Gillian is so good at telling anecdotes and stories. She always makes them entertaining with little details, descriptions, and humour.
I loved that Gillian's accent keeps shifting between American and British during this interview. She's too precious!
I noticed that too. The vowels sound British, but there's still the rhotic r sound, which is characteristic of American.
She seems to be a "method" actor so stays in character at least in her speech. I saw an interview from a month or so ago and it was strange. It wasn't Gillian's voice. It was still deep and raspy like she portrayed Thatcher.
Gillian was born in England and has dual citizenship. Might be why her accent shifts slightly.
@@DiegoRamirez-zc7fs Her family moved to England when she was very young. Then moved to USA at 11. She had to work to get rid of her British accent and adapt a more American one because she says she was being bullied in school.
PS. I love watching her in videos where there are both British and American people because she shifts between accents sooo well! And there are times you notice she tries very hard not to shift. 😊

I love Olivia Colman! My first introduction to her was on Broadchurch with David Tennant. I've loved her work ever since.
Olivia Colman seems to be a very sweet person and her part in The Crown is pure perfection. Anderson also is absolutely stunning as Thatcher. Amazing ladies.
What truly lovely women, quite obvious neither are royalists but they were able to be gracious and charming about the whole thing non the less.

She was speaking with an American accent and then Sharon Osbourne asked her something and she started to answer and stopped and said, "I'm hearing you and am slipping into your accent!"
She lived in London until she was 12, so the English elements of the accent she has now is actually more real than the American one she puts on for acting jobs in the US.

The farther into the interview the more American it gets. She's a verbal chameleon but doesn't always have control over it when she's not actively trying.

It's so strange hearing Gillian with an English accent, even if it comes and goes.
I was thinking the EXACT same thing! :) I've so many "X-Files" episodes SO many times, it's like her voice is drilled into my head! It's why, unfortunately, since I really like her, she'll just always be Scully to me. Heck, the same is true for David.

Gillian Anderson certainly doesn't sound like she is from Chicago, anymore! Image, Scully with a hint of a London accent.
You can hear a bit of her UK accent when she plays Scully. (It was her first accent... she had to learn the American one when she moved to the US as a teen). Listen to how she says "of" when she's doing an American accent and the UK one comes through.
She was only born there, she grew up in london until 11 and then her family moved back to the US. She learned to British English, but had to give up the accent to fit in

I'm sorry, but I just don't have it in my personality to address anyone as "your Majesty". Apart from the fact that it pays tribute to ancestral inbreeding, I'm not deferential like that to fellow human beings in general, and I don't believe in being such. "Your Majesty" went out with Bugs Bunny in Sherwood Forest, as he clubbed the Sheriff of Nottingham with a steel scepter.

Gillian Andersons accent confuses me. There's bits of Bristolian, bits of Geordie, bits of Yorkshire.... and she's American.
Her accent is like silly putty from her upbringing. Born in Chicago, spent her formative years in England, came back to the US for her teens and lived here until her late 30s, and now she's been living in London for the last 10 years or so. The accent ebbs and flows depending on where she is and who she talks to.
Olivia seems very nice but I struggle to like her because I keep seeing her as the Evil Stepmother from Fleabag.

I thought Olivia Colman brought a rather harsh look to the Queen. After the almost innocent portrayal of Claire Foy as a young Queen Elizabeth in contrast to almost a dowdy, world weary, cynical middle Aged Queen with Olivia Colman.
Well i think that's what age makes to most people. She had to live through a lot doining a job which seems foreign to 99% of us. Also managing her family which is not an ordinary family.
