- Reviewing enclosures is so much fun, but it's also beneficial to new time hamster owners, or people who're curious, to know if this product or not is worth it!
*Special guest pet: Velma the Gerbil*
Today we look at another Mewoofun cage, but this time the execution is...interesting. Learn about this cage, see how I build it, hear my verdict at the end of the video.

This would be a really cute snail enclosure 🥰 (with some slight mods to accommodate moisture, wouldn’t be hard though).
It could also work for moving.
A question I come across a lot on hamster forums, “I’m moving and it’s a two day driver, what should I put X in!?!?!”
It’s not glass so it’s safe to drive with and it’s an ok size for a couple days like that. Those vents are very concerning though, definitely would not use this without supervision.
You can buy tor travel a 70 quart bin which larger than this enclosure for less than $10... While the 70 quart bin is too large for quick transport to the vet, and not large enough for a permanent home, it will be large enough for a long trip across the nation...
i love that she isn’t biased and actually provides a thorough review, for example she describes the quality as being good and also adding that she likes how they nicely wrapped the pieces in plastic.. while also providing helpful information about how small it is and that it’s not suitable for syrian hamsters
I keep my syrians in diy enclosures - one of them is in cca 4x2x2 feet enclosure and the other is in Ikea Linnmon enclosure. My dwarf hamster lives in 55 gallon tank (though I'm hoping to make something a bit bigger for him soon). This "cage" seems to be about the same size as my syrian's multi-chamber hide 😅😅😅
Most likely your multi-chamber hide is too large for this tiny enclosure... Note Munchie's Niteangel wheel is too large...
@@ronclark9724 well it's true my multi-chamber hide definitely wouldn't fit into this cage 😅 however rather than my hide being too big I'd say this cage is far too tiny for any type of hamster to live in comfortably 🤷♀️ it looks very nice, it would be somewhat decent if they just made it at least twice the size it is now (though the holes in the acrylic could still be a problem if your hamster decides to chew them 😣)
@@TV-1997 To meet the new California size recommendation of 600 square inches, they need to make it three times larger... As you noted, it looks like a winner, but alas, it is another far too small loser...
@@ronclark9724who you calling Loser what TV said is correct so whos the real loser here
So im not american & I dont know how the measurements work, so I'll be doing it in dutch. But my 2 dwarfs are both in a seperate tank ofcourse yuri in a 1.10 by 50 by 60 height & Pickle in a 100 by 50 by 60 height & I couldnt imagine them in a smaller tank I just want to cry when I see it, I rescued both of em so I'm glad they have another chance to be more free, cause they came from a cage so small
I rescued my first syrian couple months ago, his cage was filthy & no sand or thing to run in, he never came out, they said. He's the oldest I have, walks a bit slower so I have him in a 1.10 tank cuz of his muscles just nog being able to move a lot anymore, still has a giant wheel if he wants to take a stroll but glad he is w me, they gave him bird feed & had lice!
Also recently rescued another syrian very young, she is in a tank right now for a week ( to see if shes healthy & to get used to me ) cause the tank I will be buying her is a lot bigger, 1.20 by 80 by 60, she will be moving into it in a week 😁
I have a syrian hamster living in a custom built enclosure. I actually used the design from Somethinganimal's channel, more specifically its the same enclosure that their hamster Lemonade is living in. So it's approximately 1300 square inches of floor space and tall enough for bedding to be piled up to 12 inches deep in all areas at a minimum. With room to probably pile up more if I had more bedding.
Me and my dad built the enclosure as my Christmas gift last year. And it wasn't all that much more expensive than some of the enclosures you see online nowadays so there is no excuse for bad enclosure being used or bought for pets!
Unfortunately some of us don't have the carpentry skills or the tools to build such a enclosure of a great size as Lemonade's domain... Erin is wonderful with designing and building her DIY enclosures... I have battle scars dealing with the steel mesh producing a DIY suitable bin lid for air ventilation using nothing but a hot blade of a box cutter, a roll of steel mesh, a wire cutter, and a package of zip ties... A 200 quart bin and lid providing over 600 square inches of hamster real estate...
@@ronclark9724 And you did so with the limited resources and skills you had at the time! You didn't give up in the face of the difficulty of attaching the mesh to the enclosure and you pulled through to make a great and suitable enclosure for your pet! I too have permanent scars from my ordeals with the drill and staple gun and mesh, but it was all worth it to see my Mr.Binx so happy!
You've proven that even with a limited skill set you were able to provide a suitable and enriching environment for your hamster. Which is something everyone should be able to do, and if they make excuses as to why they can't before even trying then they shouldn't own that animal at all and have someone who will do what it needs to give it a good life own the animal instead.
