    Question. Does that rear shock still work right upside down? I have a 2012 650 im turning into a fighter as well and i just love the looks of that rear shock. Also did you have to use the lowering link cause of the shock or just by choice for ride height?

    • @zwc0442
      @zwc0442  Před 9 lety

      The shock works fine but required quite a bit of modifications to get it to fit. There is an extremely high strength sleeve that needs to be bored out 2mm in one end and it was difficult to find someone that was able to do that. Also the spring that came on the shock is something like 8kg/mm and what is on there now is about 17kg/mm and is pretty much the limit that the shock can handle and still dampen properly. My adjustments on the shock are only a few clicks away from maxed out. Also I just used the lowering link cause I like how the bike sits lower but this also caused more problems. No one makes a smaller diameter spring made to fit an r1 shock so I had to do quite a bit of modifying to the brace that is by the spring on the frame for it to clear. If I was going to do it again I would just save the headache and buy a spring built for the 650r. Thanks

    kudos to you for the awesome idea of installing the ducati tail section and the color scheme is really vibrant. I am still contemplating about the switch for the 636 shocks, how is the ride?

    • @zwc0442
      @zwc0442  Před 7 lety +1

      I've only changed the clutch Springs, had some work done to the throttle bodies Ave installed a power commander. Nothing else to the motor itself. The 09 zx6r forks made a huge difference. In handling and brakes as well.

  • @rohninjon

    How easy did the 2012 swing arm go on the 2006? I've been looking into swing arm swaps for my fighter but don't really like any I've seen. Modified or straight bolt-on the like, however I'm digging the 2012 swing arm. Thanks.

    • @zwc0442
      @zwc0442  Před 9 lety

      It is a pretty straight forward swap in. The only thing I had to do was make a spacer to fit in the middle where the pivot bolt goes thru as the 2012 and up models a portion of the frame goes thru the center of the swing arm as well.

    Great looking bike. I also have a badass street fighter 650, but it had the stock frt end on it. What did it take to retro fit that zx6 frt triple on there or was it a direct bolt on. I no any cbr frt ends fit all years, is kawasaki the same way?

    • @zwc0442

    Hi. I have been browsing trough your thread looking for clues about the rear shock.
    Did you have to modify anyting or was it a straight fit?
    What models R1 will fit?
    I to have an ER6 that needs a better rear shock :-)

    • @zwc0442
      @zwc0442  Před 8 lety

      It was not a direct fit. Had to make new bushings for the eyelets, buy a new spring and adapters and had to put a notch in the frame. Honestly buy a shock already made to fit the bike. It is more work than it was worth. And for the weight of my bike and my weight the dampening of the shock is just enough it seems. And stronger spring and the shock wouldn't have enough dampening.

    what parts do you need for the z1000 front fairing, just the plastic and windscreen or are there any back brackets that id need. will the stock bracket work (cut down)?

    • @zwc0442
      @zwc0442  Před 9 lety +1

      The fairing is a 2003 z1000 fairing used with the stock 650r headlamp. The fairing has been trimmed down quite a bit to get it to fit much closer to the forks. And as for the brackets I made all my own and mounted everything to the forks. I'm not sure if it would be possible to use the stock z1000 brackets as I didn't use them. I also made my own brackets to hold the windscreen on. Also the windscreen I used it a shorter version of the stock one. I have also cut it down shorter after this video was done.

      The swingarm didn't change anything really that I recall. It's the same geometry as the 06 one just different looking. The forks and whole front end is a massive improvement over stock. They're the showa big piston forks, radial brakes, basically like a 15 year jump in front end design compared to the stock stuff.

    Hey brotha. Was wondering about that shock. Was it a direct bolt on with no clearance issues? Of course rebuilding it and tuning it to my weight I would do.
    Truly is an inspiring build. 👍

    • @zwc0442
      @zwc0442  Před 5 lety +1

      It was not a direct drop in. Aftermarket stiffer springs for it were larger diameter so caused clearance issues with that diagonal brace under the seat. Had to notch that brace quite alot.

    • @zsamonte1174
      @zsamonte1174 Před 5 lety +1

      zwc0442 I think imma just get me a nitron spring. Didn’t do the zx6r or zx10 front end. Ended up doing a damper rod drop in tuned to my weight.
      But definitely a dope build you did. I might try the rear swing arm and get some rear sets eventually.

    • @zsamonte1174
      @zsamonte1174 Před 5 lety

      @zwc0442 question. Regarding the swing arm swap. Was it a direct swap over. Of course using the axle bolt from the 2012 and chain adjusters...
      Also is my wheel, brakes, chain and sprockets and suspension all compatible to bolt right on.
      And I will have to replace the rear set as well I saw that.

    • @zwc0442
      @zwc0442  Před 5 lety

      @@zsamonte1174 it was pretty much direct swap in if you have a complete take off swing arm. Wheels are the same although I did put a wider wheel off a zx6r on. And I did have to make a spacer between the swingarm where it used used to bolt to the frame on the newer bike there's an open portion of the swingarm on the pivot bolt. If you look at pics of a take off on ebay and compare to older swingarm you can see what I'm referring to.

    Isnt the er6n available in your country?

    • @zwc0442
      @zwc0442  Před 8 lety

      They're not. It's the 650r or the versys now. They discontinued them here iirc.

      The 650r is called the er6f in most other places.

    Which Front peg brackets did you use ?

    • @zwc0442
      @zwc0442  Před 10 měsíci

      They are arata rearsets. Theyre no longer made tho, were a really nice set if you can find em around.

      Thank you for answering my previous question.
      Did you need to change the bracket/mount/ spider for the fairing and headlight to fit, and if so could you point me in the right direction ? I found one on ebay but it is priiicey.
      I am using the z1000 handlebars and similar mirrors to yours. Couldn't find the rearsets and compatible passenger pegs so I'm going to powder coat or rattle can ( budget probably = rattle can) the stock mount.
      Thank you again.

      I got lucky and found the Z1000 mount for 50$. I expect it will line up with minimal kajiggering. Thanks. I'll post a picture soon.

    Great job mate, well done. I’m doing a very basic street fighter using an 07. Hopefully going on my channel soon.

    Where did you buy that muffler?

    • @zwc0442
      @zwc0442  Před 9 lety

      It was a $130 generic muffler off of ebay. It was originally about twice that long. I have a delkevic carbon muffler on the bike now. But still have the old one.

    is this bike a good beginner bike?

    • @zwc0442
      @zwc0442  Před 9 lety

      I think that it is a very good beginner vine and a very good bike for experienced riders as well. That's my opinion anyway. It's definitely not a Supersport bike and that's what I like about it. It's more than fast enough for myself. The power band on this motor is great for around town stuff and plenty fast for highway. Just a great all around bike.
