18:06 That is definitely NOT black ice
THANK YOU I thought i was going insane when i thought the same
I found the comment I was looking for
Yeah the skins name is Diamond.
Yeah this is the Diamond skin, which costs 100k reknown iirc (haven't played in years)
Black ice is a blue -> black fade with similar triangles
Y'all cry too much.
When he calls diamond a black ice 😬
😂
Woulda been very amused to see him get shown a black Ice with a more cursed charm
That was very sad
its all carbon in the end
Homer Simpson Voice: The man has never played a game of Siege in his life
"Rail system mullet"
Thank you to Jonathan for this absolute _gem_ of an expression.
😂

Honoured that Mr. Ferguson had a look at a gun I was (very slightly) involved in designing (the .44 Vendetta)!
Conceptually, the gun is partially inspired by the Raging Bull, which was a gun we had in previous Rainbow Six games, though this is a different gun that has been heavily customised by Deimos.
As for the fanning, yep he's right, it's totally superfluous. Deimos is the kind of guy that sometimes does things purely for the cool factor. He's also bit of a Bass Reeves fanboy, so he integrates some Wild West anachronisms into his style.
Love these videos! Keep it up!
I feel like a Wild West gunslinger while playing Deimos, thank you for that!
Yooo tracheotomies you probably dont remember but we met playing a while ago and my friends tkd you because they saw your dev skin and thought you were cheating
Wow my favorite dev!
A thing to note is that despite it being a double action revolver the motion Deimos is using could in theory help smoothen and lighten the trigger pull because many double action pistols have a heavier trigger pull from the hammer down position.
@@znon_ Oh I definitely remember hahaha. I had a good laugh about it.
Hopefully your friend has figured out safer ways to threaten cheaters since then than what he was doing.
All games need an official Jonathan Ferguson "Unfit to Fire" charm
Let's get this around the world!
Please Jonathan Ferguson, the keeper of Firearms & Artillery at the Royal Armouries museum in the UK, break down the weapons from *METAL GEAR SOLID 3* before the remake comes out.
So many weapons in MGS3 to react and comment on like the Patriot's infinite ammo magazine, the EZ tranq gun, Snake's customized officer M1911A1, Snake whittling the pistol grip to use a knife for CQC, Ocelot's SAA juggling skills, The End's paratrooper tranquilizer Mosin Nagant, the Davey Crockett recoil-less nuclear launcher and Eva's chinese Type 17 mauser clone with her "bandit shooting" technique.
There are so many more other interesting trivias and weapons in MGS3 so please Dave and Johnathan, please consider making a video for the MGS3.
He'll love signants codec calls ahahaha
yes! cmon dave let's make this happen
I've lost count on how many times this has been in the comment section, but I'm sure if it's commented another 6 times the video will come out
Why wouldn't they make the video AFTER the remake comes out? I would much prefer if they did a video on the weapons of MGS4 or something, as that definitely won't be rereleased for a while.
Those are some good ideas for them to talk about. I would like to request you also ask about Volgin using his electricity to discharge the 76.2mm bullets from his fist. Would be interesting to hear Jonathan Ferguson's reaction lol
Johnathan saying the "flipflop" hanging off the side is the most offensive gun charm ever has clearly never taken a chancla to the back of the head from two rooms away
>a chancla to the back of the head from two rooms away
Seems pretty offense-capable to me
I'd never seen such skilled and effective child abuse until I went to my friend Arnie's (Arnulfo) house for a sleepover 😂
that sounds very offensive
I don't think the UK knows of the mythical Hispanic chancla accuracy or the pure destructive power
I just want to hear Mr Ferguson say “Chankla” with his accent.
I like that the Beretta SMG is marked 'unfit to fire'
Where is that? I don't see the name in the timestamps
I agree that Jonathan Ferguson, Keeper of firearms and artillery at the Royal Armouries museum in the UK ought to have a look at the weapons of the Valkyria chronicles series.
Edelweiss.
That's a really good pull, heck Jon probably knows a tank guy so grab him as well.
@@lionblaze99 wonder what his reaction will be when he saw a light machine gun wielded by a 15 year old girl, yup, there's a 15 year old girl in Squad 422, which is a penal unit featured in the 3rd game, basically like Spare squadron from Ace Combat 7, and her name is Amy Apple, which likely implies that she is the most innocent out of the bunch.