All animals deserve a comfortable and safe environment to live in, the same as us humans do. And people make mistakes, heck I housed my first hamster in a cage no bigger than a shoe box for like 2 years of her life as I watched her become more and more stressed and uncomfortable over time. But the difference between me and people who make excuses to not do the right thing is I was willing to at least try, I went online and fought countless battles with my family over enclosures and welfare until I managed to fight my way through them and got a new enclosure for her anyway, despite the comments and reprocussions they pushed onto me for doing so. And you did a similar thing by making that bin cage for your hamster even though it was hard. You fought for their happiness, and for that I thank you! Along with everyone else who did or is doing the same thing right now for the best interest for their pet!
Yay! A new Munchie review! I started watching years ago, when you reviewed a betta tank 🥰 I don't even plan on keeping small animals 🤣🙃😊 I appreciate you!!
Thanks Munchie! I have my two Syrian girls in a 75-gallon tank and Niteangel Bigger World. I also have two 40-gallon tanks which are currently without residents since my 23-month-old Syrian passed last week and the other was the previous residence of the one who is now in the Bigger World. Syrians definitely benefit from larger cages. I have seen the difference when moving an active hamster to a bigger enclosure. Too bad most of the companies making enclosures won't listen to the rodent community regarding cage sizes.
Syrians can't live together.
@@animalcrossingnerd8142 read it again, they didn’t say their hamsters where living together. They said one was in a 75 gallon and the other is in a Niteangel Bigger world. 🙄
@@animalcrossingnerd8142 pfft! "Syrians can't live together." You CLEARLY didn't read the post 😂
@@ashton5493 gotta be honest, I initially thought this too but guess what? I READ your post 😂
I currently have a trio of female gerbils in a 40-gallon breeder tank with a mesh lid, tall Niteangel platform, large size Niteangel wheel , big sand bath, ramps to climb, very deep bedding and lots of chew toys. Spoiled gerbils - yes! I also have a second 40GB tank empty and on reserve in case of declaning, which I really hope never happens, but I am prepared for nonetheless.
Another reason to keep cage reviews going: when I googled tinny tales cages your videos came up at the top. Even mixed in with the petsmart stuff lol.
5/5 stars great content. Thank you for making something awesome for us ! Its good to see you uploading again. Cheers! More please.
i did purchase this months ago thinking it was good enough until i could afford a bigger enclosure but it's definitely impossible to house a hamster in this. even though it's very nice to look at, especially with bedding, flower mix and sprays. i immediately purchased their larger enclosure (similar to the niteangel popular one but it was cheaper, i forget what it's called).
i didn't want to throw this out though so i realized i would need somewhere to put my robo when i cleaned the other enclosure. this is pretty perfect for that. i just secure the lid with something cause it's very easily pushed open. but i have it set up with water bowl, i scatter feed in it to keep him occupied, the house thing you also had in this review for him to hang in, bedding, sprays and a sand bath and he just forages and plays in his sand for probably an hour or more and by the time he's ready to get out i'm done cleaning his other enclosure.
Glad to know you are using it for other means. If you haven't, we'd recommend leaving a amazon review to help guide pet parents in the right direction. That is, if this was purchased via amazon. :) But ty for sharing your story with us. It's just nice to know that a mistake has turned into something positive, and that's wonderful.
Wood enclosures make me super nervous. I’m always afraid they’ll chew through it due to stress from factors that can’t be prevented (fireworks, car crash nearby, etc.) and what if the company lied about the type of wood?
Good luck little beans broke🫰
The gerbil is using her University education to decide if she can engineer a door out.
This one is small even for a bug 🤣🤣
My two gerbils live happily inside a Detolf 😅
My gerbil (sadly passed away) was pretty happy in its 106 qt bin cage (435-460 sq inches),but it was alone, but he never showed signs of depression since I played with him a lot
I would actually love to see you do the 3rd cage they do just for fun too.
That enclosure is so small and it's so easy for hamsters/gerbils to chew themselves out of there.
My dwarf girl would absolutely chew her way out of that. And the crappy design makes it unsuitable to use even as a travel cage, though I wouldn't waste so much money on a travel cage anyways, a smaller diy bin cage is so much cheaper and safer.
