the turn off due to the construction takes you out by the guapo police station if you pass under the bridge. This highway made a huge difference. You took 35 mins on the southern main road but prior to the highway being open could have took an hour and more due to traffic. So from +1 hr to 15 mins give or take is huge. Great vid!!!
Yup, I was lucky this rounds that there wasn’t as much cars on the road stopping or more than one or two heavy vehicles at the time I did this
W😮O😮W
Love love this now I understand this new Point Fortin highway, i can't wait to see and drive on when i make a visit home back into Point. Thank you for showing it to us that live abroad.❤
You’re most welcome and I’m happy you enjoyed it
Very exciting to see the country developing like this I hope it continues to awesome video and what a great difference it time thanks Rajeev
Indeed, once the highway is completed it will definitely help everyone
Been viewing the Chanel over 2years plus & glad to see this showcase....Been part of this project from 2018 to present..
The work thats still on going is a interchange bridge & should be completed by October 2024...
Much appreciated Kevin and can’t wait for the completion
As I am looking at your video, I am like wait a minute, why does this look so familiar? Well my 3 days in Trinidad back in June of this year, my day in south I drove that very route you did in this vlog! Thanks for sharing.
Nice and you’re most welcome
Thoroughly enjoyed this video , Rajeev. You know I love to see driving videos. Planning to cover that route in the future. 💯💥💫🙌
Nice and glad you enjoyed it bro
Love these take along trips . Speaking of cars . I remember one of my bros , offered to give me a lift, so i walked to the vehicle open the door and was confronted by the steering wheel. Left Hand drive . And after " what you want to drive " I had to endure cars and trucks comming towards me on my side .( not nice for a nondriver ) Lol . Bro you should not have "bragged " on passing the bus 😋🙋♂️ Now the bus has the last laugh 🤣 . Love the " Know Your Country "info .Any one remembered that tv show? .May haps...if possable we could see a map....ala Waze , showing the location and movement . How about when you in the line obeying the rules, and some one pass you on the Sholder 😮☹️😖😤 . Thanks for the ride bro . Lets do more . And also to you and all the Trinbago Vibes peeps lets " arrive alive "
Thanks bro and will definitely take your suggestions into consideration, after all I believe it was you who suggested this one on a Live
It’s really a huge time saver not only to reach Point but all the areas after . Thinking the same thought u said at the end of the video 😂. Great one as always.
Lol, yeah sometimes a great idea comes to you after 🙈
Totally enjoyed this drive and agree with you, the Sunday drivers should stay in the left lane.
Done know Nirmala and glad you enjoyed it
Big thanks Rajeev, looking to drive from Arima to Point for the first time, so this video helps in understanding where to go on the new highway. Big ups!
You’re most welcome and safe trip on the road
Thanks for taking us along on this. Great video! Could you do a drone one over the Northern Range in the Brasso Seco area for us to see the lovely forested landscapes?
One of these days I’ll cover that
I remember back in the days we used to take 4 hrs from MT Lambert to Icacos, blood clath boy, from NYC
Wow, and it would roughly be a 1.5 hrs drive now
Plus, the southern main road used to have real traffic with trucks and slow moving vehicles not to mention the bad road in La Brea so it would usually have been more than 34 minutes! Good job!
Indeed, even if you decide to take the scenic route you still get that ever so often, especially if it’s one of those big trucks
Nice video breds! Dem potholes tho' LOL... and some really cool drone shots too. 👏👊
Lol, thanks bro
This video was a good 👍🏾 idea, you really save time using the highway. Thank you for doing it.❤
You’re most welcome
talking about road ettiquete, men need to keep on the LEFT LANE, of the 2 lane highway when they not overtaking people, hate to see people having to go on the left lane and overtake men.
Agreed, I mean if the highway is free and you ain’t keeping back the flow of traffic then by all means drive however you want, but during peak time, it’s very frustrating
You took the words right out of my mouth!
The law is keep to the left unless overtaking.
Love the video but its actually less time to get tru the new highway 😊its more like 7 min can be less depends on the driver's speed! The view from above was breath taking❤ keep up the great work.
I guess the anomaly was going back on the southern main road and encountering some traffic, before I hit back the highway that I didn’t show, plus I stayed within the speed limit, lol
At 16:48 by the MonDesir interchange you should have done a drone fly over, that part of the highway is under construction also up to Fyzabad, thanks for the video .
Once the highway is completed I may do a drone video on it, so stay tuned
Well boyyy, the last 20 seconds of the video is what I thought you were going to do 🤣 those were some cool drone shots btw 🔥
Lol, thanks and yeah it would have definitely saved me time
Very creative idea for a video,as always trinbagovibes
Thank you 🙏🏽
Great video, but the way you raised my blood pressure by not keeping left unless overtaking…😂😅
Lol, I was overtaking…kinda
This was so informative 👏 👌 🙌 👍 stay bless
Thank you 🙏🏽
Love the drive ❤they need to fix them potholes. It’s like it looks good then all of a sudden you hit a pothole 😮🇹🇹🇨🇦
Lol, welcome to T&T, the land of potholes 🙈 but glad you enjoyed the ride
Good video buddy! 👊🏽
Thanks Mario 🙏🏽
Nice video idea Raj. Whenever I venture down that side I know I what route to hit now.