@@lionblaze99 I'd gladly volunteer 😄 But for real, there are way more knowledgeable people out there.
That skin was not Black Ice btw, it was the Diamond skin
its not the diamond skin. its the obsidian skin. the diamond skin looks like a diamond... not black..
@@jamesduke5848uhh no, definitely the diamond skin
@@shawneenation9326 before you replied did you look it up or go look in game? Quick google search “siege obsidian skin”. Ez
I love this episode, I feel like they're finally showing him some classic mainstays of the game. 416-C, Hibana's gun, Cav's SMG, etc.
IIRC The Gonne-6 was added in as a mid-season balancing measure and just pawned off to multiple characters, not introduced with a character and thus within their thematic design sphere. I'm imagining they just needed to quickly create something good looking and mechanically plausible, and didn't have time for a deep research project. To add to the "controlled rush job" evidence, The Gonne-6 doesn't have a reload animation, as it's a single use utility in game.
Actually it does have a reload animation. It’s just not used in game because of the fact that it is limited to one use only.
It has a reload animation in the firing range.
it used to have reload animation if you using gonne 6 in shooting range but for some reason they remove it, dont know why
I'd also like to add (more for Jonathon's sake, because I'm sure most of us who have played already know lol) that the Gonne-6 wasn't added to make little peek holes like the clips they showed. It's a utility clearing device. The deployable cover shields, Castle's door/window barricades, bulletproof cameras, essentially anything that can't be taken down by a normal bullet or melee hit, especially so if you need to get rid of it from range. I will say I think it's a bit silly that it's single-use, I think two would be perfect, but I'm also a casual player so take my opinions with a pinch of salt lol
Please Jonathan Ferguson, the keeper of Firearms & Artillery at the Royal Armouries museum in the UK, break down the weapons from the Killing Floor 2 befor KF3. That games guns and gunplay is something else.
Actually, I think he did
I think it was 2, although it could have been 1
Idk 🙂
They did give it a look, but they hardly touched the reloads at all, and there's still so many other weapons to look at. An odd, niche game, but definitely well built with a lot of great detail in the firearms.
@@Insan1tyW0lf Yeah they sadly mostly looked at the silly over the top unrealistic guns, rather than the actually cool ones.
They should make a Royal Armories Museum Tag charm in every game from now on :)
While I've never once, in 20+ years of gaming, paid for a cosmetic item, I would pay for this if it was supporting the museum. Money going to support something like the Royal Armories Museum would have my digital wallet open. I just don't understand paying money to have my player wearing a sweatsuite or similar.
It really is cool hearing about those tiny details in guns that bear history behind them.
Like these niche little features are immortalised in the digital world along with the weapon itself and seeing possibly more use than the real life counterpart.
I wish that you would show cursed guns as the initial reactions but then show the default for the remainder so he can actually go over how well the game did.
Wish you wouldn't have skins on the guns, seems to distract him more than anything from actually talking about the guns.
i wouldnt go as far to say that, but it is quite annoying. i think it mightve just been the person recording the in game footage didnt think to take them off before recording. i think some of the skins changed the entire model of the gun as well, like the not-AK.
I'm back to once again ask for a video on F.E.A.R.
Hey yea, what the heck is that nailgun eh? 😅
Complete with the gun that turns people into skeletons!
I love when we get episodes that have reality baked in to them, not that Helldiver and Destiny weren’t both extremely enjoyable, but it’s always more fun to see Johnathon pull out the real world weapons to compare them with.
Edit: also the Gonne-6 looks kind of like an under barrel grenade launcher if you made it into a standard pistol style weapon.
Jonathan Ferguson, keeper of Firearms and Artillery in the Royal Armouries in the Uk, i'd love to see your reaction to Generation Zero, the guns are well made and look great, the there are some features i'd love to hear your insight in!
This
The Beretta M12 is one of those SMGs that needs more appearances in games.
Yes love it too.
I mean or we could have the PMX which makes more sense. Personally want to see more Spectre’s and MPL’s in game.
yeah, and hes kinda wrong cause brazil still using em
@@afd19850 Is not about sense
Is about being an cool gun with an cool cold war design
@@plaguedoctorjamespainshe6009 Which both the MPL and Spectre are?!?
