Once you pass your mid-twenties, you basically just start to dread your birthday every year, being reminded that you're constantly getting older, uglier and (most probably) lamer by the day, and yet for some reason you still feel the need to celebrate that with people you don't even like. It honestly feels like such a waste of time, it's unnecessarily stressful, and mostly I just wish that it can all be over so I can get back to my normal life as soon as possible.
My few friends would never show up or just called off at the last minute 🥲 That traumatised me enough to have a 'selfish' birthday: it's all about MY favorite decorations, food, drinks, etc. Just once a year it's all about me. I'll invite you but if nobody shows up, I'm having an amazing day anyway! Funny enough, this relaxed attitude works like a charm and my (best) friends always show up 😊