Thanks 🙌🏽🙌🏽
@@TrinbagoVibes De nada mi amigo. You showcata side of TT the lay man can appreciate
Thanks to Kamla proper roads started to develop in the southern areas. 🙏🙏✌️
It started in Uncle Patos days as he was a south man and expanded with her
Boy... yu iz a Rel Trini... driving on the right side of the road. Other than that, Love yuh videos..😊
Lol, well if it clear
Good content as usual
Thank you
Very nice video raj... But I think the real comparison is before it was constructed and after....1hr+ compared to 15 mins... Just my 2 cents
That’s true, as more cars would have been on the road
My daily journey everyday. It makes a huge difference. No complaints whatsoever
Lol, I could only imagine the difference
Hey instead of taking a right under the new highway path after mosquito creek stretch you could've continue straight on the part of the new highway instead of going through La Brea to cut 15 minutes, then pass through a small village where you would come out after La Brea😊
Lol, I believe I did that in the second half of this video
Lol awesome bro, Like I said last year on the live it would of been 15 mins to point easy easy lol
Yup, once the complete that piece in the middle it should be even shorter
BEAUTIFUL!! AND TO THINK, THIS PROJECT WAS PROTESTED FOR YEARS!!!
Yup, it’s just amazing the time saved in this drive
great video comparison with the SMR and the highway
did you try the new toco highway as yet? how about a video to matelot?
Haven’t done those as yet, but will do in 2024 for sure
Great video you know ah have to make that drive with Nathan n
Yes you do, lol
Thanks for the informative video as per usual. What drone do you use?
Most welcome bro and I use a DJI mini 3
@@TrinbagoVibes nicee
Nice video.. However it is an offense to drive on the right lane except when overtaking, keeping left is always advised
Thanks and noted
U SHOULD COLLAB WITH JB'S MAN CAVE?
Hey that's a great idea!
One of these days, it could happen, who knows
Very interesting episode, thank you.
But I don't understand some of your explanations. You switch to Trini talk like when you turn "here" and when you turn "there" what is the name of the roads you are turning into, n/s/e/w...
lol, basically it’s the Southern Main Road and well basically a continuation of the Solomon Hochoy highway, but ihu with the confusing explanations, will try and do a better job next rounds once the highway is complete
Good evening trinbago vibes
Good evening 🙏🏽
Question. Since it takes less time to travel from Point Fortin to San Fernando, is the cost of taking a taxi less than before?.
I’m not sure but I suspect not as they will travel the regular route because that’s where people live, there isn’t any houses along the new highway currently
I from Aripero. ❤
Nice 🙌🏽🙌🏽
Please go to k street also go to caroni to ansil elcock football field. Also go to Curepe there's a church I grew up around. Been years since been there
Ohhh, need more info on these places, especially that church in Curepe, it could be in my next Church hopping video
Woodford street has the church I'm crepe. The pentecostal church. In caroni near Kay Street. Has the football field.
@@j-zonoldon’t think there are any Church’s on Woodford st in Curepe, but will double check and try to include it in the next Church hopping video
Drive through Fyzabad please.
Ohh, one of these days I will
Hey everyone
Hey Michelle
You a little off with where rousillac is. Where you say is rousillac is really chinese village just pass pepper sauce hill. The heart of rousillac is bumpy's and grants road. Where you call aripero is otahiete or oropouche
Oho 🙈 ihu
Is the route well signposted?
To a degree yes, but more will be required when they complete it
Yepp you did, I meant heading in to go to Point Fortin.
Oho, yeah
The area between Vessigny and Guapo where the highway runs through is known as Vance River since I haven’t seen anyone mentioned it.
It really aggravates me there is no signage mentioning the area as if the turn off is La Brea/Vessigny. But nice video.
Ohh I did not know that, and yeah they really sticking with that signage
@@TrinbagoVibes Sigh
Does he reply
It depends
why you sitting in the right lane?????
Cuz that’s how we drive here, right hand drive
Sholder= shoulder 🤔😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
🇨🇦🇹🇹👍👍
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
You are driving on the wrong lane!
lol, that’s how we drive down here
Jamaica doing the same thing with their roads.
Nice
Road trip 😂😂😂
Lol, yup
This video is moving much too fast which, makes it difficult to follow.
Oh! Noted, will ease up on the time warp in the future
Do you stutter, why do you sound like you forgot some of your words?
I do have a slight stutter that I’m working on
@TrinbagoVibes try talking slower, do not rush your words.
Fussssss
Boom!!!
