Great video and informative. Looks like my hubby is now wanting this rack 👍 I must say your videos are the best with lots of good information and very informative 👍👍
I've done a similar install with a Lucas Creek tub rack. I used t-bolts in the rail though - your install look cleaner with the bolt head on top. I used stainless M8 t-bolts but had to cut them down a bit to be able to slide them into the rail (2024 Wildtrak).
Just another point I have found on the J brace topic. The original does have a very small cut to slide the internal plate to mount the brace, but it is a tiny cut and a bit of paint. The other point is the original is $188, and the other no cut type all different brands are $249. these are the prices I found as of 22nd April 04
I appreciate the detail you go into in your videos, you've addressed a few issues I was concerned about while looking into doing this to my 2022 hilux. Cheers
It would be awesome to see if this fits a platinum and still allowing the sail slide. It should as the sail slides down rails that replace the wildtracks "tie down" rails. Anyway another awesome video!
I agree it would be a great setup if the sail plane of the Platinum/ Wildtrak X could slide over. I can get some measurements for you when we get back from Brisbane at the end of next week. It would be very close to working 👍
Just so it's clear in my mind, you have bolted the rack to the roller shutter using M6 Bolts into a channel nut in the slot on the roller shutter ? And it bolts down securely enough ? The Aluminium profile in the roller shutter track is strong enough to hold the rack and a RTT up on top ? EOFY sales on at Kings with Tub racks @ $199 right now.
Good question - what is the load capacity if installed onto the aluminium roller shutter bracket? I’m looking to install a rooftop tent so would need a load capacity of 300kg & upwards. Thoughts?
@@felixalluisious Ford says 25kg. MountainTop says 75kg. MountainTop says 150kg if you install tub bracing. These are dynamic loads... in general, I believe static loads are usually about double that. In practice, I have loaded up my DIY cargo basket (about 25kg) with a night's timber for a big a$$ campfire (maybe another 50+ kg) with NO tub brace and had no issues. I just installed bracing to be able to put on a tub rack, so will see how that changes stuff..if at all.
not Ford Ranger relate but can you mount the roller shutter tub rack and then the King Tub Rack on top of it? Because I see the roller shutter tubrack is mount on the slide while the King Tub Rack mount on the frame of the tub. Is it possible? Can you make a video of it?
Hi, I have a 2018 Ford Ranger Wildtrak with a manual roller shutter. I have just purchased a Grand Tourer MKIII along with a Universal Kings Tub Rack. The RTT weighs 95kg. Would the Triple M brace kit be enough to support the extra weight or would I need the ERG J brace kit aswell? I have been told it's all too heavy and it won't suit my vehicle. 4X4 supercentre won't do a refund so I need a way to make it all work. Could you please help. My concern is that the outside edge is only aluminium and it won't be strong enough to hold the extra weight and the tub rack will crack under the weight once all fitted. Could you please help!?!
Hi thanks for a very informative and well instructed video. Any chance on your comments of the Exoflow river battery bank, is it worth it, it looks ideal. Well done and look forward to more of your work.
Hi Ron, no problem at all. I try to cover as much as I can. The River Pro has been great, these days I would go the newer River Pro 2 as it has a better LiFePO4 battery and a few enhancements. It's compact enough to carry around yet has enough capacity to be useful. The inverter is handy as well 😉
Great vids mate. thanks for sharing. how long are the top crossovers? can they be cut to get the roll? i have a px wildtrak and need to have my tent just above the roof so it doesnt hang over the back of the tailgate.
Hi thanks for your tutorial on set the rack up. Question for you, can you help finding where to buy the channel nuts you recommended I have tried every where and no luck. The only ones I found were the Rola ones but they don’t fit into the end of the channel😫 thanks again.
Also having this issue! Any luck with a suitable replacement? Kings were no use they just told me the rack wouldn't be able to mount over the sailplane let alone into the narrow channel 😂
Hi mate, I'm checking out triple M's website for roller shutter reinforcement. It's now different with what you showed in the video . Took our all the space of tie down points and with a ugly vertical stick. Can you tell me what's your model of that roller shutter support? Thank you. And alao i couldn't find the original loading rate for a next gen wildtrak roller shutter. Can you let me know as well. Many thanks!
How did you fit the J Brace? I used your link and ordered them but now find the utility hook on my vehicle is oriented horizontally and not vertically. I have the same Wildtrak.
Hi Ben, the nuts are from the Mountain Top Evo cross bars I usually run on the Wildtrak. They are currently on back order however here is the link: mountaintop.com.au/products/t-nut-kit I've also included a link to some T-Bolts in the description. You just need to ensure they fit within the track. We are currently up in Brisbane but I will try to pull one out and measure the width to help out 👍
It should be easy on a standard tub. You will likely need to modify the cover to fit around the legs however. Mind you there is no drilling etc on a roller shutter which you need to do with a steel tub.
Second this question, how did you get the wiring where you needed to go? I have a wildtrak coming in the next couple of weeks and was wondering if you found any discreet wiring paths??
The Kings rack is currently down to $200 with the upcoming Boxing Day sales. That's a bargain!!

Just bought this today for my Triton, will fit it up next week, great video ;)
No problem at all. There are a lot of bolts but I was pretty happy with it in the end, for the money, they are very hard to go past 👍
Thorough handy video mate, thank you

Would be good to know how to install on a soft tonneau cover

Hello! One question. How do you access the rails? How do you slide in the T-Bolts or the Nuts inside the rails??
Hi mate
Love your videos. I’m about to get a Wildtrak, do you think this rack could fit a boat loader or at least carry a 3.5m tinnie?
Hi, whete are the links to purchase the plate from Ebay??

How do you run power for the lights through the roll top? 🤔

How did you go fitting them in the end?
@@willmason8381 I returned them and bought OEM.
Hey mate are the j braces only for the newer model rangers?
What are the channel botls that you used to attach the rack to the shutter

How much was the Triple M Tub bracket?
Hi, how does it fit to the tub? You don’t seem to show this.. Isuzu tell me I have to remove the whole cover… I have an X Terrain Dmax..
Don’t need too - I’m fitting atm which is causing a few headaches but def fits
what brand is your roller shutter?
Struggling to install this on a soft tourneau cover 😅

How did you go with wiring up the lights?
