Sultan Murad (Metin Akdülger) learns that Kösem Sultan wanted to kill him. Sultan Murad learns that his governor has agreed with the physician and sends Emir Çelebi's head to Kösem Sultan (Nurgül Yeşilçay). Valide Kösem Sultan, who learned that Sinan Pasha was a traitor, realizes that he has been exposed. Helpless corners. Knowing that Sultan Murad will not stop anymore, Kösem Sultan takes measures to protect Şehzade İbrahim.

In the series, this was a turning point for Kosem. After Osmans death, she became cruel and started to look at her children more as rivals. She would never hurt Osman like Murad or Ibrahim, she loved him and Ahmed the most and their deaths scarred her for life.
Yh also this is when Murad became cruel when he saw his brother Osman on the donkey ,people insulting Osman

This is what shocked me the most at the time! Comparing Suleiman, who had absolute power, respect and was feared during his reign to poor Osman who was killed like a dog. He was a member of the dynasty, he was the sultan. Since this moment on the sultan didn't have the power and authority it once had anymore. I blame the end of the fratricide. It was cruel, yes, but at least it secured the sultan's position and authority.

In history their relationship was even more complex. Kosem used to take Osman on carriage rides with her in town but Ahmed forbade them from doing so later on. They did not have a strong mother/son bond in real life, but historians cite he had a fondness for her and he did visit her at the old palace. Historians are not sure if Mehmed was Kosem’s child (only Murad and Ibrahim are confirmed as her sons), so I suppose that would explain how Osman’s killing of Mehmed perhaps did not hurt her.

But under the rule of Mahmud, things change, even the dresses of the Sultans change as we see it in the portraits. from the old turban styles to a new style, the red fez.

Power and vengeance blinded most of the sultanas. They could maim and kill innocents, have members of the other royal families murdered. In their minds is was justified when they did such actions, but unreasoning injustice if someone did the same actions to them.

Osman didn't deserve such a cruel death. I don't say he didn't deserve death at all - he did, for what he did to both Mehmet and the Janissaries. But they could've killed him in a more merciful way. They were looking for a sultan they could rule that would cater to their needs and it was always more more more more. Osman II eventually wanted to re-recruit the Janissaries by taking from a pool of young men born and raised within the Ottoman Empire already. That way he felt they’d fight better because they had their loyalties in the right place (theoretically). And tbh I think that’s a brilliant idea. Ripping babies from their mothers arms just because they live in Christian territories you conquered and then raised them to be elite killing machines that are supposedly devoted to the sultan is...disgusting, to say the least.

Hello everyone i am new to watch this serial how can i know the whole history of kosem
Ottoman senior royals, all strangled to death. Well, I googled a few hours and guess Kosem herself killed not only Ibrahim but also Osman, Mustafa, Murad, and Murad's all baby sons, her own grandsons for political reasons, like killing
Murad's all baby sons for Ibrahim's survival because it made him valuable as a sole heir.
Osman wasn't killed on HER orders, mustafa died locked up in a prison years later, Murad died of illness (along with his children, none survived him as most died as toddlers thats why his brother took the throne, no need to kill literal babies until Ibrahim can prove he was fertile like Ahmet did).
Kosem is only responsible for Ibrahims death (pressure from jannisaries) and the plotting of executing her grandchildren by Ibrahim to maintain her power.
In doing so she was discovered and executed herself.
