  • Still a work in progress, this Ninja 650 was converted literally over night. Phillip and myself worked on this for over 20 hours painting, sanding, bending, cutting, and tweaking.
    Some differences to look for in the video:
    - Radiator
    -Coolant Overflow
    -Calipers
    -Underfairings
    -Headlights/cluster
    -Overall cleanliness
    -Front Tire

    We’re the headlights easy to mount up? Any problem passing inspection?

    • @StephenBaran
      @StephenBaran  Před 5 lety +2

      After some fabrication, they weren’t that difficult to mount. We don’t have inspections in South Carolina so we didn’t have to worry.

    I know this is an old ass video, but im about to convert my 650r. Is that just the factory belly fairing you put back on the bike? Did you need to modify anything for it to sit by itself?
    Looks bad ass!

    • @StephenBaran
      @StephenBaran  Před 10 měsíci +1

      The fairings and almost all parts we used were all OEM other than the headlights. I don't remember if we modified them or not since it's been so long since we did that. The brackets were all made by us to get the headlights and cluster mounted where they were.

    • @StephenBaran
      @StephenBaran  Před 3 lety

      We just painted the stock reservoir as a temp solution until he could get an aftermarket one. You can get the light off of Amazon or at a local Autozone. We made the brackets ourselves.

    Great job man. I’m thinking about doing this to mine. Just wondering what customization did you do besides the custom headlight mounts.. looks like you just took the plastics off and painted the coolant reservoir. ??

    • @StephenBaran
      @StephenBaran  Před 4 lety

      Most of the customization was painting the calipers, mocking up the new headlights and cluster bracket, and some painting. We painted the fairings matte black as well as the reservoir. Of course we did a deep clean before we painted anything.

    • @StephenBaran
      @StephenBaran  Před 3 lety

      Very late reply, but if I remember correctly, we just tapped the positive lead from the new lighting into the OEM harness and the negative on the light to the negative on the same harness. If you want to keep both the high and low beam function, tap one light into the low beam wires and the second light into the high beam wires. That way your switch still works. I do recommend getting a bit brighter lights than what was used in this video.

      @@mattduncan5500 I made the brackets myself using some mild steel (It might have been aluminum but I can't remember at this point because it has been so long lol). If I were to redo this today, I would have welded it all together so it would be 1 unit rather than bolting them all up. Bolting them worked fine for this application though!

      We bought a set of LED block lights from Orielys and just made a wire harness that ran straight to the factory plugs so the lighting could still be adjusted with the OEM light switch in the handle. No relay or anything.