Hi, munchie! I'm so glad that you are back!! I'm constantly getting this advertisement for this "Ferplast Multipla Hamster Large" hamster enclosure, I'm curious if you are able to review it, especially since I'm from Europe and I would like to see it compared to American cages! It's sad to see that most cages here are sold in the Netherlands aren't fitting, but I feel like they are trying better with their newer cages that's why I'm so curious. My hamster passed away and we aren't adopting another one for at least a while, because we are still devastated and moving soon. So I can't try it for myself.
Are these videos old or more recent? Really hoping it was more recent because it would be really nice to see you in a better place than you were a few months ago. Love u Munchie 😊
This one was in Sept 2022. Next one will be Jan 2023.
Oh my cottage core loving heart thought of a difficult yet fun idea. A DIY, handmade, large enclosure with a roof like top, hinged opening like that lid, with properly sealed wood and ventilation, with the outside decorated to look like a cabin, with plenty of stick / log chews and bridges and hides and whatnot on the inside to make it look woodsy. Deep green or make a blue wheel with beige and white paper bedding.
This would make a good temp enclosure while moving / deep cleaning their actual home
Love gerbils!! I never see any ok my hometown craigslist but I have a 5ft tank setup just in case ❤️
Good luck with new friends little one!
Other than the size it’s a really cute enclosure
Bless you Munchie ✌️
I have my winter white dwarf in the Ferplast maxi duna multy I think it’s called, it’s about 100x50 cm and just high enough to fit a 10 inch wheel inside. I’ll upgrade her as soon as I can even if it’s over the minimum tho
Also, Savic recently came out with a "new" cage, it’s a larger version of the hamster plaza! It’s 118x64 cm large which is the largest cage (I think) on the market right now!! Would be amazing if you could review or talk about it sometime 😆
Good luck beautiful Velma❤
It really upsets me when companies say small cages are suitable for robos. Robos need big cages too. My robo is so active and being shy he does not want to go in a playpen. He has a custom made cage which is about 1090 square inches and he makes full use of his cage.
That cage is awful and more suited to a plush hamster then a real one.
This enclosure kept popping up when I was looking for an enclosure for my hamster. I didn't buy it though because I wanted to give my hamster a home and not a shoe box to live in.
I ask those who buy these tiny toy cages for their hamsters would you like to sleep every night in your 9 foot by 9 foot bedroom or would you prefer to sleep every night in that bedroom's 3 foot by 3 foot walk in closet? Now imagine living all day in either. Hamsters aren't any different, they also prefer the larger room...
Hi munchie! I have been a big fan for a long time! I am so happy that you are posting again I enjoy ur channel a lot
I’ve missed your voice sm!
You asked what we keep our hamsters in. I rescue quite a few on Craigslist. My Syrians are on 50 gallon bins. My dwarfs are in49 gallon bins with wheels. Usable space is 34x17 and 18x32 respectively. So both are about 580 square inches being conservative.
my syrian hamster is in a tank that is 100cm x 40cm x 50cm, looked it up is about 4004cm² floor space
My Bruno (a robo) is in 2x40gallon tanks and a 20gallon that are linked with safe-sized tubes. If I could I'd use a single, larger tank but my stairway is very narrow so this is the best I can do for now.
I have my gerbils in a detolf that has a high lid and my dwarf in a 120x50 cm tank . When they say small gerbil I’m wondering if they think fat tail. I can’t think of the name I’m been lazy and not googleing it 😂😂. I love seeing gerbils it makes a nice change. Hope she goes on ok with the bond. I’m dreading my time to bond but my dad will do it as he has 25 gerbils. He adopts singles and bonds and they are all in massive tanks.
thanks
I had my Syrian hamster in the prevue 528. She has been gone probably 3 years. I had my dwarf hamster in the super critter trail. She was the first to pass away. Soon after my Syrian hamster passed away. I miss them so much! I plan to get another hamster down the road. I will be keeping the prevue 528 cage for my next hamster.
I have six, about to be seven. I have three in 40 gallon breeders, two in the large Niteangel enclosures, and two in 75 gallon tanks
they just need to make this 3 times bigger and take out those side ventilations and put those on top
this seems more like it'd be a display case for something
That cage could've been so much better. I love the design, it would be amazing if it was big enough.
I'll review the larger one here soon. I'm curious how big this thing really can get.
Hi, holes are definitely useful to a hamster that's trying to escape. 😒
Got my syrian in a Detolf and my Dwarf in a homemade cage, that mesures 120x50 cm ^^
Hi munchies, how are u pairing her with others? Because it always works better with babies and doing split cage!
That's always the recommended option as they are very awkward introductions 😆
We do split tank methods and have had luck with adults and young adults. It's usually individual gerbils that are the problem. Usually with those types of gerbils, trios are recommended besides just recommending trios in general if it can be helped.
