Wishing Strategy Advice for Everyone | Genshin Impact

- In Genshin Impact resources are limited for almost everyone. Here are my top pieces of advice on building a good strategy for getting the characters and weapons that you want to enhance your account and get the most out of the game.

I usually just say this ( for F2P ):
If you're a casual and not looking to clear Spiral -> Just pull for who you want. Worth noting that If you have to think before rolling for someone, it's likely that you'll get a variant of "buyers remorse" right after rolling for them.
If you're looking for the fastest path to clear Spiral -> Just save wishes for meta 5 stars ( and characters on their team ), whilst saving starglitter for characters like Xingqiu, Bennett and Xiangling. You don't need to spend gems on 5 star weapons, since if you just run meta teams with decent f2p options, you can easily clear abyss.
Remember, this is a video game. Play it in a way you enjoy, that's the entire point. If you don't enjoy the game, drop it and come back when you feel like playing it again.

I thought I just wanted to go through the story and the open world, but I'm already grinding artifacts and I haven't finished Inazuma yet at AR 50 😂
I just wanted to get my xiangling from c1 to c4. Spent 120 wishes, got ayato and c6 kuki but NO xiangling whatsoever :(
4 stars are so annoying to get. I also wanted C4 Xiangling on my F2P account, managed to get her C3 luckily, so I'm going to see if I can save the starglitter for getting Xiangling's C4 in the shop in January.

4 stars are harder to get than 5 stars now a days lol, back in the days it was so easy to get a c6 4 star
I want at least c2 ayato instead i got c6 kuki, xiangling and kirara. If only we can swap character among players. I’m f2p. Only bought battle pass.
Buy her from the shop, and get another copy from Lantern Rite.
I also was at c1 Xiangling, I was at 24 pity from pulling on Neuvillette banner, did 48 wishes on Ayato banner all the way to 72 pity, got 2 Kiraras, 2 Xianglings for c3 and one Kuki. The. Few days later did 20 pulls on weapon banner trying to get my first Widsith, got another Xiangling for c4, got Widsith and Fav lance.

i never pull for new characters. I wait for the re-run. By then there have been enough CZcams videos to show the strengths and weaknesses without all the hype.
I pulled for Navia, she was extremely strong in the trial (tricky but enough to see potential) and extremely fun to play. But then I have most of the best characters who are enough for me to get 3 wishes from each Abyss; while meta is superfluous those 6-7 wishes (no 36* so far) are good to have, as long you don't pull characters you don't like just for it.
New players though should focus on the top characters they like.
I've always just pulled for who I liked on their first run as soon as I could since genshins launch and never had an issue doing any content. It's a single player game where the content is designed to be cleared by children. It isn't hard enough for meta to even be a thing when Barbara can 36star the abyss doing the lions share of damage lol. It's just an illusion for elitist and content creators.

And odd that's what you took away from my post. But the point is, the game isn't hard. In fact its really easy. It doesn't matter who you pull for, you can complete all the content in the game with easy minus floor 12. And with game knowledge and some investment, that becomes tackleable with any unit as well. So unless you're specifically into speed running, the 'strength' of a character should be a non factor In who people decide to pull.

