    Even for Connor who is usually known for not being able to express himself well on the spot, on top of only having just dipped his toes into the keeb world, I think he defended the hobby quite well. He made solid points that can apply to most people and tried his best not to be nitpicky or biased, despite the nonsense arguments that Garnt and Joey were throwing at him.

    • @justonefra
      @justonefra Před 2 lety +9

      What, I don't really think that arguing that the _"best way to optimize the keyboard is removing the numpad because you save desk space"_ is a real argument given that people use computers in different ways. As the other two said the issue with Connor's argument was that he was being absolute with his statements. I agree that for his usage he can find not having the numpad beneficial but, for example, as a developer (or as an accountant as Garnt and Joey said) the numpad is essential to optimize typing.
      As always the best option is to have the ability to choose between different options instead of saying that one is better than others.

      There's a reason why the Joey is a Karen meme has stuck around for so long. I won't pass judgement on someone based only on an online personality (because it can go both ways), but IF you just based it on his youtube persona (both on trash taste and his own channel) Joey consistently has Karen like qualities that fans have latched onto. But you also got to think about the fact that if they all agreed with each other on everything it would less entertaining. You get viral clips/more views from having, well trash tastes. Plus they're all legit good friends and busting each others balls/trolling over mundane shit is just what mates do. It's just usually not in front of a camera being broadcasted to a million+ people each week.

    Unsure why Connor was getting flak, Joey and Garnt were wrongfully clowning on a very utility-filled hobby/aspect of tech. I’d know, I’ve been covering them for years. Custom mechanical keyboards exist basically to cater to pretty much anyone’s needs. Need a compact board to save desk space or need to tone down the volume? You can do so. Do you need a gigantic 150 button monster that sounds like a cannon? Go right ahead. It’s the same concept of smartphones. Sure, you can use a phone just for calling, but a smartphone catered to your needs elevates your experience to a higher plane of enjoyment, it’s a lot more personal. Poor Connor.

    I genuinely don't get why Connor was getting clowned on, especially from Joey. Connor just said he wants to work more comfortably, how is that pretentious? He wasn't even making fun of Garnt and Joey prior to it. By their logic no one should bring an external mouse cause the touchpad is enough and that would be unergonomic.

    • @JaimeGonzalezBarojas
      @JaimeGonzalezBarojas Před 2 lety +9

      I think joey thinking its "pretentious" about carrying an extra keyboard comes from the way connor phrased his side.
      Connor phrased that whole idea like "hey, you, yes you, you should always carry a keyboard with you, you may never know when will you need it" and then started talking about the actual benefits, while joey simply got stuck with the first part because yes, carrying around a keyboard at all times, no matter how small or beneficial it is, it sounds tacky or exaggerated, but not pretentious like joey said.
      Like I commented on the podcast, Carrying a whole extra keyboard "just because you might need it" it's like always carrying a bottle of saice on your bag, you may never know when your food wont be spicy enough for you, its going way longer than the extra mile for a problem that's either too niche or too easy to solve
      And again, like I said on the podcast, joey calling the whole thing pretentious it's just joey being a bit too stupid from him

    My reason as to why I don't use the laptop keyboard is because they don't last that long if you play games needed only keyboards. If the laptop keyboard is now janked, it is hard to repair it especially when your local area is far from the official store. Having a separate keyboard on your laptop is advantageous for laptop gamers. That is all I can say from my side and I cannot speak for the rest

    75% or smaller separate keyboard - literally gets rid of any gripes and has a smaller footprint than a laptop (but thicker in most cases)

      Hard to mod a stock prebuild board, but very easy on a custom. Everything can be replaced with ease and a lot of aftermarket options are available.
      Maybe consider building a board yourself.

    I have one of the loudest mechanical keyboards available - a razer keyboard which uses their own version of the cherry reds. And fight me I love it when a keyboard is super loud and clicky and sounds like a type writer. The thunky keyboards are nice, sure. But I LOVE the sharp and loud and crisp clicks.

    • @matasa7463
      @matasa7463 Před 2 lety

      You don’t know shit about keyboards lmao. Cherry Reds are linear.
      If you want thick clicks, throw the Razer away and get a Keychron Q1. Then put some Kalih Box Jades inside, and don’t do the force break mod on the case.
      Metallic pings and thick clicks for days. Your neighbour’s neighbour will hear you type.

    Personally, I prefer 100% for the num pad although from my experience on a three year Esports course at university 60% and 70% keyboards are really handy.
    In my first year I was bothered about bringing my own keyboard which is 100% and I will say it barely fit in my backpack, so in that instance I kinda wish I had a smaller keyboard; so I get both sides of the argument.

    When I was Over the Road trucking, I had limited space aswell as no outlet that supported a full rig. I utilized my laptop with a 75% and mouse on my bunk workspace. As the laptop keyboard was liquid ass for playing any mmo. I used a controller when I could, but can't play all games with it. There are countless situations where a reduced keyboard is the choice. Hell even the Razer Tartarus was okay for most games if you needed ultra portability for w.e reason
