If you look at that you wonder how it is possible to survive such crash. Miracleously, the sport had NO casualties since mid 20th century. Alpine skiing brings much more injuries than ski jumping.

Good thing about this sport is that it is not at all as dangerous as it looks. If you know the wind and you have a good balance, you'll manage just fine, but on the rare occasion that an accident happens, the slope is both soft and crooked enough that you'll sort of just slide right in.
mazochs crash wasn´t really like this one. i think romören knew that theres something wrong. for mazoch it was surprising that this happened. also the jump in val die fiemme isn´t that high...

I think it was bad luck that his ski fell, but he was lucky to stand up so fast after the impact.
