    Just installed A/C into my 68. it was a little harder than I anticipated, but well worth it in the end. Can't believe I will be riding in cold air like my other, newer vehicles. Thanks for the motivation.

    great vid wish you did more vids like this vary informative, good sense of humor, and most importantly vary real. you show a real install not like the other shows where all problems are cut out. you show the everyday guy can do something like this and you don't need a $1,000,000 shop with lifts and every tool you could ever need available

    This video inspired me and gave me the confidence to tackle a "Daily Driver" A/C kit in my similar '66 Ford Ranchero. Took me a lot longer than Ian Karr did!

      Ian, I finally have this kit on the way. Did you charge the system yourself? I can rent all the gauges and such needed when I get to that point, I was just curious if you did your own or have any tips. Thanks

    Aloha Ian , I have a 302 motor in a 66 mustang. I need crank pulley 3 bolt w/ 3 groove and a compressor brkt. And a alternator brkt w/ pulley, like your installation but i have the 302 motor, was yours with a 289 or 302 kit. Classic industries don’t have the brkts or these in there kits. Need your help. Thank you Ian and awesome video, you make it look easy !!! Aloha

      Aloha Benny. I don't recall if there were special options on the kit. I think it was just the 8 cylinder kit from Classic Auto Air. Glad you like the videos!

      Hi Jose...I needed to get the A/C working so i didn't shoot the fill. And it's been running perfectly for years, so no opportunity to re-shoot! Will def shoot it next time...

    Hi Ian, awesome video. I’m pulling off the factory air stuff from under the hood of my 66. Did you have to remove the radiator entirely? It almost seems like the mounting bolts on my old condenser also hold on the radiator. Thanks for any advice!

      Thanks, Jack. I didn’t need to remove the radiator. The condenser attaches in front. Are u going with the same unit from classic auto air?

    Gonna wait until I got my first job and get paid well to do this. But now I think Ill take this over the other kit offered by CJ Pony parts which requires computer controls and the removing of the orginal heater. Plus I need to move the under dash mounted gauges anyway because the steering wheel obstructs my view of them. And I think Ill just have someone else fill it up because I wont have the tools to do that myself.

    I had a question if you might please know. I had bought an AC kit to put on a 1966 Ford F100. it said on the modifications that a mustang kit will fit. Do you know if the harmonic balancer pulley you have to modify it or I have to get a different pulley then the mustangs. Two of the hose line up and the third one is just a little hair off if you could please help me I would appreciate it anybody.

    So this air conditioner can even be installed on a 65 ford mustang that doesn't already have an ac unit? I wasn't sure if you were replacing one of its an add on! Thanks so much! Kendra

    Nice looking car... bet it was hard to bring a hole saw to the firewall. Like that you seem like an average joe, down to the same crappy wire crimped that I use ha. How’s the air? Worth it?

      @@IanKarr I've seen that, the car right now is a variation on the 65 tropical turquoise but I want something darker. I like the twilight turquoise but I want more green in it and I think yours is pretty close. I've got a 66 in the original tahoe turquoise and I like it on that car because it has the matching interior but the 65 has a black interior and I'm just not sure.

    Would this be the same type of setup for a 1965 Galaxie 500 Factory A/C w/ 289 V8 (I Think its a 1966 289 as its blue,and i think 65 Galaxie was Black/Gold?)

      @@IanKarr been trying to find a system to make the factory A/C system that's already in the vehicle run without having its own separate unit. However, they seem to only make kits for pre 1965 galaxies.

      @@IanKarr Im considering the Perfect Fit Elite system from Classic Auto Air. Its alot more expensive and requires an electronic controller sure, but it works with factory climate controls and its AC AND heat all in one with more fan power than stock.
      I had my gagues moved up to the steering column and A pillar where they wouldnt be in the way, AND I can see them more easily.
      I still never got around to actually installing AC though.

    What did you do with the gauges next to the evaporator?

      I got rid of them and went with a more stock look.

      @@IanKarr I had to extend the power wires and ground underneath the evaporator and 3M tape them to the bottom of it.

      K. Joe Hill Hi Joe. The system lists for around a grand. Sometimes you can catch a sale at CJ pony. Totally worth it.

    Last time my friend tried to work on his car he did his valve cover gasket and his car wouldn’t run afterwards.. he mixed up the plug wires and when he tried to start it his muffler exploded from backfiring.. now it’s me that has to do his maintenance 😑

      The blower doesn't draw much power. A breaker is included with the kit, and there may be relays inside the unit...not sure

      Not much was taken off...the biggest thing was swapping the pulley on the balancer.