Gonna be the guy who asks for Perfect Dark in every video until it happens. I think it’s a great choice, so many unique weapons.
I would second that. It’s a good game.
I don't know if he's had it before, and I've only just noticed, or if it's new... But I appreciate the light he has now, for showing off details. Makes it so we can actually see the details!
First Mistake I’ve ever noticed: 416 is piston operated, there is no tube venting gas to the boltcarrier. It’s more an AR18 than an AR15 type of action, comparable to a G36
I thought i lost the plot when i heard that yeah. But to be fair with the amount of guns he's talking about it's only a matter of time until something slips through. Or maybe there was more to what he said to clarify later but didn't get cut into the video, which happens at times with these videos.
Finally!!! I was waiting for it for so long, please make more of siege I beg of you !
Casually insults Black Ice by confusing it with that god awful “Diamond” skin. Hurt me
I kind of want to see this series cover the guns of the new "Delta Force: Hawk Ops". They seem stripped right out of COD but I'd like to see Jonathan's response to what they've done to that franchise, especially considering his fond memories of the early Novalogic titles. I sense emotional damage.
Fantastic video once again guys!
1:26 the fundamental point why love is lost on this game. The reaction between OG ops weapons and new weapons illustrates this well
Always enjoy when he goes over the siege weapons
I have waited for so long for this!
18:12 yeah that's not a black ice
Someone surely, at some point, will make a Jonathan weapon charm
i will never understand the love people have for gun skins and paint schemes
Something different to look at on screen? I hope?
@@bradprater4789 the ones that at least sort of look cool I can get. but the super bright and colorful meme ones just kinda take me right out of the game. i suppose it just depends on how seriously someone takes their games, for some its "haha funny gun", for others it kinda ruins their experience.
Same reason you get custom paint schemes and decals added to your car - you just plainly think it looks cool.
To someone who isn't into actual guns, the gaudy skins aren't particularly more egregious or unrealistic than any of the others.
I'm sure most players see guns skins like vehicle skins, where pretty much anything goes, and a "fun" skin is better than a realistic skin by default.
Imo its because the stock skins are bland
That revolver at the beginning actually has a basis in the S&W N-frame IMO. The K-frames are medium sized and mostly thirty eights or light duty 357s. The more traditional large frame .44 is the N-frame. The L-frame splits the difference between the two. Great catch on the Colt-esque trigger guard scallop!
Love the videos and seeing Johnathan's take on things, as always. Keep up the great work!
I am so glad that the Howa Type 89 is shown. It doesn't get enough attention
Meh everytime I see it it just proves to me the JSDF really are glorified cops.
I really like the look of the Ameli, something about a shrunk down not quite MG42 in olive drab & 5.56 that is just a 'vibe', as they say
20:23 Never once noticed that Caveira reloads by pressing the bottom mag release. Really cool feature!
Whenever Jonathan sees a cursed gun, he immediately becomes the meme "brotha huh..., what's that..?"😅
Would love to see him react to some the weirder things like the gonne-6 used in actual gameplay. People use it like a flashbang without the flash sometimes too.
Jonathan should look at the guns of SAO Fatal Bullet and COD Advanced Warfare
While COD AW wasn’t too great, the weapon selection would an interesting thing for him to look at
Definitely want to hear Jonathan's opinion on the guns & firearm mechanics of State of Decay 2
Any chance you made or plan to make a video on the guns in shatterline? Pretty please
i think its really cool that despite being legally distinct the m762 zofia uses is based off a polish AK variant since shes part of polish special forces
Gonne-6 is used as a breaching tool (e.g breaking bulletproof cams and castle barricades), not for poking holes. This is why he needs to be shown in-game footage and not just a preview.
There is only a handful of clips of this, but with the Gonne-6 the front would fold down and you load one single round into it from the back and then obviously flip it back up again to use it.
Always enjoy watching Jonathan Ferguson.
Take a look at MODDED Stalker.
Anomaly or some such.
Interesting stuff there!
I'm at a pub and I opened the CZcams app to come here and request Criterion Games' Black be reviewed by Jonathan Ferguson, Keeper of Firearms and Artillery at the Royal Armouries Museum in the UK, which houses a collection of Thousands of Iconic Weapons from Throughout History.
