I had a friend that took his life back in 2019, unfortunately I couldn’t go to his funeral, I was out of town. I’ve been going to his cemetery to find his grave for over a year and haven’t been able to find him, even had specific written down directions to his grave but still couldn’t find him until last week when I was looking for him a women that worked at the cemetery informed me that the reason I couldn’t find him was because he didn’t have tombstones, he didn’t have the money like everyone else, he was left just buried and not to be found and it broke my heart, at least I found him.. I’m sorry for sharing but this song Marilyn Manson just hit me at just the right time coming out with don’t chase the dead.
Yo, give me a shout. Let's get up a tombstone for your friend. He was somebody's friend, he was somebody's son, he was somebody's brother, he was somebody's nephew, he was a person I wish I had knew. Let's not forget your friend.

@aln447 that is a beautiful idea and I almost started one but I found out there was a go fund me page created by someone else in 2019 dedicated to go towards his funeral costs, they raised over $26,000, I guess it wasn’t enough to pay for a tombstone.. I also learned that his burial plot was donated to him by a kind family so his funeral cost wouldn’t be so high from his unexpected death. I already asked the cemetery how much it would be just for a simple grave marker tombstone and it’s about $1000, I’ve saved up $147 dollars so far.. I didn’t want to be disrespectful to his siblings & the people that already donated but why didn’t they pay for a tombstone? Why is he in a unmarked grave? Why does my heart hurt so badly like he got cheated & I’m the only one realizing it because no one else has visited him.. I found him thankfully but it’s the empties feeling in the world looking for a friend for over a year staring at thousands of tombstones hoping to see his name and it never happened... I’m sorry for crying, I’m sorry for sharing, thank you for listening, thank you for asking questions thank you for caring about my beloved lost friend and offering to help me. He was special, he loved everyone and even took care of homeless dogs, he was a really good man & miss him so much ..

I love the electronic background. It's so dreamy, yet haunting. It's like one of those 80s songs you imagine laying on the grass next to your crush listening to.
The "If tonight lasts forever" part sounds like it would be in Breakfast Club or Pretty In Pink. It gives you those butterflies in your stomach, that euphoria of being young and finding love. But then, "It won't matter, 'cause there's no tomorrow..." kicks you out of that. You're reminded how cruel and fucked up this world is. This song has to be about growing up in a way. You suddenly get hit with reality, and then you see how futile love can be, or anything for that matter. This song is amazing.

I take it that way too, on the spiritual level you open yourself, when you miss someone to the point of trying to contact them recklessly...well sounds cooky and I never used to believe it but there are certainly spirits which may or may not be the "departed" heh you were looking for.

Technically he has already visited Bowie before many years ago on Mechanical Animals... My fav of his btw:)... However If you are referring to him transitioning from wild controversial youth to an artist with years of wisdom .. then I can totally see that. His work matures so gracefully.

It's so weird. Manson is one of the few musicians from my childhood, who I can genuinely enjoy even today. Most other bands form the good ol' days are now guilty pleasures at best. I have several "Best of ..." playlists on my Amazon Music account - Best of Marilyn Manson, Best of Rammstein, Best of Gorillaz and many more - but Best of Manson and Best of Gorillaz are probably three times as long as most other playlists and they're also the only ones I keep updating on a semi regular basis.
Whereas other bands from my childhod are like that one cartoon you used to love but tuns out to be pretty bad actually, Manson is like that one series that still holds up, even today.

@Mrmeerkatz Marilyn Manson is the only artist whom I can listen to a song of his for a second time and like it as opposed to the first time where I wasn't sure. I hear a song once from almost anybody else and I don't get the same interest for the second time, if I do I typically dislike it more. And I haven't even listened to every Marilyn Manson song yet, but so far I can't gather that he's had a bad song or album. He's just such a separation from everybody else and his ability to reinvent each era of himself is unmatched.

It'd be his definitive album I think. You can find elements from his every previous album in this album. For example, previous one contained much Mechanicals Animals vibe (or, Bowie vibe), this one has The High End Of Low references. 'Don't Chase The Dead', the scream at first I think is taken from I Have To Look Up Just To See Hell... I mean THIS IS 'MARILYN MANSON'. And, he said in an interview in 2019 that he'd name his next album 'Marilyn Manson' cause that's what next album would be. I don't know what the fuck caused him to change the name to 'We Are Chaos'. That's good, but not nearly good as the other songs in this album.
