Newbie or not Colin, you're caring for our much needed bees and doing a grand job 😊. Thank you for such an interesting insight into your bee keeping. Everything crossed for the winter for you both and all your charges. 😊
Many thanks!
Colin you’re so caring about your bees and you really put a lot of work into their comfort in the hives. Hope the knee keeps getting better Shaun. Take care you two ❤️
Colin, it’s obvious that you and the bees have developed a symbiotic relationship. It’s a win win for both of you! ❤
I’ve learned so much about bees and bee keeping from your vlog. Nature is truely amazing and so are you Colin.
Wow, thank you!
Love the bee vlogs. Learn so much. The way you film and edit, it's as if I'm there there. Thanks for continue to do what you do. Plus, you both make be laugh☺
Thank you! Will do!
Thanks again Colin for being a source of inspiration in a subject I've always been fascinated with. You're a true superhero in men's health and development!
Thanks so much 👍🏻
I hope Shaun smells better after his annual bath 😜
Colin, you impart your love and knowledge of the bees so well - thank you!
Our pleasure!
Colin, I absolutely love your vlogs because your voice is melodic and your research has always been first rate. Your beekeeping does help the environment and I thank you for that. Be you. Just be you, Colin.
Wow, thank you!
I swear I never gave a hoot about beekeeping. But now I am absolutely fascinated by it 👍 Thanks, Colin!
Great to hear!
Im sure school children would be fascinated with your knowledge of your bees
I’d have run a mile if I was a kid around bees 🐝 🤣
@@FoxesAfloatso would I but I meant as knowledge not hands on straight away
Good on you Colin! You’ve upskilled to a high level it seems. Lucky Bees with the care you’ve taken and give.
Thank you! 🙏🏻

Glad you enjoyed it!
I can tell you are passionate about the bees. Best of luck to them and to you.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Colin and Shaun. I've been watching your entertaining and heartfelt videos for many years now. Through good times and bad times, your strength of character, humor, and perseverance have been fun and inspirational. I look forward to watching more of your videos in 2024!
Wow, thank you
Wonderful vlog. so interesting to hear about the bees and what happens over winter. You live in such a beautiful area with so much wildlife. I am really pleased for you all. Keep well and safe. James.
Cheers James 👍🏻🐝
I love hearing about the bees. You are brilliant at how you describe what you do to take care of them
Aww, thanks Joanne 👍🏻
Amazing the information you have given us about bees 🐝🐝.
I love it ❤.
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Well done Colin, very informative vlog. Hope your knee gets well soon Sean.
Thanks 👍
You’re doing an amazing job looking after the bees 🐝 and passing on knowledge of bee keeping I love your enthusiasm and love for them 👍
In Saskatchewan, my friends wrap their hives in insulation and plastic with an opening for the bees available in the less cold times.
I heard it gets well below minus 30 there, so I’m not surprised! 🥶
Great video keep warm and safe have a lovely weekend 😀
Thanks, you too!
Me and the Missus are your ages and share the same daft comedy vibes and innuendos, it's great and silly. We've been watching for years and enjoy it. However, this vid tonight is by far the the best bee information vid ever on tv or CZcams. She wants a hive and you are winning Colin....
Do it! 🐝👍🏻
Colin, you are off the chain with the forskin jumper. Love your humor and Shaun for putting up with it. Love the bee keeping info. My Grandfather was a bee keeper also and always loved when he would extract the honey.
Humour is the best x
Thanks for explaining what’s involved in keeping bees over winter. I didn’t realise there was so much to consider. Sounds like you’ve thought of everything and your bees have the best chance of survival.
Let’s hope so! 👍🏻
I love bees ,so cute .
We need them more than they need us .
Bee keeping is good for the soul.
Really enjoyed learning this about bees in winter. Thanks so much
Our pleasure!
It doesn't matter that you're a "newbie." What matters is that you're helping the bees and the ecosystem (and enjoying yourself :-) as you continue to learn.
