- "Tennessee Whiskey" has been praised for its timeless quality, drawing comparisons to classic country and soul ballads. The song's lyrics explore themes of love and devotion, using the metaphor of Tennessee whiskey to convey the depth of the singer's feelings. It has become a fan favorite and a staple of Stapleton's live performances.
The success of "Tennessee Whiskey" helped propel Chris Stapleton's career to new heights, earning him numerous awards and accolades. It also played a significant role in introducing a wider audience to his music and establishing him as one of the leading voices in contemporary country music.
"Tennessee Whiskey" is a song recorded by American country artist Chris Stapleton. It was written by Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove and was originally recorded by David Allan Coe in 1981. However, Stapleton's rendition gained significant popularity when he included it on his debut studio album, "Traveller," released in 2015.
Stapleton's version of "Tennessee Whiskey" became a major hit, receiving critical acclaim and commercial success. The song showcases Stapleton's soulful vocals and his ability to infuse country music with elements of blues and southern rock. The powerful and emotive performance resonated with audiences, and it quickly became one of Stapleton's signature songs. - Zábava
While Chris didn’t write this, he is a great writer. That’s how he started. He suffers stage fright. He watches his wife to calm him down. He started performing at the request of his wife…every great man has a great woman yall. 💥❤️🎶🔥🙌🏻
Was originally David Allan Coe, then George Jones. I don't support Allan coe. But I'd love for them to listen to the Steeldrivers (Chris was their singer for a good while).
And she can sang!
This is a original david Allen coke song
You should do reaction to Chris Stapleton sometimes I cry.
Thank you guys for not stopping the song and hearing it all the way!
Twang? In THAT performance? Dude, that straight up gospel soul singing right there.
I respect him even more because he worked to become relevant. Small shows, clubs, bars. No tik tok or fake stuff. Chris is as real as they come in 2023. God Bless you CS.
Don't let anyone fool you into thinking that this is a Country song. It is Straight Up Blues. Period. It is a Great song!!
I love Chris but I really love his wife for being his anchor and calming his anxiety by singing with him both very beautiful strong soulful voices❤
That's how we do in the KY!Lol!He's from Kentucky we are so proud. ❤Yall are awesome!
Can we just take a minute to acknowledge Morgan. Chris is arguably one of the greatest singers of our time and Morgan can hold her own signing along side him. Makes you wonder what she could do as the lead on her own song.
She can saaaannnggg
She is fantastic on her own and also compliments Chris perfectly.
Morgane has a cover of You are my Sunshine that is fantastic.
@@jodidavis1178 Thanks I will check it out.
That isn't country! That is soul music.
I know that's right!
I agree 100%
Truth is, it is blues with faint echoes of country
I have to agree with the younger dude, older country music and blues are a mirror image of one another. Both genres are great storytelling of regular blue collar people and their struggles. Songs about love, family and the lord. It’s a shame that their fan bases are often at odds with one another. New country music is NOT even close to classic country music.
Most country music performers are unabashidly Christian and celebrate their faith...
My daddy told me years ago music unites us all if you allow it...to me the blues is the black country music and country is white blues music...its all about where your raised...lol I probably didn't express it correctly hope it's taken like I mean.
@@coonshine1 yeah…..? Was there something in my comment that suggested otherwise?
Country music is white folk soul music. Proves that we have way in common than they tell us.
Chris and his wife have 5 children. You know there has got to be some great talent in at least one of those kids!
His wife said in an interview how she feels about him writing songs for her, and she said, "Well, I stay pregnant all the time." 😆
Chris is more blues than country, IMO. He has a lot of great stuff but one you should definitely check out is his performance of "Cold" on the CMA awards. Another great artist that sometimes mistakenly gets labeled as country is Jason Isbell, who is more Americana/blues.
You are correct, he is a country artist but so many of his songs are structured like blues, the vocal phrasing, and chord progression are all blues.
The blues began in the Mississippi Delta. I grew up in Memphis and this is the sound of Memphis that influences country music. Country music includes rock, blues, and bluegrass.
Bros, you got to see him do james brown its a mans world. He tears it up. Also whipping post by the Allman Bros. Its such fire it even killed smokey the bear!
The boy got pipes!
The boy can sing! Even if you listen to his bluegrass band The Steeldrivers (sp) his talent is undeniable.
Welcome to Chris' World. His rendition of the anthem is one of the best .....
Your enthusiasm is so infectious. This is how the world should be - see talent, enjoy talent, no agenda.
My guy in the middle loves that "warm as a glass of brandy" line lol
Chris is not country. He is his own genre mix of blues and rock. He just wears the hat.🤷♀️😜😎
Wouldn’t Chris Stapleton be amazing doing “I put a spell on you” CCR style.
