  • Did you know that being assertive in English can help you manage stress and negative emotions, deal with uncomfortable situations, and express yourself more effectively?
Plus, it can help you avoid too many responsibilities if you have a hard time saying no to others or asking for what you want.
And, most importantly, sound more confident.
That all sounds pretty awesome, doesn’t it?
But what does it mean to be assertive and how can you do that in English?
That’s exactly what we’re going to focus on in this first Confident English lesson for 2019!
In today’s lesson, you’ll learn what it means to be assertive in English and you’ll get 5 strategies that will help you communicate in an assertive way with confidence:
✨Say no to meet a client after work because you want to go to your daughter’s concert at school
✨Ask for what you want/need at work, without feeling bad
✨Defend your opinion or point of view, even if others disagree with you
✨Manage stress more easily by setting clear boundaries
✨Respond to uncomfortable situations respectfully instead of with anger or aggression
At each step, I’ll share clear examples of the language you can use in English to help you do this. And then you’ll have the opportunity to practice at the end.

"Being assertive is the ability to communicate in a confident and calm way, even intense o difficult situations. When someone else might be pushy or rude or aggressive at work, it means you're able to respond in a respectful, calm way without any agression without nagative emotion and without having to apologize. It means being able to say no, to speak directly and clearly about what you wnat or what your limits are without sounding angry or aggressive and again without feeling badly or having to apologize " You explain very nice We have to work hard this goal

I need to tell my colleague i will no longer help him:
    1. My dear colleague, i' ve been helping you with your tasks for more than few weeks. Now you are ready to do it yourself! Show me your high potential!
I underline that he is ready to work alone as he might not have enough confidence .
    2. I need to recover my book that my neighbour bowred from me long time ago.
Hey, do you remember the book i gave you to read long time ago? I need it so i will come tonight to take it and why not share with me one of your favorite books?
I give him no choice but to give me back my book as i will show up to his door tonight and i ask something in exchange too 😉

I love the way you speak clearly ,great pronouncements and most of all super tempo , not too slow and not too fast, which you could do a video on your speaking style because you sound friendly not artificial and arrogant. Thank you and warm regards. Farouk khan
