As an Italian I really appreciate the effort made by Bandai Namco in giving Claudio an entire dubbing in Italian, in his original language, but more generally I really appreciate, and I find it very nice how almost every character on the roster speaks his original language, or in any case the one closest to his own
It gives more personality to all the characters, and makes the player understand which country of origin of each of them.
Yeah I love it. Tekken has a really fun thing going on where everyone speaks their own language, but they all understand each other. Including the guy that just speaks in animalistic growls.

I completely agree. It's a bit of a pet peeve for me in Street Fighter, where even characters like Ryu/Chun Li just have generic American hollywood voices. Fighters from different countries speaking in their own languages makes the setting feel much more 'global' to me, and makes the fighters seem more distinct.

Him having arrows as part of his regular moveset should've been a thing from the beginning. So going into Heat automatically puts him into Starburst and he's got two different versions of Starburst now. I actually like the change to his hit sparks.
BRO IKR, it made me so frustrated that we couldn’t have a move that has an arrow at all. And the variety of cocoon and the RED eye during Heat Smash is GLORIOUS.

I'm Italian and I can say that the dub is absolutely perfect.
Something I've been wondering for a while now: Italian dub actor sounds very, and I mean VERY familiar to me. Like someone I've been listening to for years in some Italian dubbed anime. Any chance he's worked on Saint Seiya maybe? Hence the "Sirio" reference? I know I'm just throwing it out there but really, feels like I've been hearing that voice for ages.

Love Claudio Serafino and being Italian he makes me proud, we finally are represented in a Tekken fighting game and we get him back in T8 too!
His lines are really cool but some translations for obvious reasons leave behind a whole meaning to his phrases.
I'll try to address his lines in this trailer so non-italians can understand better what I mean:
0:27 - Niente di più facile! (with a cocky tone) is litterally translated in "Nothing easier!", if i wanted to follow the subtitle direction is more like "There's nothing easier than this (fight)"
0:35 - Luce di Sirio, risplendi al massimo! (serious tone) "Light of Sirius, shine your brightest!"
0:49 - Osserva! (this is not subtitled but i'll do it for the sake of translating every line) "Observe!" / "Watch!"
0:55 - Non c'è spazio per i dilettanti! (cocky tone) "There's no space for amateurs (here)". This is a litteral translation and i think the official subtitles are cool and fits very well.
1:07 - Perforazione! (no subs but i'll write it) "Perforation!"
1:13 - Rilascio! (no subs) Here is a bit tricky because music and sfx are too loud. "Rilascio" means "Release!" (referring to the arrow).
1:20 - Il mio potere! (serious tone) Here "Feel my Power" Is actually a badass translation, but he litterally Is just saying "The power of mine" or "My power" and for us native Italians it sounds a bit weird hearing him say that. "Il mio potere" doesn't carry much presence or intentions, and seems like an incomplete sentence like "[...] My Power.... [...]" Like he's going to add something shortly after but he doesn't want to and/or it feels like something should've been before the "My power" to make more sense (or maybe i'm missing something and i'm not educated enough to understand It).
(check replies under my comment by other users for some interesting theories about this).
So i hoped he was given a catchphrase that represented better the "Feel my Power" subtitle. Or either a subtitle that represented better the "il mio potere" catchphrase in english.
(Like "Questo è il mio potere!" or "Senti il mio potere!" )
1:23 - Il bagliore di Sirio purifica tutto! (serious tone) "Sirius's glow/flare/glare/light purifies everything!"
1:27 - Arrivederci! (cocky tone probably) means "Until we meet again" and while i think it's a marvelous business move since it was popularized by the character Bruno Bucciarati in JoJo's Bizzarre Adventures and while it's a quite funny and hype quote, letting him say "Addio" (farewell) (more serious tone) instead would have been cooler to hear, because for us Italians he's basically saying "cya bro" pretty much ironically to the opponent he just deleted from existence (which i find really amusing and i think It fits his cocky and sarcastic personality)
1:32 - Perdonami, devo adempiere al mio dovere! (sorrow tone and then with a determined tone) means "Forgive me, I must fulfill my duty!"
I just wanted to share some language knowledge and i hope people interested in this finds my comment useful.
Anyway, all in all, really beautiful character and Italy being attached to religion, the church and exorcism i think they did a very good rendition for an Italian fighter.
We finally see him use his arrows and exorcism powers more, FINALLY!

