Thank you Jackie for answering my two questions today. Relieved to know that my own personal health conditions won't affect my Pensionado visa. Panama is looking more and more like my future home 🙂

?? I’m 65 and Currently receiving my SS widowed pension but it’s $40 short off the $1000 for the retirement visa. I’ll be retiring 2026. You mentioned other option, buying property, which I can’t afford. I don’t know if my pension will increase to the qualifying amount but then. What can I do?

Hi Jackie, if possible, could you kindly clarify something for me please. The man who unfortunately needed heart bypass surgery: I know the first hospital was a public hospital, but when he was then transferred to Panama City, was that second hospital public too, or private? I am trying to get a better idea of major surgery and care costs, public vs private, as I know you said his all up costs were around USD$40,000? As it is unlikely that I will be able to obtain health insurance in Panama, due to pre-existing conditions, it is tricky to figure out how much savings I would need to self-insure.

They were all public hospitals. That's why it's important to have health insurance in Panama. Even travel insurance will cover a medical emergency.

In the Online Guide, i have new information about insurance that covers medical emergencies even if preexisting condition AND you don't have to pay upfront. panamarelocationtours.com/guide