Advice for Beginners
Look for Chests
there isn't much reason to ascend past AR 50 unless your a masochist for some reason. The overworld rewards only gain a small bump to their drop rate it's honestly not worth it as that's the ONLY benefit everything else is just pain and suffering. BUT at least get yourself to AR 40- AR 45 to be able to get Gold tier equipment
Worst case scenario you can lower your World Level by 1 until YOU think your strong enough to survive.
WARNING Remember to Upgrade TALENTS every 5-10AR levels or your Characters are Going To Die A LOT MORE for YOUR Laziness.
Focus on Your Supports first, then the DPS units, build two teams Don't go bonkers with resources or your going to NOT Have a fun time when it comes to leveling up Resources have a COOLDOWN and Genshin's stamina system "RESIN" is honestly a royal pain in the ass so bare that in mind.
Don't Trash the Blue weapons a lot of them have some Stupidly Broken AF effects and the Black Iron Sword from Liyue in particular is the ONLY one in the game and even at rank 0 it's got some broken Buffs.
Dragon Tails a Catalyst or Book weapon is another busted 3* weapon offering a Massive attack boost for 12.s.just by swapping characters. The other Benefit to 3* weapons is that they can easily be limit broken without needing the gacha. Also there is a particular Set of 3 * weapons that offer Lifesteal and Healing which is perfect for self-sustain or solo Overworld runs or if you simply lack a shielder or healer on your current team. Lock this set which normally appears red or green in color as they are absurdly rare 3* weapons some of which are even rarer than some 4* weapons.
The Generation 1.0 4*'s are ALL Overly Broken as hell so level them ASAP, Especially Bennett.
Barbara is good against Pyro units plus overworld exploration = REVIVE Me and Walking Healing tower. Much like Qiqi.
Bennett's boosts are Broken AF, Just DO NOT Unlock his 6* Constellation or it'll close off several builds to you as it CANNOT Be Undone.(Just pretend his C6 doesn't exist and think of the explanation tab by his icon as an indicator for Page 1 thru whoever was before or after him..hilariously this makes it easier to naviagate in the selection screen)
Xingqiu (I hope I spelt that right?) is essentially a 4* Yelan without the superspeed, but instead gets Virgil's swords from DMC. Seems like a fair trade-off. He has absurd Hydro application even higher than some 5* heroes.
Xiangling is able to keep her burst out for a crazy amount of time on or off field and it'll keep going until it's timer ends. Resulting in crazy pyro based reactions and a stupid amount of overall dmg over time.
Id Recommend Building Geo Traveler if You Lack a Geo Unit for about the 1st half of the game, But Personally Dendro Traveler is Second only to Nahida sooo it's normally better to go that route once you unlock Sumeru. I wouldn't touch Electro or Hydro traveler because their trash. Anemo is okay for narrow paths or Pyro focused team because Fire tornados are just plain hilarious down narrow paths and hallways.
Weirdly Kaeya can be built as a fricken strong DPS if your patient enough. So if Your short a main dps for a while then roll with the Favonius Knight Capt. he maybe a sneaky slimeball but he's got your back, think of him like this game's "SAMPO" but more trust worthy.
Run Amber for Pyro puzzles and to snipe the Anemo and Electro Hippostasis bosses and the Cryo Regisvine aside from that she's replaceable.
Collei is needed for certain puzzles but aside from that Dendro Traveler is just Massively superior.
Noelle Everyone should have a Noelle she just fits anywhere and everywhere Master of None.
Best LIMITED 5*'s in the game thus far.
ALL of the Archons, Venti, Zhong-li, Raiden, Nahida, & Furina all 5 of them can Overhaul an account to be nearly broken.
Other amazing 5* Yelan, Neuvillette(Probably the most powerful DPS Hydro unit in the game that it's almost comical) Shenhe, Kazuha, Xianyun Notice a pattern? Most of these are Supports or Hydro Units.
Honorable Mentions Hu-Tao, Yoimiya, Ayaka, and Ganyu for DPS as needed.
Best Standard 5*
Jean, Diluc, Tighnari, Keqing, & Mona these five are SS tier. Be warry though YOU NEED Xianyun to allow Diluc to utilize Plunge Attacks which is his strong point. Also you want to stick Keqing in a Dendro comp to truly utilize her at her best. Mona when used in tandem with Bennet outputs an almost comical amount of damage.
Best for overworld movement tends to be MOST Anemo units Yelan, Ayaka, Kirara, or Mona
in the abyss you also need a team that synergize with each other
Thank you for the information . It's nice to be given numbers for wishing for 4 star and 5 star . I learned something after years of playing it 😅.
I tend to agree with most of these recommendations.
That being said, I'd like to share another way to look at the whole question.
First, let's consider the facts that Freemogems are difficult to come by, and that it takes a long amount of time to accumulate... especially as a F2P player.
Let's say you've been saving your Freemogems for a long time, and you finally wish on a Banner for a character that you want.
Things don't always go the way you expect them to, so let's say you ended up *losing the 50/50,* and finally got your desired Character in the next 70-ish pulls. Maybe you've spent around *120-150 wishes* for your character.
*(All Hypothetical. Could be less, could be more)*
To accumulate all of these wishes, maybe you've had to play every day for a couple/few months. All of that time adds up, and "wasting" half those wishes for a non-wanted character feels incredibly bad (when losing 50/50s).
In comparison, spending $50-$100 on the game (which is usually worth ~1-5 hours of work in the majority of jobs) doesn't feel so bad after all!
(compared to the *months of saving you've had to do in the game.* )
That is what we call "disposable income". Some people are quick to frown upon spending money in games. To them I ask: What is the most important thing anyone has in their Life?
For me, I would have to say *Time.*
You literally only get it *Once.*
Every instant happens exactly *Once,* and once it passes, you can never get it back.
Every moment is a *"Once in a lifetime moment."*
There's no going back.
There is nothing more valuable than the Time you have left in this single Lifetime of yours.
*(in my opinion, of course)*
So, following in that direction, we could say that spending a bit of money in the game can more than make up for the *Large amount of time wasted to gather all of these Freemogems.*
You can always get more Money.
You can never get more Time.
(That being said, I'm a F2P who had saved for almost a year just to C6 my favorite character when their rerun came back Hahahahahaha)
(No but seriously, I've been thinking about this for a little while now, and it's actually helping me play the game less and enjoy life more. There are other characters I am interested in C6'ing, but I don't have to worry about it as much anymore. I don't have to keep grinding every day as much as possible just to get the most Freemogems I can. That is a lot of time that could be spent doing better things! *You can always get more money. You can never get more time.* I know I've said it before, but I felt like repeating it ;) )
Yep, absolutely agree, though I would add that there is also some extra fun to be had, either way. F2P has the challenge of limited resources and fewer characters and weapons, and therefore requires more strategy. Spenders get more characters, allowing for greater combinations to try. There's something for everyone.
Мета в геншине не так и меняется. Я очень долго закрывала всю бездну двумя пачками - националка с Райден и фриз Аяка. Обе женщины с их первых баннеров (вроде бы там Аяка была первая, потом Еимия и потом уже Райден).
С выходом дендро появилась ещё одна супер дешевая мета команда - бутоны с Куки. Дендро гг, Яояо, Синцю и Куки. Леги даже не нужны.
Имхо, единственные лег персонажи, которые нужны на аккаунте - это Казуха и Елань.
Нахида, Чжунли, Райден, Фурина и т.д. Это тоже очень сильные саппорт/сабдд леги, но в принципе можно и без них.
Елань нужна в качестве Синцю во второй отряд, однако также она создаёт безумную синергию вместе с ним. Дабл гидро это супер сильный пик практически в любую бездну ("контрит" только Тульпа, впрочем они, все ещё выполняют свои саппорт функции).
Казуха во-первых как стяжка, что нередко решает, во-вторых как достаточно универсальный бафф и источник статуса для 4 элементов.
I just started playing Genshin almost a month ago, and the only characters that I actually enjoyed playing are Raiden (in trial) and the Anemo Traveler. By the time I somewhat understood the game, Raiden's banner expired, and now I can't explain how jealous I am whenever I see someone playing Raiden

