    "Saturday Superstore".
    Presenter Sarah Greene talked to Tim Furniss in the studio and with
    Heather Couper on the phone, about upcoming space missions
    including STS-51L (Challenger), Giotto and Voyager 2's encounter at
    Uranus the week before.

    “Very, very sad.” He says that describing the loss of contact with the European space probe near Haley’s Comet.
    Remember those words, “very, very sad.” We’re all soon going to be using them a lot.

    Fantastic upload - a real rarity to see children's TV and the space programme converge. I understand that the BBC did something similar during Apollo 11.It's rather sobering to imagine what the future held a few days after this programme ...

    RIP Challenger 7 and Tim Furniss (1949-2019). Tim was IMHO the greatest space print journalist ever. He had a unique way of presenting technical details that fostered curiosity without intimidating the general public or space novices.

    Thanks for this - visited Giotto at BAe in Bristol during it's final check out -surreal to see it sitting surrounded by spotlights. Giotto did exceptional science at Halley's comet and beyond. Felt sorry for Sqn Ldr Wood missing out . And I still have Tim's book - bought with hard earned cash !
