I’m 29 now, but back when I was in my teens I had barely any female friends for this reason. If you have some disagreements with a guy he will probably be over it the next day unless it was over something very serious. But with girls, even the slightest little disagreement could cause them to hold resentment towards you for weeks if you’re lucky. And girls can be very insecure, and I say this as a woman myself. So it could very well be that this mean girl was jealous of you or something. Who knows?

It can be difficult when others feel they need to compete with you. I don't think that is a friend, that's just the idea of keeping our friends close and enemies closer.