@@MunchiesPlace aw ok, bless her - they are definitely picky on who they get along with! My girls got along straight away but my rescue boy will not get along with any - multiple boys and he just won't 😔 so I've taken expert advice of just house him on his own, and try again once my boys are old and 1 passes
Useful holes😆
Omg that is so tiny!
Such a shame, there was so much potential in marketing something to compete with nightangel.
I love your reviews on cages! I also wonder if this cage in particular would be a good foster pen for neonate puppies and kittens who are only a few weeks old or less?
Have you seen that nightangel released a new enclosure ,Niteangel Stacker Series Hamster Cage
I was thinking about Getting it for my Syrian hamster, right now hes being housed in a 40 gallon zoo Med Front opening and enclosure doesn't have a lot of bedding depth and I was fleeing a really bad situation And the Enclosure ended up getting damaged and the doors don't shut the best on it now
( I was just seeing if anyone watching this video has that cage and if it's a good enough cage for hamster)
I have them. I have yet to review it so you'll see a review in the near future.
In a pinch it looks like It'd be fine, however the bedding depth and 500-600 sq inches of floorspace (I kept finding conflicting info) aren't great for the pricetag. Id spend the extra money if possible to get something from their bigger world series or the vista line
awe this sucks, it was so close to cool! I am planning to get a micro scorpion and actually this seems great for that
Hi i love your videos
Big bed you have there
That looks way too small just from a photo! Am I wrong?
Could it work for a robo or dwarf hamster if you buy two and diy them together?
mine all have 40 gallon tanks so no assembly required!
This might be good (but too expensive) as carrier. Maybe you have to travel and want keep your creature in more bedding and larger place than a regular carrier. Besides that, nope LOL
I have bought to my hamster a skyline marrakesch and then I upgraded to a living world eco habitat (the medium one). And before I got him, he lived in a plastic cage smaller than Memoofun. If i have to use small cages (I still have the old temporarly one), it will be only to travel
I would not recommend this. This does not have any latches and it is not escape proof so I would recommend it as only holding or photography.
@@MunchiesPlace ofc, it's just an idea lol but I doubt someone is going to buy it as carrier or just for photos, too expensive. I wouldn't buy it tbh 😆 i have the classic hammy carrier, it's cheaper too and safest.
And, well, if i have to say that: this thing is not good even for photos. But because people can see the photos and think that's a good enclosure. People are lazy, they wouldn't even read the description of the photo.
If we want really give it a use: temporary enclosure for the deep cleaning? But still, too expensive for a use like that 🙈
I would not house any of my hamsters that enclosure that I would help him in a preview 28 cage
Honestly I find it sad that for cats dogs ad even snakes there’s so much care and basically anything that’s a small animal doesn’t get the same care and items like you can find a cat house that’s huge like 5 tiers and hella wide for 400$ but god will explode and smite us all if we get anything bigger for a small animal like hamsters and mice
I need an extra ray gun
Algorithm comment🐹
Wait so the lid is just loose? ??
Correct. No latches.
@@MunchiesPlace 🙃🙃🙃 if my Syrian can escape a bin cage with a wire lid by pushing stuff around his cage and climbing up and pushing himself through the wire and the lid, a hamster can get out that in no time. 😅 (also, don’t worry, my hamster has been put in a new cage 😮💨🤣)
Robo in a 200qt bin cage
I have my Syrian in a 200 quart bin as well. Its about the largest clear bin in stock at the stores that stock storage bins... My hamster enjoys living in his bin domain showing no signs of stress...
That tiny cage is so depressing 😅
I'm wondering if this would be OK for 1 single male mouse?
If people don't wanna be deceived by descriptions all they have to do is to get their bored a$$es and google basic animal care info and do their own damn research..really in the century we live in where even grannies surf the web, there is NO valid excuse for why some people don't do research for the pet they wanna get BEFORE they get it.

Horrible cage... it's sad... and sooo not a good idea to put gerbils in there, and gerbils are bigger than dwarf hamsters, so I can't even see how two gerbils would fit in there....
This cage..um no.
This cage is awful.
I'm glad to say I'm not part of that 54% 😌 I am very reoccurring hmhmmm 🥲 My god, those freaking films are my worst enemy😤 Would love this for my stuffed hamster toy
I like the idea of stuffed animals in a small cage, cute, but $60 is a bit steep for a stuffed animal accessory.
@@donnarn2727 One can buy a 38 quart bin from Walmart and not even DIY the lid for air ventialtion for a stuffed hamster for less than $10...