Black ice 💀
This is really fun to see when you actually play the game
as someone who gone to a brazilian air force event and weld a beretta, it still using the low magazine releasing buttom
Please have Jonathan cover the guns of Squad 44, formerly Post Scriptum.
So the "not actually black ice", aka diamond skin likely uses what's called a normal map which basically makes light hitting a flat surface behave as though it were 3-dimensional. So it reflects light differently in order to give you the illusion of more detail, as though the surface of the model was oriented in different directions than it actually is.
Mainly used for small details like bumps and engravings, because you won't really be able to notice the difference. That's why the shapes seem like they are protruding out of the model, even though they really aren't.
Always a good video. I'm still here in the comments hoping one day you'll look at the guns of the Killzone series, there's so much that would spark interest and thoughts for Johnathan Furguson, the keeper of firearms and artillery and the Royal Armouries museum in the UK, which houses a collection of thousands of iconic weapons from throughout history.
I would love to hear Johnathan's thoughts on Easy Red 2.
Beryl mentioned, Poland assembles.
🇵🇱
9:22 if you actually look at the barrel iron sight placement is modelled but its removed realistically cuz it had new sight placed on the rail and original one would be longer than the barrel would make it weird
I would really like you guys to go back to Ghost Recon Advance Warfighter and to specifically cover the MRI Caseless Rifle and the M8 collection of rights specifically. I've been asking you guys to do this for over a year now.
And Future Soldier's beautiful gunsmith
17:05 Why did that make me think of that breech loaded .50 cal one shot pistol from Shot back in like 2003 (I think). The Something-a-rather Thunder.
Fanning the hammer is way faster even on a double action. Priming the hammer is also a method to get more immediate trigger pull.
Please, Johnothan Ferguson, the keeper of gun at royal museum, review the weapons of the Bonelab mod called Rexmec Weapon Pack, the amount of detail added to those guns are insane.
I’ve never noticed this before but jager holds the gun by the magazine well instead of the barrel shroud. Isn’t that less stable?
Fun fact: my internet dropped as soon as Jonathan started commenting on the M762. That gun is so cursed my internet "noped" out.
Still advocating for Far Cry 5 and New Dawn but the "rail system mullet" should keep me satiated for a bit
Hunt showdown has some more added oddities of firearms. Would be cool to see Jonathan to take a look. Especially Uppermat and Martini Henry ironside
Warframe has guns and artillery to review, would love an episode on that game
Has he covered the C7E in any of the previous episodes? I looked through and couldn't find any myself
6:55 Hey, at least it has a separate fire mode selector, like the Beryl, leaving the AK dog leg just as a safety.
Man, we really have the dry wit, extensive knowledge, and comprehension of game design to really make these videos work.
Fun fact, Zofia’s AK is a completely buildable rifle. It’s a Midwest Industries handguard with the RMR upper handguard, a Hera Arms stock, and a TWS dog rail. I know, because I built it lol
Yeah - Jonathan would have probably picked up on it if it wasn't for the weapon skin (Since I don't think any of these ultramodern parts come in damascene and weathered wood :P ).
Are those bits actually compatible out-of-the-box with a Beryl? (Or did you just use a different AK-pattern as a stand-in? I'm guessing not many people would actually have a genuine Polish export)
@@BackwardsPancake well the polish rifles (at least the Beryls) are very well made and decently popular when it comes to imported AKs. either way, ir was probably a stand in, as the actual Beryl uses a different receiver and rear trunnion design than standard AKs.
Receiver 2! It's long overdue!
Could Johnathan please cover the guns from the Resistance and Killzone games?
Thanks and keep up the great work all. 👍🏻
I would like to see Jonathan Ferguson, the keeper of Firearms & Artillery at the Royal Armouries museum in the UK, reacting to the weapons of Warframe
If games have to have charms to put on guns, I think one that's literally a museum inventory tag would actually be pretty neat.
I think that having Jonathan and Dave interacting has elevated these videos, maybe not much, but enough to make them more enjoyable.
Is Jonathan present in tours or lectures at the Royal Armouries often? Would love to meet him when I'm visiting the Armouries in Leeds soon.