Was super lucky:
Kuki, kirara, Heizou, sucrose, beidou, Fischl, Rosaria, chongyun.
The widsith r3, 2x fav sword, sac sword and catalyst
Ayato and Ayaka 😊.
Now I don't know wich 5* next.

Weapon banner isn't a trap, it's a good way to increase your power without overspending too much. You've just gotta do it smart and actually need both weapons.

Ironically I've actually got quite a few 5* weapons from it. However if you don't know what you are doing, you can end up getting multiple copies of something you don't want, succumbing to the sunk cost fallacy and spending more than you planned. While the whole gatcha system is designed to help you fall into this trap, the weapon banner can be particularly brutal for it IMO.
Except Baizhu's and Kkm's if you don't have either of them, or you have Baizhu but have Kkm's sig, or the other way around as those two sigs are only good for the chr that the sig belongs to and not the other one.

Let's not forget that there is always a possibility of not getting any of those two weapons that are on the banner but random standard weapon.
@@MisTTwisted The possibility is very slim (only 25% chance), and the odds are in your favor most of the time either way. And even if you lose that 75/25, at least you know you'll have guaranteed for the next weapon banner you want

Apologies for my bluntness but you're (willingly?) spreading misinformation about archons.
All archons rerun at the beginning of a given patch.
Venti ran in 4.1, 3.1, 2.6 and his original 1.0
Zhongli ran in 4.0, 3.0, 2.4, 1.5 and his original 1.1
Nahida ran in 4.4, 3.6 and her original 3.2
If it's an archon you're targeting, no matter how many characters Genshin does get, you can be ASSURED they'll run at least once per patch.

Main account has more than forty character lvl 80-90. Almost 70 characters total. My main account also has almost all 5 stars and every 4 star, most of them c6. My free to play account is weeks old.
7 min so far. Saying you have a 16% of pulling a desiree featured 4* each multi is kind of misleading when it average at 42 pulls. Saying you should never purchase wishes with starglitter is straight up bullshit, there are a lot of situations, like playing since the start or almost the start almost guarantee you to have all the characters of the starglitter shop and most of them C6, trying to reach pity for the character you wanna obtain... Getting wishes is generally the best option with starglitter
I dont think he said "never purchase". I'm literally rewatching the vid, he said "don't be tempted to waste it on a few more wishes". If you already got the supports you need on the shop, there's also the weapons, most especially blackcliff series. It all depends on what your account needs, which we all can agree on.

Early game wishes are just a question of opening a few more chests, doing a few more quests. Getting your first copy of Xingqiu, or a great constellation for Xingling (C4), that's not so easy to engineer.
Late game f2p, sure wishes are probably the most sensible idea. Depends what your account needs.
