Quite a different beast to the other Big Ball's. Completely unique cyclone system as compared to any other Dyson, it uses the ejecting bin spine as the fine dirt collect chamber - also sticky bin is a common problem.

I bought the first cinetic big ball (1200W) instead of this one (700W).
The drop in power was forced by changes in regulations.
Its the only reason a second set of models had to be launched, but the cyclonic effect on finer particles doesnt work so well on the 700w cinetic models; needs high velocity, which brought an end to the range.
Also had a knock on affect on the turbine brushes as show in this video.
Dyson tried to challenge the regulation, but unfortunately lost.

I don't think Dyson's discontinuation of the cinetic vacuums is as simple as "they don't actually work."
many people out there did not heed by the max fill line on these machines, overfilling them and plugging the shroud, reducing airflow and causing the performance of the cyclones to decline, allowing dust to pass through to the motor. word of the motor failure caused by that spread around, and as such they sold poorly.
as to why they haven't included this technology in their cordless vacs, I believe that it would not work as intended due to the handhelds being both variable speed, and much weaker than their corded counterparts.

Roger, there isn't alot to like about this design of the Dyson cylinder range. Mum got one to replace her old DC08 and it is terrible, so much to the point that she went and got one of the new Electrolux C9's which are awesome and it completely outclassed this Dyson.
Don't know if you found this, but with this range the dust doesn't distribute evenly in the container and mum's one squealed through one of the connection points e.g hose to handle, or handle to wand. It also if much more cumbersome to move. Sorry for the long comment but thought I'd share with you.

The new multi floor 2 kept turning itself off on my carpet. Took it to the Dyson store. The guys there told me that the new multi floor 2 model was having problems. The animal 2 is very good, but hard to push if you have a dense carpet like I do. Many consumers run into problems with the Dysons because as you pointed out you have to clean them after you use them. I think it easier to have a bagged vacuum.

Calvin Cai no. I bought the previous Cinetic version of this machine with the higher wattage and the tools aren’t compatible with the quick release tools on the cordless range. I complained to Dyson who responded by saying that the tools for their corded models aren’t designed to be used on their cordless models. Weird considering the the DC54 came with some of the same tools as the V6. I ended up with 16 different tools, half of which could be used on my corded Dysons and the other half on my V8. I’ve since sold all of my Dyson corded machines and moved on to Miele.

I haven’t used this cleaner very often to notice a smell. Dirt can build up inside the cyclones of bagless cleaners and can cause the exhaust air to smell, but so can bagged machines. Smell is more noticeable if you have pets. Some vacuum cleaners have charcoal filters that can reduce the smell, but they don’t always work 100%.

For me this the most shitty vacuum cleaner I have ever bought (especially of Dyson). After one year following annoying things occur:
    - The endpiece of the cleaner makes a very annoying rubbing sound on hard floors.
    - The dust reservoir unlocks when you grab the cleaner by the handle it is designed for
    - The electrical cord spins itself up while cleaning (not locking into place)
    - The hose handle does not stick on the cleaner when stored (it comes loose everytime, obviously the plastic is to flexible)
Never will I buy Dyson again!