Thanks for that!
Productive and informational thinking beats cyclical, non-productive thinking any day. You have given yourself some great mechanisms for keeping healthy. Kudos to you, Colin!
Thank you 🙏🏻
I've just stumbled across your channel tonight and I'm loving it! I should have been asleep an hour ago but your vlogs are so interesting!
Welcome! 🙏🏻
That was grand, thanks guys, I found that really interesting , I didnt know you now have 21 hives, thats a full time job :-O Hopefully you will get some picturesque snow and the hives will be all ok, you know what you are doing and you are doing your best so dont worry Colin, Im sure they will all be fine :-) x Shaun, I hope your knee improves daily and the cold doesnt make it worse for you x stay warm guys x
Yeah, it’s pretty much full on during the busy spring and summer months.
Thanks lads always make me smile 🎄🎄🎄
Our pleasure!
Hi boys what a great video, Colin they have made you a different person, your so much more calmer , bees are essential to life so keep up the good work. Have a great week 😊
Thanks 👍
An incredibly informative and entertaining episode. My knowledge and understanding of bee keeping has improved no end as a result. Thank you Colin. Hope you steadily improve Shaun. Remember, “knit one, pearl one”! 🥴
Haha! 🤣 Thanks 🙏🏻
All experts start out as newbies, and true experts will continue to learn. I love learning about the bees.
As usual, another very informative vlog. I enjoy hearing you talk about all your beehives. I’m looking forward to the day when my hive will be a seen on your video. Take care, stay warm. Enjoy the tree decorating. Cheers 🥰🐓🐝🚂🦉
So nice of you! I’ve ordered your plaque 🐝👍🏻
Awesome, thanks @@FoxesAfloat
Colin you’re doing a great job looking after the bees and possibly inspiring others to do the same. Thank you…. Sean, there are loads of guys who knit or crochet or even do tapestry. In days of old the seamen used to always knit their own sweaters… And by the way, mittens are the best at keeping your hands warm - that’s why the Scandinavians have so many patterns for them!!!! 😁 Thank you for the vlog and beautiful photography 💕🌿
I love how caring you are and that you know your bees so well. Happy December
Thanks, you too!
Well done, well done,............................................................. That's all bee'zzzzz. Good job!!!!!
I can see the love you have for your bees Colin, and how it seems to relax you and make you happy. This I think is a very groovy thing.
The best way to stay warm is to keep yourselves buzzzzzy. 😅. Seriously though, have you guys thought of a few fruit trees for summer ? Honey and fruit = Mead. Great drink, especially when heated on those cold, dark winter nights.
It’s illegal to make alcohol here, and we don’t like mead anyway, and we don’t have enough honey because viewers want it all 👍🏻
What lucky bees to have such a caring owner! Glad to hear that Shaun's knee is improving. LIke they say, Growing old is not for sissies! Have a good weekend. 💖💖💖💖
He’s definitely a sissie 🤣
🤣@@FoxesAfloat
Colin, you're doing a great job taking care of the bees.
I put my tree up today and will decorate it this weekend; I love all the lights and sparkly bits!
Have a great weekend,
xoxo's Sandie😊🎄❄
Aww, happy Christmas 🎄
OMG I HAVE A CRACKED RIB and you 2 buggers. Have made it so funny it hurts . FORESKIN and Gormless mittens bloody hell killing me . All the best Guys From Paul & Debbie in Sunny Doncaster Not 😂❤❤❤❤
Those Frosty Images look beautiful. I can Imagine Colin in his White Beekeeper Suit walkin' amongst that Frosted land and it lookin' like a Spaceman exploring a Distant Foreign Planet. Get well soon Shawn. Baby Bees? That sounds Too Cute.
Baby bees sound cute but look like tiny aliens 👽 🤣
That was such an interesting video, Colin. Twenty one hives is so many, i didnt realise you have become such a Queen of the Bees. I would like to know more about them. You said each hive has differenent characteristics , different likes and things that annoy them. What sort of things are they? That started me thinking about the chickens too, what are they like? Thanks for getting us more fascinated by nature. All healing vibes to Shaun's knee too.
