“Phagos” and “trogos”; the two Greek words Jesus used in that passage. One more intense and literal than the other as Jesus doubles down on truth beyond human understanding. The Holy Eucharist is the greatest Gift our God has given us.

@cl8505 A thousand years is like a day to the Lord God Almighty. Remember that to God all things past present and future are in front of Him. He is Omnipresent. Therefore, 2000 years or 10000 years or this very minute are all present and now to Him. That's something we humans struggle to understand because of our physical limitations. That's why those with some spiritual gifts can get to know some future events, past or something happening in the present because for that brief moment, they are linked to spiritual channels and are able to see or perceive somethings that aren't in that moment.
It's the same Jesus 2000 years ago that is now and will be in the end of time.
It's the same sacrifice on the cross that we link to during the liturgy of the Eucharist.
So whenever a priest says those same words, the same thing happens ***time is of no consequence in these moments****.

@@SonicSnakeRecords I have not made any final decisions. But again, in John 6:51 he says "whoever eats THIS bread". Why do you believe that "THIS bread" means ANY eucharist bread being consecrated by a priest in any mass service? Why is it not JUST the bread that Jesus was literally holding in his hands that exact moment he said that quote? I truly want to understand. Please do not confuse my desire to understand WHY the eucharist is consecrated regularly for wanting to understand HOW the eucharist is transformed into Jesus' body and blood. I simply want to know WHY it is done at all when it appears Jesus was talking about "THIS" bread that he was literally holding in his hands in the upper room. @BigLazyMexican Před 2 lety +28

Wrong I'll explain Bibically. John 15:4-7 God speaks of being the vine and we are the branch an obvious Metaphor. John 6:52-59 God states as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever. It's a metaphor to listen and believe in Jesus Christ our God and you shall have ever lasting life. The woman at the well was told of the living water that Jesus could provide. John 4:14 But whoever drinks from the water that I will give him will never get thirsty again. In fact, the water I will give him will become a well of water springing up in him for eternal life. Just as in John 6:56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. John 15:4 Remain in me, and I in you. Just as a branch is unable to produce fruit by itself unless it remains on the vine, neither can you unless you remain in me.
So to recap remain in Jesus Christ our Lord and King and he will remain in you. Listen and learn from his word by partaking of his living water, his flesh, his blood which are all metaphors for digesting God's Word. Who's the Word? John 1:1 is the answer. Incase you're still wondering why then not just tell the jews this given its strictly forbidden to drink blood or eat flesh with blood still in it? Because Jesus was on his way to Calvary. The Jewish people already wanted to make him their King to over throw the Roman strong hold oppressing them. With these statements though they were blind and deaf to God's words. That's why he used so many metaphors everytime he spoke. God had a mission and it wasn't to come down and being ruler over man by his almighty authority as our creator. God the Father sent his only begotten Son to be payment for our sins that we be seen as righteous infront of our Father God. Through his sacrifice we were made whole and only through Jesus will we every obtain everlasting life and be with the Father. This priest is wrong and the reasoning is as blind as the Jews that proceed them. If you'd like further break down beyond what I've provided by all means read it yourselves. Take notes and use a cross-reference Bible. Good study Bibles are NIV, CSB, ESV, NASB. If your like me have a dictionary near by. Bibles listed in order of difficulty NASB being as close to Interlinear Bible which is WORD FOR WORD.

You’re very misinformed. Each time Jesus repeated himself, the original word for “eat” in Aramaic became more and more graphic, with the final time saying a word that meant “to gnaw on like an animal.“ That’s as literal as you can get. They were getting ready to stone him to death for insisting that he meant what he said. You need an RCIA course to set you straight.

Hebrews 10 refutes everything you've stated.
[Having established His metaphor (and the fact that He is speaking of faith in Him), Jesus presses the symbolism even further: “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live forever; and this bread, which I will offer so the world may live, is my flesh. . . . I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you cannot have eternal life within you. But anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life. . . . My flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. . . . Anyone who feeds on me will live because of me” (John 6:51-56, NLT).To prevent being misconstrued, Jesus specifies that He has been speaking metaphorically: “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you-they are full of the Spirit and life” (John 6:63). Those who misunderstood Jesus and were offended by His talk about eating His flesh and drinking His blood were stuck in a physical mindset, ignoring the things of the Spirit. They were concerned with getting another physical meal, so Jesus uses the realm of the physical to teach a vital spiritual truth. Those who couldn’t make the jump from the physical to the spiritual turned their backs on Jesus and walked away (verse 66).]

The bread which we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ?” (1 Cor. 10:16). But I still think that there is a spiritual reality alongside a material reality, which is why the wine still tastes and behaves like wine as far as we can physically examine.

There is a reason for that. Jesus and His church have always had yo fight the good spiritual fight of corruption, persecution, and haters. Yet they are left alone? Catholics, (no such thing as 'Roman' Catholics) have never been confused.
We know what true faith is.
If God could create this beautiful universe out of nothing, then why can't He change bread and wine into His own body and blood?

Keep reading... Jesus said his words are spirit...."The Spirit is the one who gives life. The flesh doesn’t help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life."
    John 6:63

    • @flowpowcasey
      @flowpowcasey Před rokem

You didn't read the last sentence. It says The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life. So his words are spirit and life. So him saying it's his flesh is his flesh and his flesh gives life means this is True. What comes from God's voice is spirit and life and is Truth. It's like saying God didn't heal the centurion daughter because his words don't have spirit and life. But in fact Jesus just said the word and she was healed. That word that came from his lips is spirit and life. It's Truth.

      Christ be with you
read the bible before you make silly comments.
      it was disciples who left.
From this time many of his *disciples* turned back and no longer followed him.
“You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve.
Simon Peter answered him, *“Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.”*
His apostles didn't think it was a symbol they just believed know He is Truth,
      Come to Christ and live

Revelation 3:16 is the hint of the Eucharist been taken by early Christians after Peter's martyrdom and Peter's generation. Many church leaders are historically known to have procedures of taking Eucharist. In fact, they were opinions, among early church fathers, of accepting it in open hand(s) or open mouth by kneeling. Even Paul himself gave a hint of the previous with kneeling (Ephesians 3:14).

From my understanding, when Jesus broke the bread and passed the wine around at the last supper he had transformed it with his spirit through God’s will. So it became what he said it was. Flesh of him and blood of him. It means that it is not just symbolic. Jesus did not tell anyone that it was symbolic. He said that it is his body and blood, it must be through his transforming of their elements that results in them being his body and blood for us to take in reverence. Otherwise he would have literally said that they were only symbolic and not really him.

The Transubstantiation occurs only in a Catholic Mass when the Priest blesses the bread and wine transforming into the Body and Blood Of Jesus Christ. 1 Cor 11:23-29, Jn 6:52,54-59.

Communion is not simply a remembrance of Christ. It’s not a tribute. The host is him. The wine is him. This is where Catholicism differs from Christianity-the sacraments.

At the well, Jesus told the Samaritan woman that he offered living water. He said that if she drank this water, she would never thirst again & she was confused whether literal or symbolic. So i think the eucharist is symbolic like the living water. Love Father Mike❤( just disagree on this point.)
