I have Graves disease and I’ve worked as a clinician for 20 years. 5 years diagnosed and even while seeing other people have this auto immune disorder, I never knew it could be this bad at times until I was diagnosed. People down play the severity of things they don’t understand until they walk in those shoes. I’m guilty of that myself and my heart goes out to her even when she’s not the best version of herself. It’s a struggle on all levels. Your thyroid controls so many other things in your body that you would not understand until you have to deal with it one on one.
She has Thyroid Eye Disease as a result of Graves Disease, which is an autoimmune disorder. Her over-active thyroid has sped up her metabolism to the point that her attemp to use alcohol to self-medicate is ineffective as her system burns it off before she can sense any effect of it, requiring her to drink more and more. It's a vicious cycle. Hopefully, in the not to distant future, she'll recognize this for the huge blessing of a wake-up call it is. I wish you well, Wendy. People do love you.

Why cant her sister have guardianship? Have the court appoint an advocate to overseer the family give Wendy back her money.
I personally wouldn’t want that. That’s a burden and it inhibits your ability to simply be her sister.

Wendy never took a show off for ten years, she was working nonstop. Then she lost her mom and her husband in a publicly humiliating way and got Graves’ disease. She needs time to heal. Then she will come back. Wendy always was a straight talker about people who wanted their names in our mouths

Praying for you Wendy. Myself and my daughter actually rewatched your lifetime movie and we were saying how you had it rough. Just wanting to be loved and appreciated and treated with respect. I now understand you did what you had to do to create a foundation for you and you created a different kind of lane entertainment on radio. Alot of us weren't used to it and thought what you were doing was mean. You opened the doors for alot of what we see going on today such podcast, gossip blogs , etc all the Tasha K's , and Empressive Channel, Pet Tea, and so and other social gossip channels followed in your steps. Don't get me wrong sometimes you were out of pocket you but you did nothing different from what the National Enquire was doing and abunch of other tabloid magazines and you brought it to radio and television. I pray that whatever you're dealing with that " God" will heal you from it and if you can just realize you come to far to let go. Hang in there and get back to doing what you love to do we miss you and wish you well. But make sure you take care of you first and don't be so hard on yourself.

I know that Wendy has been suffering for a long time. Speaking from my own experience as someone who has been through many health challenges, the ONLY help for my body and mind, has come from Jesus. Daily I thank Him for my many healings. When I get unclear about my life in any way, I ask for CLARITY from Him. The truth about life's issues sets us free to act towards getting wholeness. He is the ULTIMATE HEALER. What have we got to lose by leaning into His ways??!! If one does not like Him, the devil will always take us back. Wendy, we care about you and want you to be well. USA😊

Her son is an educated grown man, but you get the impression he has little authority or control to help her.
My father-in-law started drinking when he was 13 he got dementia when he was about 68 he just passed away a year ago of temporal dementia, and it was alcohol induced . RIP