What, no bears? That is a usual visitor to USA hives :) Good luck!
We don't have bears in the UK.
Yeah. Most Americans don’t understand that the UK isn’t the USA 🤣
Shaun knit Colin a pair of swimming trunks for when he goes for a dip in the loch
🤣
Indeed you may be a newbie to bee keeping but any novice beekeepers can learn lots from.your talks on CZcams
Thank you
Wow 21 - I can remember your first - amazing Colin and we can see that they are now your passion - lucky bees. You're looking good Shaun - happy winter to you both, stay warm. Summer has just arrived here in NZ.
Thanks so much!
You are my sunshine Love your video. The bees are beautiful. Have I good weekend. Bless us all 🙏🏻🙏🏻🕊🕊🌻🌻
Very interesting vlog you can tell you love your bees 🐝 🐝xx
Great episode. Love how you " know" the bees. ❤
Fascinating vlog! Thank you.
Sounds to me like you have done all you can to help your lovely Bee's through the Scottish winter, i have my fingers crossed for you, also will the gormless mittens or the sweater be appearing on your shop soon? lol
Yay! Fridays always betta with the beeeeeutiful boys! ❤
Always!
Great episode....its great to see the passion you have for the beekeeping...and how much pleasure you're getting for them.
Cheers 👍🏻🐝
Hope Shaun enjoyed DrWho,last weekend. I think we are in for a hard winter this year.
He did 👍🏻
Get Colin to knitt jumpers for bees.
🤣
Wow! I always wondered what happened in the winter with the bees. Kick those lazy drones out! Ha Thanks for showing us this very interesting information ❤
Our pleasure! 👍🏻🐝
Sutherland is a lovely county.xx
When you reach a certain age you can feel the change of weather in your bones ( it's true!) Look after each other and keep warm, best wishes from me near Barrowford locks, been a subby for years! 💞
Yes! Thank you! 🙏🏻
Love how you talk about your hives! They are well cared for to be sure!! Great job you are doing, love what you are doing for the environment!
Are the hive ‘legs’ screwed onto the pallets they stand on so they can’t blow over?
They are solidly strapped down 💪🏻
Undertaker bees? Wow, who knew!!
Yup! They all have their duties 🐝👍🏻
Colin, you seem to be doing a marvelous job with your bees. Keep up the good work. Cheers from the other side of the pond.
Thank you! I’ll keep trying 🐝
You get much more satisfaction with the bees than you would have gotten from a tour of the Swizzles factory.
Ooh, I don’t know about that! 😋
Very interesting vlog today Colin and Shaun as specially the one about the bee's in winter you've done an amazing job with the bee's Colin showing us all how the bee's work and how they got the hever to produce honey. You have become an amazing beekeeper Colin and we are all proud of you.
As, thanks Alistair 🐝👍🏻
@@FoxesAfloat it's a pleasure Colin have you and Shaun watched the new vlog of one day more a board with Pete and Caroline? they were traveling along with Derek and Pauline on silver fox just to let you both know.
What a fantastic explanation
Glad it was helpful!
"Mittens for the gormless." 🤣😂 Finally a charity I could benefit from.
🤣
Oh I’m the first one here today! Lol, love you guys!
There are two old adages that come to mind. 'Thinning the herd' and 'Survival of the fittest. Old but true and make the future best for the rest.
again, the photography is beautiful. Wishing the bees, the best but know that they will be well taken care of all winter with the best chances to be out and doing bee things in the Spring.
Exactly 👍🏻
Life in the Croft is so much more interesting than the narrow boating....in my humble opinion. Then again, guess I am more "nature" than "river" in my yearnings! 🤗🙋🌹
Wonderful therapy - to care for another sentient being. Warms the heart. When you're doing your beekeeping that's your focus and the rest of the world can rocket by.