No
@@donnierichardson2309 have you heard John Fogerty sing? He and Chris have very similar range and style.
Yes I have CCR is one of my favorite bands I grew up listening to CCR and a lot of other great 60’s and 70’s bands and I do not think that it would be a good sound for Chris to do anything of CCR and the song Tennessee whiskey is a song that should be left to George Jones or David Allan cole this is my opinion. 😊
Listen to George Jones sing Tennessee Whiskey and let me know what you think.
I've listened to alot of Chris Stapleton he's always got a smooth sound to him has a lot of soul when he sings.
Chris is channeling Al Green and Stevie Ray Vaughn in this one ❤
The song "Cold," by Chris during the CMA awards was a one of my favorite performances of his. Watch also his performance of "This is a Man's World."
W h a t?

Love Chris!!! Listen to his performance he did with Justin Timberlake!! On the award show!! My goodness !!
I discovered Chris Stapleton right here on youtube. Watching reactions. I'm a fan. Big time!! ❤❤❤✌️
You did not f anything up! It's all good!
He has a couple 420 friendly songs, “Might as well get stoned” and “Them stems”. I’m going to see him live in July!
Always a good show. Just caught em here in Illinois. Marcus king and war and treaty opened. Killer
You all need to hear him playing our National Anthem at 1/2 time. Best version next to Whitney Houston. Love how he let the lyrics shine.
Subbing to watch more Chris Stapleton reactions. COLD (CMA) is the one!!!
I love all of his music. I love Cold, Death Row oh heck all of them.
"Cold" at the CMA awards, incredible performance!
I really like JT and Chris Stapleton, Say Something. It's really good!
Need to let them hear Chris sing........ It's a man's world 🌍
You need to hear him sing “Death Row”. A wonderful blues sound and his personal favorite
More Chris: "I Was Wrong" - "Joy of My Life" - and Willie Nelson "Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground" 💚🤙
Check out his performance of I Was Wrong at the same concert. Amazing.
Welcome to The Chris fan club. He has so many good songs- most that that he has written. "Sometimes I Cry" @ the Bing Lounge, "I was Wrong" Austin City Limits performance, "Cold" CMAs, "Death Row" Wanna Get Stoned" are some good ones to start with.
Covers "This Is A Man's World" live, "Whipping Post"
All of what you said 100%!
This is an old country song! Old country is the best type of country music.
There is a bluesman in that country boy. See him live. Always a good show.
More Chris live please!!!!
Mr. Older Black Man in the middle of the screen - you and I are groovin'. Your reaction matched mine 100%. You're hooked into the same universe that I am. 👍
George Jones sang this back in the day. I love the way Chris does it so much better. I was raised on the George Jones version. My momma was a huge country and western fan.
Sometimes I Cry, I was Wrong, Cold, live is the only way to go.
If you ever get a chance to see him live. Do it! He is amazing.
Just so ya know...this man can sing anything...anything!
Chris is amazing 🔥 ❤❤
I agree with you. I prefer the old country to the modern stuff.
MORE CHRIS STAPLETON PLEASE ❤ "COLD" LIVE AT 2021 CMA AWARDS
You need to listen this song with just Chris and his guitar. Absolutely amazing.
Great reaction on Chris from all three of you guys. I have to agree it sounded like Soul/blues to me, but with a country twang. Made for a beauitiful mix. Really enjoyed your thoughts thank you.
There is a real good mashup of Chris Stapleton , TW, and Angelina Jordan, I’d Rather Go Blind. She just turned 12, sitting on her couch recording with her new mic, and she is freekin phenomenal!
I saw him in Raleigh last summer. He is a once in a lifetime type of talent
You are so right the older 60-70’s country is the best ! Now days the country is country pop music ! And Alabama is fantastic ! Enjoyed the reaction !❤
You don’t want that song to end, just keep playing pls. ❤️
Chris did covers of "whipping post", " all that matters", and "shameless". They are incredible.
I love Chris! A voice for the ages! Any song!
That’s his lovely wife, Morgan, up there with him. ❤
It's the Blues ❤
It's great to know you love listening to Chris he's a great songwriter and singer, husband, and father very humble man. Kindly listen to him singing Cold.
He can (and has) sung in almost every genre and knocks it out every time. Albums are great, better live, just about no “filler “ songs!
Suggestion: “I Was Wrong “ from same concert (and yes, he sings Gospel too!).
Country like rock, has many branches.
