- 7.9% alcohol. Introduced in 1634 (or, earlier). Brewed in Germany by Salvator.
"Our brewing history begins with this beer. And the history of strong beer in Bavaria - it was the Paulaner monks who invented this bottom-fermenting double bock. We have been brewing the Salvator for over 375 years - always according to the original recipe, which has been continuously refined over the years. The head is the colour of caramel and the beer is chestnut brown, combined with a seductive flavour of chocolate to give a pleasing intensity on the palate. Along with this comes the finest Munich malt, rounded off by a light note of hops in the background. Often imitated but never duplicated: The father of all double bock beers, whose names always end in '-ator'!"

Absolutely love this beer, I could easily drink loads of this thanks for the review
I agree, on both counts, rukus!
Paulaner is by far my favorite beer company. Delicious beers across the board, had it a lot in Germany.
I love it, and I bet I'd love Germany! Thanks for watching, Ross Barbish. I appreciate it!
Weihenstephaner my favorite but paulaner not too far behind, the Belgian brand Chimay also on my list of favorite brands.
Just tried this beer and loved it. Love your videos keep it up. Thanks.
I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching, ROBERT LUZANIA. I appreciate it!
I love the Paulaner beers and enjoying one while I watch this !!!! Cheers brother 🍻
Excellent, and cheers, back to you!
I found a Paulaner variety pack recently at the grocery store which shocked me. Must be myself and others buying up all the Warsteiner Dunkel that's encouraging the distributors to start stocking more German imports with greater regularity haha.
I've had several doppelbocks including this one, I find they are a bit to strong for me flavor wise, definitely more of something to sip on. I would like to try some regular bocks since 5.5-7% abv tends to be the most enjoyable range for me, but I don't remember ever seeing any German examples around here. Out of the three Doppelbock dunkel I've had, I find it odd that none were actually darker in color than the Warsteiner.
It was a Marzen, Helles, Hefeweizen and the Salvator in the variety pack, I must say the Munich Lager was my favorite out of the pack.
It's cool that you found that variety pack, Bill. Yes, like you, I'd be curious to try some more standard German bocks.
love paulaner, so i finally got a 6 of this, tonight.....had to revisit the review.
It's a classic!
I love getting this beer a few times a year
Same sentiments, here.
This was one of my favorites in my early beerdrinking years! 😉🍻🤩
I think I first tried it in 2011.
This beer is on the top of my list. Hour drive to get it, so not today. I wish Germany would just send me beers. can’t wait to try it.
Munich Germany crafted beer all over the world and made it great. The American lager is produced from a Southern Germany style. Had a tooth pulled out by a Sugar Daddy candy by the way.
Excellent comments, JM!
I recently picked some of this up for 10.99 which is a pretty good price really for what you get. Usually when I see this beer the date isnt good and its "expired" which is why I dont get it often. I just happened to stumble across some that had a good date so I figured I'd get it. Unfortunately its one of those beers thats likely going to collect dust on the shelves and be old and not fresh. I mean a 7.9% malt forward beer a few months past the best before date doesn't mean its going to be bad but Im likely not going to buy it when I can just get something else thats much fresher.
I'm the same way. I want my beer, fresh.
I think it's excellent. I will be getting some more today cheers guys!
I love it, Bart, and enjoy it! Cheers, back to you!
Nice review. I love that beer I did that one on my channel awhile back as well. I thought I was back in Iraq listening to all those pop shots going on in your neighborhood. Who’s killing the squirrels. Lol
Cheer brother...
That's comical, MGunz BR. Well, people were firing off their leftover New Year's fireworks. I saw that, on your channel, and I love Salvator!
Awesome review guys. Thank you very much. I give this beer an A+. God surely had his hand in the creation of this brew
Thanks, LTD!
Excellent review, excellent beer. Great beer for for sub zero evening in Minnesota. My second favorite dopplebock only to Celebrator by Ayinger. Prost! 🍻
Thanks, and that Celebrator is amazing. Cheers, back to you. I appreciate you watching, Dan Gruhn.
Freaking lovee Paulaner Salvator - I have one every Easter haha
Every Easter. I'd have it on Good Friday, but that's fine, too. Thanks for watching, Beers With Mandy. I appreciate it!

It takes some getting used to, I guess, but it is so wonderful, given the chance, Peter!
I am a huge fan of Andygator. That's the only doppelbock I've ever had. I'm gonna look for this.

I love it!
A goat can kick you, yes. Far worse, it can make enemies of your neighbors by eating their flowers and climbing on top of their cars. Arab proverb: "If you have no troubles, get a goat." I'll take a donkey instead. They're adorable.
Excellent comments!
The monks couldn’t eat solid food but can drink it? W..what? That’s a strange rule if you ask me.
It was the discipline of the abbey.
German beers are simply the best, IMO.
The maltier the better for me.
This one is quite excellent.
agree! Love when there are a lot of complex malt flavors
I agree, on all points.
I rather enjoyed this beer. It definitely has sneaky alcohol.
I agree, on both counts!
I managed to drink a six pack of this once, and somehow didn't get sick, but I wouldn't advise such a practice
No, we will keep it quiet, ha-ha. Thanks, SfK!
Lol yeah 7.9 is hidden pretty well. Its a tad alcoholish but it doesnt say 7.9
I love it. Thanks for watching, @joshbecque2424. I appreciate it!
Great review guys! I’ve had their Oktoberfest & loved it. I’ll be on the lookout for this one. Right up my alley!!
Thanks, MS, and I am sure you'll find it (I think).
You’re welcome. There’s a good chance my folks in Natchitoches will have it.
