  • Hi everyone,
    My name is Tracy and I garden (indoor and outdoor) in Zone 4/5 in Toronto, Canada.
    I hope you are doing well & keeping safe.
    In this video, I will be sharing how I care for & propagate my Asplenium Nidus Ferns - Bird's Nest & Crispy Wave Ferns. Of all the ferns I have had the chance to plant indoors, these two have been relatively the easiest to care for. In addition to their easy care, they are also one of the best as air purifiers. That is definitely a bonus reason for me to propagate more of them to have around the house.
    Now that you know how "easy" it is to propagate/divide the Asplenium Nidus Ferns, perhaps it will inspire you to start propagating new plants to enjoy in your own homes (if you don't have enough already).😁
    Thank you so kindly for taking some of your precious time to watch my video. 🙏 Take care & stay safe!
    Happy (in-door) gardening & see you next time!

    Thank you so much Tracy, I really really enjoyed watching you divide and pot up those ferns. I’ve just purchased a Birds Nest Fern, for only 75p!!!!!!! And I brought a Dracaena to for the same price. So that’s giving them away almost. I found your video very very informative and interesting too. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤

    Do you have a video on dividing the peporomias? I just got one in the mail yesterday and some leaves are torn. I was thinking maybe I should try to grow it from the leaves.

    • @TracysHomeGarden
      @TracysHomeGarden  Před 3 lety

      I don’t think I have a video for peperomia yet! It should be out soon! Just make a fresh cut across the leaf with clean scissors, plant the leaf half way into the soil. Water the soil in really well. Keep the pots near a bright window and water every week. In 3-4 weeks the leaves will for roots. Happy propagating peperomia.

    I need some help. My father has this plant and my boyfriend loved it and was fascinated because he love plants and he doesn't have this one yet. So i wanted to take a seeding of it to give him as a gift. But i don't know how to make it without killing the mother plant.
    I don't know if you got what i mean but i don't know much about plant neither about the english terms of the subject

    • @TracysHomeGarden
      @TracysHomeGarden  Před 3 lety

      Hi there,
      If you don’t see sores then you can not grow it from seeds. The other way to get more plants is by dividing it into two pieces. It the “mother” plant a big one? You can just simply cut it straight through the middle - make sure it has half of the base where the roots come out. If not I would wait until it is big enough to divide. Hope that helps. 🙏💚🪴

  • @Angie-ci1lp
    @Angie-ci1lp Před 3 lety +1

    I think the tiny one could’ve stayed with mama fern a little longer. You’re brave! I love smaller plant for the same reason as you. When I go shopping I’m going to double check.

    • @TracysHomeGarden
      @TracysHomeGarden  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you Dee!
      It is probably infected with fungus or pests.
      Try spraying it with a 3% diluted solution of hydrogen peroxide - will help if it’s a fungus issue. If it is pests - you can check around to see if you can identify any. If not, give the foliage a good soak to wash them away…and repeat this every 2-3 days to ensure you get rid of any new pests that may continue to come up from the soil. All the best.

    • @TracysHomeGarden
      @TracysHomeGarden  Před 3 lety

      If they are just “spots” on healthy green fronds then those may be “spores”....sort of like “seeds”. You can let the spores mature, then scrape the spores off and propagate them into new ferns. That is how these ferns reproduce. In nature, the spores will mature and drop to self-propagate. Looks like you will be getting many more ferns soon. 💚🪴