I love the guy in the middle man 💃🏻🎶😂
I've watched several reaction channels. Chris Stapleton has been at the forefront of a lot of them. Bringing people, no matter the background, together. Great reaction!!😊
Pure delta blues!!
Brother man in the middle was vibing so cool had me doing it,his smile was just as powerful ❤ loved his reactions made me feel good.thank you for sharing.
First time hearing Chris but heard others sing this song, so had to check out the original, and not disappointed! I agree doesn't not sound country.
Should hear I Was Wrong.....at this concert!!!
Alabama has over 40 #1 hits!!! To many to choose from!!
Don’t know their names but guy in the middle was just smiling that was great.
Brother I was in that same baptist church........ Amen!
Straight Blues!
He's awesome. He and Meagan together are the real deal. His music goes back many years and he's written MANY songs for other artists. Nothing about him is average. He has a special voice and knows how to use it.
Chris Stapleton is a Musician's Musician. 'Nuff Said. Thank you guys for your channel! Seems like always dong the right thing. I know you two Greybeards had some grounding in real blues and in old-time R&B -- it shows. Cheers!
OS country has stories, real writers and real feeling behind it. And Alabama is 🔥🔥
Do it please. 😊
It’s soul guys it’s the southern soul your grand dads loved
good sharing, good reaction, all soul
I like how one person commented about it, it is more in the style of Blues with a country twang. LOL great great song. 💜💜
Just listed to TPain both are very good but I gotta say Chris Stapleton
First time checking out your channel and I gotta say, I’m impressed. No gimmicks, no stupid catch phrases, just down to earth reactions. Subbed!
Two things to check out - Their performance on NPR Tiny Desk Concert and from the CMAs his performance of Cold.. Both AMAZING!!
The only way to hear this guy is LIVE! Check out Chris Stapleton live at the Bing Lounge Sometimes I cry.
There's a great little video on YT where Chris Stapleton is in the audience at a Tyler Perry show. He get's up and sings a little Tennessee Whiskey! Also gotta check out Chris' - I Was Wrong! I recommend studio version first then the live.
Chris Stapleton's Concert's are absolutely amazing. A few "old style" classic country songs I hope you find are like George Straight's Amarillo By Morning , and the new ones like "Zac Brown Band - Highway 20 Ride", Old Dominion's "One Man Band", and Darius Rucker's "If I Told You" All story telling and are about life, one more :) This one, Jamey Johnson - In Color All country :)
There is not, never has been nor ever will be a better chill and/or drinking song than this.
Its so easy listening.
Hella Bro! There’s been two countries since the beat sing that ever lived! Patsy Cline ..empress!
Love this song!
I've seen him live several times. I like his studio recordings but his live performances are awesome!
This is based off of Etta James “I’d rather go blind” soul for real !
Reaction - Easy on me Gabriel Henrique ❤
In Constant sorrow its a good song
Also, pretty sure he was from Louisville, Ky., was only in Nashville a few weeks & began as a song writer, then shortly thereafter joined in a band.
History in the making.
He is from Paintsville, Kentucky which is in Eastern KY. His roots are in bluegrass music and he used to sing with The SteelDrivers.
@@dollcf6722 Yeah, I knew about the Steeldriver band, and sit ins on others, but after this post I went back to see the area they were from. The article didn't say if his wife was also from his home town, not that it matters, but since it's such a beautiful romance and love between them, it would have been nice if the article could have been more detailed on her life as well. She's pretty awesome in her own right too.
I think their children will also be a gift to masses, if they should so choose to be.
I believe I remember reading or hearing in an interview that they were high school sweethearts
@THISISITReactions Great reaction! Just sub’d! I hope you guys react to Chris’s performance at “2021 CMA Awards “Cold”! It’s 🔥. Also his performances “I Was Wrong (Austin City Limits) 6-7 minute version where he plays epic guitar solo at the end! And “Sometimes I Cry (Bing Lounge)” performance!! Chris is blues, soul, R&B, a lil rock &Outlaw Country all in one amazing voice! He’s in his own genre!!! He writes all his own songs unless he sings a cover! He’s a living Legend!! Thanks
New sub here cuz of chris Stapleton! Please play more?!!!
Gonna see him June 8th. Can't wait
He is a favorite. His voice is very bluesy.
Achy- breaky heart! LOL! That's like my go- to song for random silliness, especially in a work situation or something. And I WILL tap my ankle and knee while I shuffle to the side.
Chris Stapleton.. Yeah wow, he's something else. Especially live. "Fool me again" you should watch, if ever there was soulful country/ bluegrass (not sure what to call it), that's it.
Anxious to see y'all react to some more Chris. "Cold" at the CMAs please.