11:20 That front sight is *GIGANTIC*
11:35 The metallic gold-colored spray paints they sell now look pretty good and can adhere well to polymer (though they don't tend to like heat much). Which is just SO perfect, to make your gun look "Gucci" with spray paint! But anyway, that's just one possibility.
I think Jonathan likes the original CETME Ameli furniture because it looks like it would be at home in the _Alien_ films.
Cool vid! The damascus steel on the Beryl is also an optional cosmetic item
do you know at all which skin it is?
@@bruh-ur8sr I think it's literally called 'Damascus Steel' it was a season pass skin from yr2 I think
Could you do another squad part? A bunch of new weapons are now in the game
2 multipurpose 13/16 tubes for an under barrel attachment. Big shells and grenades.
Still hope to see a video on the various animations for reloading in Killing Floor 2, expecially the slow mo view of it.
if i remember correctly the mr73 revolver is so good at what it does that many GIGN actually prefer it over a glock or whatever they use now
16:15 Hi Johnathan! For some reason I had to think of a Glock type pistol with an Osprey suppressor with the magazine well bent backwards (and removed), with oversized sights. Would that make sense?
no. lol. it looks nothing like a glock. the gonne 6 is an original design
One thing to note is the 44 vendetta is is a custom made revolver not a modified existing revolver
For the AA12 the reason it’s like that from what I’d assume is their decision to change it from 12 gauge to slug rounds due to the low pick rate for shotguns in game still yet I’m not sure on that one🤷♂️
18:37 BOPE stands for Batalhão de Operações Especiais (Special Operations Batallion). It is the elite unit of the Polícia Militar (military police), our police that is responsible for ostensive patrol/direct confrontantion.
See the movie Elite Squad. Also it is read like bó-pê
11:30 when the first line is "this is unfortunate" you know it's going to get interesting :)
17:24 tbh, not too sure why all the demonstrations of the gonne 6 were on soft walls. Jonathan, you're pretty much spot on with what its intended use is when actually playing the game. Primarily its used to open doors/windows which are barricaded by planks of wood
The lowercase X in "Mx4" makes my brain _insist_ on pronouncing it "em-by-four". :)
18:09 I immediately rush to comment for that 'black ice'😂
Considering they have assault rifles chambered in 9mm and sub machine guns with rifle calibers the whole game is pretty scuffed when it comes to the finer details
well the south korean military considers the K1A and SMG, so in that case it makes sense.
Yep, you can just change parts of the Six-12 to mount it under a rifle. Not a separate model.
Ive come here to ask yet again for Metal Gear Solid videos
We all want those
Mr Ferguson couldnt appreciate the great power of "LA CHANCLA"
If I was a game dev, I'd wanna make a shooter just to have the chance to work with Johnathan Ferguson, the keeper of Firearms & Artillery at the Royal Armouries museum in the UK with the in-game guns and make them as accurate as possible
18:06 That was not Black Ice skin, is the "Platinum" camo you can buy with 90K credits. Is one of the most common camos that everyone in the game can get XD
STALKER Anomaly/Gamma would be a good one because of how many guns with histories are usable. Gamma's main gun repository are either Warsaw Pact, NATO failures or cursed meme guns. Every gun is a classic and with the WW2 update its the only game around that has some maniac with an Arisaka rifle fighting a guy lugging a Pechenag with a buddy firing a Gen 1 prototype Vintorez on a hill. Plus it has some fun variants, the APS Stechkin is a full auto Makarov variant from the 50's for example and there's three generations of the L85 family all with their own crippling flaws as well. If it's unusual, broken, failed or historical its found its way into the Zone.
I wanna see a video on the 'krinkov' - bashed together compact AKs. It could look at the AKS-74u as basically the Soviet equivalent of the PDW and its strengths and challenges, hodge-podge jobs like the AKMSU in the Royal Armouries collection from the 90s to try to shorten the 7.62x39 rifles, and end up at the Zastava M92 as an example of it being manufactured successfully 😊
Mostly I just wanna see a thorough look at the AKMSU, but there's plenty of real life cursed AKs to talk about 😂
I would like to see Guns for Bulletstorm sometime in the future, that game has some of the most "peculiar" weapons outside of Borderlands series, additionally there is a DLC that allows to play as Duke Nukem himself
