Kobe in the post, turning baseline for the fadeaway jumper - they look like tough shots, but for him they aren’t. Guy spent the entirety of his existence amidst the world of competitive basketball working on shots like this - yet another “go-to” weapon in the arsenal.
It’s important to note the purpose behind Kobe’s usage of this specific move. The vast majority of clips in this video include a secondary defender either stationed very close to Kobe’s inside shoulder, or running at him trying to disrupt the isolation. Faking baseline to fade strong side would likely make for a more heavily contested look. Recognizing this, Kobe instead turns away from the help to shoot the baseline fallback over his 1 on 1 matchup. Some of the more apparent examples of this can be seen at 0:46, 2:05, 2:59, and 3:28. There are also situations where Kobe’s defender overplays his inside shoulder leaving the baseline option wide open. Kobe reads this and takes advantage - 0:25, 3:28, and 3:52.

If you never knew how to play basketball, just watch Kobe and you'll learn what you need to know and do. Everything he does on the court is picture-perfect. Man, we're loving it, nobody does it like Kobe, ever! Kobe smoking hot. Again Dom Carter thank you for a picture-prefect Kobe game. He's just amazing.
He masterd the game took advice and carved it in his game Kobe was and still is the greatest Laker ever 5 rings could of been six but made up for it by winning a Oscar legend
From 2:10 to 2:20, that’s my favorite part of the video. It all looked and SOUNDED literally the same. Catch....Spin.....Fire.....Splash 💦 all in one quick fluid motion. Got that shot, left or right shoulder, down to a science. Just freaking beautiful #RIP