Great to see you taking such good care as they are taking care of you. Once again informative and the knowlegde with narration of Colin is top notch!
Many thanks
Colin and Shaun wishing you a wonderful winter. Continued healing Shaun and good health to both of you and your furry and winged family
Thank you! x
not long out of hospital after spending just over a week on HDU and a further 3 weeks on the main ward after having a massive pulmonary embolism. watched a lot of your old content and it kept entertained wile confined to bed having a massive amount Anticoagulant pumped in to me connected to things that go beep. having to self inject 2 times a day now. but thanks to the nhs i am on the mend and you guys have been part of it
We hope you make a speedy recovery! x
ty@@FoxesAfloat
Really interesting again .. fingers crossed your bees will be fine 💞

So interesting lots of interesting information on the bees in winter 🥶 weather how your both well and Shaun’s knee improves soon x
Yes, thank you
It’s good for the bees , you and nature so it’s a plus all around, hopefully they all make it through.🤞Take care, enjoy the weekend🙋🏼♀️🥰
It sounds like you and the bee"s are good for each other
Thank you!
Your video are awsome as always. You guys look some happy right now. Keep on going, much love from Quebec!
Thank you!
Great vlog guys have a great weekend
Thank you! You too!
Wow Colin, that's amazing. So interesting to know and you're such a great teacher. Would snow be better than rain and drizzle? Your wild swimming will have prepared you for being out in the cold. You sound like an expert to me 😃
Snow would be better.
Really interesting Vlog..your doing all you can for the Bee's..Im sure they will all be fine, they couldn't " bee" in better hands :)
Haha! See what you did there 🤣
Nice vlog .The bee's should be cozy and warm now.
Oh yes!
Have you ever used a stethoscope or anything to listen to a hive? I just wonder what it would sound like if you put a stethoscope up to the side of the hive and listened.
It would probably sound like a quiet humming 👍🏻
@@peterdean8009 😂
All the info about how to take care of bee hives is very interesting. Thank you.
Our pleasure! 👍🏻
Excellent vlog as always.
Thank you.
Hope your pipes don't freeze lads! I'm in North Wales and my pipes were WELL frozen this morning!
The North wind doth blow and we shall have snow
and what will poor robin do then?
He'll hide in the barn to keep himself warm
and hide his head under his wing.
Great vlog as usual lads👍
Thank you!
With the bee's being ready for winter I'm wishing you a great weekend!
Thank youns for the video, becareful you dont get foreskin caught in zipper.God bless.
Same to you!
Hey Colin... Are you in the Naturists Bee-keeping section too?😜 BTW that vid was very interesting.
😜
Thank you for all the info about the care of your bees. Very interesting . You are doing a fantastic job. Definitely great for the environment.
Thanks so much!
I can certainly relate to the over thinking. Great informative vlog 😎👍
Thanks 🙏🏻
Hi Colin. I think you do a great job with your bees and you look after Shaun I love the show a lot
Wow, thank you
Two questions - could you install a hive-cam to check what's going on in one of them through the winter? Would probably need to ho in a future new one and be wired up.
Could the bees not get the mites off each other? They seem like social creatures.
No chance of cameras in the hives. Firstly, it would be prohibitively expensive, there’s no power and I can’t open hives over winter to replace batteries, it’s too dark, too cramped and close to focus on anything, there’s no room inside because literally every inch is taken, but ultimately, there’s just no need.
Yes, Varroa can spread among bees, hence clearing as many as possible before the colony weakens. 👍🏻
Knitting 😆🤣👍👍
Absolutely fascinating. I really enjoyed this weeks vlog thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Will you be putting the tree up yourself or in the parlor?
🤔😳🤭😄🫢🤨
Cheeky! 😂
Shaun's yearly bath😂😂😂😂
🛀🏻
I guess, in the end, now you've made them as cosy as possible, you have to leave the bees to it.
Let the bees be so they can be bees ;-)