EN: I think the line "Il mio potere!" is done this way on purpose because you can use rage art at the end of a combo where he gets Starburst so it's a full line where he says "Osserva...il mio potere!"

Il problema che trovo con questa teoria è che nella traduzione in inglese poi hanno messo "Observe..." e nella rage art "Feel my power" che non formano assolutamente una frase unica sensata dove c'è la necessità di entrambi i pezzi ("Osserva... Il mio potere!"), ma sono due molto ben separate e distinte. You might be right, i actually didn't think about it. It's definitely an unorthodox way of making a full sentence and dividing it by using two different moves but you might be absolutely right! If that's really the case then they did a really cool thing!
The only problem i find with your theory is that in the english subtitles they chose to put "Observe..." and then in the rage art "Feel my power" which don't make the same wordplay like in italian ("Observe... My power!"). With the official translation you don't feel the necessity to join both sentences to make one right and you actually can't because they are two separate and distinct sentences in english, and they actively chose to use this translations instead of pursuing the italian wordplay you proposed so i wonder what happened here, if It was meant to be a word play or not.

I hope namco bandai has addressed the teo minor problems of previous Tekken installments with Tekken 8 such as the lack of a hard and fast rule for midgard crushing and the putting players at a competitive disadvantage based on character choice rather than a player's lack of practice and skills.
Imagine Alita Battle Angel as a new character with her moves from the movie. That would possibly bring so much success to both franchises.

@@boxtupos7718 It kinda goes both ways. A lot of Jojo poses are taken directly from italian high fashion, so even non-part 5 poses were already heavily influenced by italian fashion culture. But I do certainly think it's valid to say he borrows a lot from Jojo with how he mixes that flair with martials arts and supernatural abilities.
Claudio was a character I never thought was coming back, but I am so glad that he did. He looks awesome.

@@luckluca8982 Cause the way he's fighting is not how martial arts work, tapping an opponont with a wrist or fingers dosen't knock them back and the kicking is awkward. I have trained in Jeet Kune Do for a decade and I can see he acts like a beginner. Someone like that is not suppossed to be invited to a world championship tournament, it's daft haha. Another problem is using magic in a fighting competition is cheating.
As someone who has been to Italy and got into a fight with an Italian Uber driver, this is 100% accurate.

Nope. Costumes are way too busy and loud. The textures are better, but the facial expressions of each character are still stiff and wooden, and overall fighting animation has not changed much from Tekken 1 in 1997.

Wondering what his story gonna be. Tekken 7 played it off like a villain..at least in Xiao's ending. Tekken 7 pachinko made him a hero. He definitely got potential.
I think he has to be a reluctant antihero. The anime analogue would have to be one of BLEACH's Quincies, especially as portrayed in the Thousand Year Blood War (Feud) arc. He learned something fundamental the last time he entered this tournament and now he has to devote his whole being to accomplishing this goal. For many entrants (Claudio included), winning the tournament is a bonus. They have their own goals.
Claudio's magic circles are the sickest hitspark in Tekken history. No, it's not close, and I have no idea how they're going to outclass it even in Tekken 9 if we get that far.

This to me is the best the TEKKEN team has done w/ any character visually. The way they visually improved his B4 and DF 3 strings to capture his improvement as a fighter are things I hope to see in all Tekken characters. Awesome stuff Tekken team :)

One of the original reasons Claudio's previous design in 7 felt a bit off was that the 'torn sleeve' from a fashion standpoint butted heads with the rest of his ornamental and fancy attire, so it's ice to see that the arm in question is more in harmony with the rest of his outfit. Nicely done, Bandai Namco!
