Dominic your contributions to cancer research have changed my life. Instead of killing myself with chemo I am in a KR diet, use infared and sauna and was doing HBOT . No new brain tumor growth in 8 years. Also … my seizures are gone

This is very helpful and useful information. I didn't know that drug-resistant epilepsy was an actual thing. My doctors often just get frustrated that I don't respond well to anti-epileptics for my seizures. I was the one that asked THEM about the keto diet and I've been trying to figure it out on my own while they monitor my blood work (which was at "near-perfect levels" last time). It's tremendously helpful. Having more science to build a foundation on its beyond helpful to me. So thank you very much for your presentation.
It may interest you to know that I had a stroke in 2010 and was in a wheelchair for nearly a decade. After a year on the keto diet I was able to ditch my wheelchair. A second year on keto and now I don't need any walking aids whatsoever.
Now tonic clonic seizures are manifesting asking with narcolepsy, which I was recently diagnosed with (along with acute sleep apnea). I notice a significant change in my functionality the higher my ketones are.
Again, I'm rather on my own here. My focus don't seem to know much about the keto diet and no one had ever brought it up to me. So I'm very grateful for your presentation and references for further research.

You have done so well it is hard for some of us that is for sure, how did you get Epilepsy, was it after the stroke? I was left with CPS in 2005 after numerous blows to the head which damaged the "Left temporal Lobe" through DV. I was having seizures 6 months apart until they started me on Epelim which I stopped suddenly because of the side effects. This then bought the seizures monthly, usually around the same time of the month when my hormones changed, I would have a round 4 - 6 CPS over a few days. . I am now 61 and they are still happening around the same time but over the past 2 years they have turned into Drop Seizures, I have had about 6 over the past 2 years. I recently had 2 bad falls where I hit my head on the ground, and MRI & a CT scan were taken and all seems ok except they want me to start back on medication which I stopped in 2011 because of the side effects. I am refusing the medications at present & have been looking into Keto & Cannabis, and Stem cell, anything but meds. I have tried CBD oil but have had more information through one of the Brain Injury FB pages I have contacted. I was on a walking stick for 4 years after lifting my father after he had a fall, it took me 6yrs to get back to walking after 2 Orthopedic surgeons told me I would never get off the stick. They 1st of all told me it was bursitis & I would be up & walking in 8 months. I have been listening to different Drs talking about the Keto but think I am going to have to find a Dietician & find a Dr for support. I have stopped sugar, found a low-carb bread, I eat good fruit & vegs, Grass fed organic meat, and Good quality eggs anyway. I had to stop all alcohol, choc & good quality ice cream.

@@LifeIsWonderful675 I remember getting "the shakes" as a kid, and I got narcolepsy (which is also treated by the keto diet) after a concussion when I was 11. I've had several concussions since then, one really big on in a car accident when I was 18. I approached my GP about the keto diet because I learned that it was originally to treat epilepsy and my doctors would often try to put me on anti-depressants and anti-epileptics for chronic migraine. I failed all my eeg tests, but I'm going in soon to have a week-long stay where I'll be hooked up to eeg wiring, so they can monitor me longer term to see what's going on. I put myself on the keto diet, did as much research as I could (the Epilepsy Foundation is a good place to start), then slowly weaned myself onto the keto diet. I have my doctor check my bloodwork every 3 months to make sure I'm okay, and it helps me calibrate when I have too much salt or cholesterol. Mostly my bloodwork is great. My seizures got worse after my stroke for sure, but since I was drug-resistant (or just "resistant" to most of my doctors), I was really just left to my own devices. Fortunately, I have a great GP now who listens, let's me be a part of the conversation. When I say I want to try something like keto, he's supportive as he can be, but they don't have a dietician that is trained in it.
My new neurologist just set me up with that new eeg study and a keto dietician, but I haven't seen them yet. I hope you can find some good resources and peace.

@@barmeyblonde Lucky you have supportive Drs, my new GPs just said do this or go away until you are ready to do as the Neurologist says, no help at all I won't be going back to him. I didn't see a Neurologist for 10 yrs but went back last year & refused the drugs again, I'm sure they wonder why I go back, the Neurologist didn't even bother seeing me last time. Nobody has ever spoken to me about the Keto diet. Went back this year after the 1st bad fall & they wanted me to try the drugs again and then see them in 3 months. I haven't stated Keppra & have just been researching for months. Next week I am going to try to find a HELPFULL GP & see if I can find a Dietician or contact John Hopkins for some help before I succumb to drugs again. Hope all goes well in the hospital. My mum recently had a slight stroke & ended up in a wheelchair & a home as I could no longer care for her. She had been in pain for 3yrs 24/7 after a butcher removed her gallbladder.

@@LifeIsWonderful675 I've cycled through so many doctors who have tested me the same way. It's maddening. But if they aren't helping you, you aren't obligated to stay with that particular doctor. They're hard to find, but they are out there. Trust your instincts, know your needs, and make sure you are treated with respect. Meantime, lots of good resources of record and lifestyles of those who file the keto diet for therapeutic readings and not just to lose weight as a fad diet. I wish you luck!

@@barmeyblonde How are you going with the diet, it takes a while sorting it on your own? I saw a Naturopath that was no help & put me on a low carb diet in Sept for 3 months which did not help. I stopped all fruit & veg 17/12/22 when the Low Carb diet was not working, I was still having the occasional coffee & my French earl Grey tea in the mornings which did not help either. I have listened to many of the Drs like Dr Berry, Anthony Chaffee, Bart Kay, Shawn Baker etc. I decided to have a consultation with Bart Kay but he is pushing a lot of vitamins and tablets to change stem cell which may be a help I am not really sure. Anyway I have not started the vitamins he recommended but am trying to get the Keto/Carnivore diet sorted. One month ago I stopped coffee & the tea also and am only having red meat, lamb, bacon, fish & eggs and see if my seizures come this month, they are due around the end of most months. I am going to join one of the Drs pages as a patron but have not decided which one yet, Dr Berry or Dr Chaffee.
