I joined the furry fandom because the people in the fandom are sooooo nice. And That’s why I joined the fandom and sooon I will have a golden retriever fursuit for Christmas!
The first video game where you played as an anthropomorphic animal was Kangaroo for the arcade and atari all the way back in 1982! You play as a mama kangaroo, trying to get her babies back. And I only know THAT because it is the first video game where you play as a female character if i remember correctly. Wish I was joking on that one.

I got into the fandom through one of my friends, but I was introduced to it about 3 years earlier by another friend, we all were in the same school at one point. I have a feeling that we might be the only furries, not just in my town (Gillingham, Kent, UK), but in the cluster of 4 towns Gillingham is part of, known as the Medway towns.

Great content as always, Stormi. I’d suggest reading “Furry Nation” by Joe Strike if you want to know more about the early history of the fandom. It actually stretches back to the 70’s. Oh and if you’re interested in early suits, Google Bob Hill’s Bambioid suit. ‘Nuff said.

Interesting facts Stormi. most of them I know already and some I just know now thanks to you. Also down here in the southern hemisphere, I think FurDU is the biggest furry convention with attendees. Or at least in Australia with Confurgence or at the time, Midfur being the first here.

I found this fact odd, but there is an official furry convention in China of all places. Something like Guangzhou Furry Summer Festival (妖都兽夏祭) in 2017. Don't know anything about the current iteration or anything, but I learned about it towards June of 2018 and the website looked super cool and high-tech compared to what I usually see

its sad so little people are aware of fred patten and Osamu tezuka's influence on the fandom, ive been apart of this fandom for 12 years, since 2007, and a theiran since 2004, i was brought up with tezuka's works, Leo/Kimba, atom/astro and even at a young age i saw the connections obvious, i realy suggest you guys read fred patten's numerous books on the fandom, he recently passed, and more younger furs need to be aware of his influence
