you've singlehandedly convinced me to go get Project Hail Mary... it sounds SO good!!!
also, Book Lovers is also one of my top reads :') so glad i've found your channel!
I love Lucinda Berry. I have read 8 of her books but Saving Noah is my absolute favorite. I was hesitant going in because of the main subject manor but the way I sobbed reading this book was unreal. I think it really encapsulates grief not only from death but for the life you had in the past and the life you could've had if certain events hadn't happened. I think becoming a parent is terrifying for so many people and this book really put into perspective how conflicting unconditional love can be.
*My second favorite from her is The Perfect Child but literally, she can do no wrong in my eyes!
Saving Noah was so so good. that end twist, my mouth was on the floor. I even convinced my mom (who is not a "thriller" book person) to read this, and she loved it. The decision Noah's mom has to make, is one I am glad I would never have to make. I don't think I could have done that. But I'm also not a parent,
There is another book that is similar to this called "We Need To Talk About Kevin" by Lionel Shriver. I want to read it in 2024. There is also a movie adaptation now. I love your videos, you always make me smile, I am so excited to follow you (okay that sounds creepy haha whoops) into the new year!!
not creepy, thank you for being here! 😊
I definitely enjoyed, " Book Lovers
" It was refreshing to see a character exploring her relationships to her family, city and work life. I liked that Emily Henry didn't necessarily give us the full Hallmark, it. Give up everything to move to the small town, but asked the real questions about what balance would be best. I didn't quite feel the same with Happy Place. I felt that ending was a little too neat considering the challenges the characters were facing. ❤
This has quickly become my favorite booktube channel this year and I'm so excited everytime I see a video in my feed- absolutely agree about Saving Noah, I'm glad someone resonated with the book ad much as I did 🖤🖤
Absolutely love listening to you talk about books! We have super similar reading tastes so definitely bumping Saving Noah up on my TBR
Awesome review! I have so many of these on my TBR , you’re convinced me to move some up a few spots. Loved hearing your favs for 2023😊
Alright FINE I'll read Saving Noah! Been thinking about it for a while but I heard the mother thinks her son is suffering more from what he did than the victims and that REALLY put a bad taste in my mouth. I do already know the spoilers because I wasn't planning on reading it, but you've convinced me to give it a try!
I will say that I can understand why it's been described that way! I even got that feeling at the beginning of the book, but by the end I personally didn't feel that way anymore. The mother has to do a lot of learning and self-evaluation throughout the book and she definitely has her moments where she has to come to terms with how wrongly she's acted. I read it as Lucinda Berry trying to convey the struggle as a parent to not side with your child first/always and that urge to protect and defend them, and how hard it can be to go against those instincts, even when you know what the child did was wrong. Maybe not everybody feels that way, but by the end I felt like the mom had come to understand where she went wrong. If you do end up reading it I'd love to know how you feel after finishing!
@@aspensarchive That's super helpful! I think I can have more of an open minded reading experience now :) I'm 25% in and it's definitely a roller coaster of emotion.
Saving Noah is probably my favorite book ever. You explained it so well considering it’s a hard one to talk about. ❤
Project Hail Mary is my best book of 2023! adding your recs to my tbr :-)
loved hearing your favorites of the year!! i now have some new books on my 2024 tbr :)
Just finished "Saving Noah" -- thank you for recommending it! It did not disappoint. It was hard for me to finish because I didn't want it to end and was kind of scared of how it would end. Before reading it I did *not* listen to what you said in this video about it because I have a thing about really wanting to "go in utterly cold" to books. Just hearing that it was your #1 of the year was all the info I needed to choose to read it.
You really express well in this video, which I just listened to, why it is such a good book. Thank you for what you said! I'm curious what the other big issue is that Lucinda Berry tackles so well that spoke so well to you personally, but I don't want to be nosy, I'm just happy for you that she does this. You're right that she tackles really tough issues with great sensitivity, empathy and understanding. I see that she is a clinical psychologist so that helps explain how she does this. Thanks again for recommending this Aspen, it was very touching to me as well.
I fucking loved the hail Mary project. I read it out loud to my partner and all I'm gonna say is that I gave it my all lol. U gotta read Artemis by Andy weir too its so good and has a badass female lead.
I have really enjoyed watching your channel grow this year. U deserve it:)
Saving Noah was hard. I really appreciate the works of Lucinda Berry. Being a mom of two boys, the most difficult part was his relationship with his mom and the unconditional love she had for him. I couldn’t image ever turning my back on my kids for something they’ve done. Just a really tough situation.
Now I’m off to read, This is where we talk things out. I’ve had it on my kindle for a while and the time is now. I really enjoy your content. See you in 2024!🎉
I loved this is where we talk things out - I want to reread it every winter. Such an amazing novella!
I really, really enjoy the way you do all your reviews. They are awesome to listen to. Thanks. I often get great recommendations.
From this I’m 100% reading look closer, find me and saving Noah this year x
I enjoy listening to you talking about books 😊
100% match rec I got from u this year and loved it! It was so fucking funny I was laughing out loud how you’d just be reading along and he’d drop something so ridiculous in, loved the writing 😂
Ok, you convinced me to read This is Where We Talk Things Out.
Heard very good things about The Weight Of Blood!
Happy New Year! 🎉
Project Hail Mary is one of my favorites as well. It was surprisingly delightful! 😊
I've been wanting to read Saving Noah for quite some time. It'll definitely be at the top of my tbr for 2024.
Have you read The Bodyguard by Katherine Center? I'm not a romance reader, but I picked this up as a palate cleanser after some dark reads. It was lighthearted and fun with playful banter between characters. I recommend it!
I haven't read it yet but I do have it on my radar!
So many books to add to my TBR 🙈
I’m 50 pages in with “Saving Noah“ thanks to your recommendation! Enjoying it so far…
Oh ya..love that one!!
I read Saving Noah over the summer and not only is it my favorite book of the year, it’s one of my favorite books of all time!
Thank you for this list !!! I’m going to pick up “Look Closer!” This one sounds very good to me . I’m thinking my daughter (In her 30s) may like “Book Lovers!” I’m going to check these out …..
Potential video idea based on your experience with 100% Match... Reading books you've never heard of. Scroll through KU, find a cover or 2 that look intriguing, read it, and tell us if it's good.
Project Hail Mary is indeed being made into a movie with Ryan Gosling as Ryland!
Tell me why I’m tearing up at a book review
Wait so the one called find me???? 🤔 Its on audiobooks for preorder.....how did u already read it? It says release date is October 2024
it's an indie published series so i'm guessing they're just now making the audiobooks! the whole series is on KU and I ordered my physical copies from amazon!
