Nice bit of kit. I'm about to test out my "new" charity shop colander fire bowl - if it ever stops raining. We grew up eating grey squirrels. Only when the other kids at school found out did we realise it wasn't the norm. Gran's stew could contain sausages, pork, beef, rabbit, and squirrel at any one time. And cat according to my grandad. "You never saw a lot of cats about during rationing." As far as I know, we walked but never wok'd, a dog...

Haha, bloody hell, that's a bangin stew Liam 😄 I can believe that during ration times, anything and everything went into the pot! Including fido! 😄 I remember shopping at aldi when I was a kid, and when my mates found out, I realised that wasn't the norm either, haha. Take it easy pal.

The Brs stove looks pretty nice, Ste. It sure does look just like the Coleman. I always wanted one of the Coleman Featherlite's. I missed the boat on that one. I think they stopped making them a long time ago. I have a Coleman Sportster II, which is the same style but bigger and doesn't have the feet. Too big for backpacking for sure. Have fun on your 2-day Bushcrafting trip!

Hey Jeff, great to hear from you as always, buddy. I think one of the lads on the weekend camp was using the sportster stove! Had a similar base to the Coleman lantern. You will be able to see if it's the same one when I upload the vid next week. The BRS-12A did the job at camp for me, has no hassle, and just worked! Thanks for dropping in, bud. Take it easy.

@BushcraftWithSteOutdoors I'd like to get one of the Brs stoves, wonder if they're available across the pond over here? Take care, brother.

Great video as always Ste 👍. If I had to choose and all else being equal, I would pick the Coleman version if for no other reason than nostalgia 😄. When I camped as a Boy Scout in the 1980s, all we had were the green Coleman naphthalene stoves and lanterns, and the old canvas Woods tents (which were heavy with steel poles and an absolute nightmare to set up and tear down, especially when raining lol😂). It’s good to see companies offering options for those who don’t have an emotional attachment to Coleman, and that looks to be one of those quality options 😁.

😄 I love the camp stories of the old times 😄 reminds me of the film the great outdoors. Proper camping that. I would say it's a good budget offering if you can get one at the lower end of the price scale, but they can be as expensive as the Coleman stove, too. Thanks for dropping in, bud. Take care.

I have this stove for almost 2 years and I like it very much. I'm using Bioethanol as a fuel. Why ethanol? No smoke, no smell, no black soot on generator. For proper fire with Bioethanol I had to change fire nozzle from size 0.33 to size 0.76 mm. I keep this stove inside my 2.3 liter WideSea pot. This is my main bikepack stove, and I love it's durability and performance. On my rough calculations stove uses about 200ml of fuel per hour. So full tank should be enough for 3 hours.
On negative side using alcohol as fuel is less heat, compared to gasoline.

Bioethanol is a great fuel. I use it sometimes in my alcohol stoves, "when I can get it." This stove has proven to be very reliable! I do enjoy using it. It's great to know about the run times, more than adequate that. I use Coleman fuel in this one it does seem to burn cleaner than petrol. Thanks for stopping by. Take care.

    👍👍👍 .. nice-looking Unit 😊.
I wonder if the 'Counterfeiter' blindly replicated the Stove, including the 'Patent Warning' or is 'cocking a snoot' at the Original Manufacturer 😏.
I have a soft spot for Liquid Fuel Stoves .. mine being the Optimus 8R 'Hunter' which I bought new in the early 80's and still use regularly.
Grey Squirrels .. for some regions 'open game', as they often drive out the Indigenous little Red Fellows.
A good share .. thanks. It's going to be a nice sunny day here in Northern Switzerland on the Rhine (for a change) .. think I'll get out and rustle up a brunch at the nearby River Park on the 8R. Cheers!

Hey there, my fine Swiss gent. They are very handy to have on hand for a quick meal or brew for sure. I'm also a fan of retro camp gear. That sounds like a great stove. Yeah, we have that problem here regarding the red and greys. Hope the day was nice enough for you to enjoy the stove, buddy. Take it easy.

Interesting looking stove. Catch and cook would be an awesome video! ........ And that new Winnerwell was looking mighty fine!
Hey bro, I had a quick question if you don't mind. Your audio always sounds really good and I notice you always have on a lapel mic with the wind sock on. I recently picked one up to get some better audio on the channel. Recoded a video today, but the wind sock seemed to drown out too much of the background noise. I like the birds, crackling fire and leaves, water running, etc. Any suggestions?
Should I only use the wind sock when talking?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, man! 👍✌️

@@BushcraftWithSteOutdoors I actually just use my phone. It's a Samsung Galaxy s22. I was actually messing around with it last night and I think I figured it out. Downloaded the Razer Streaming app and changed some settings. The noise cancelling was set to high. When I turned that off it worked. Also changed the sensitivity. Tested it as a storm rolled through last night.
      Do you use multiple mics?

    • @BushcraftWithSteOutdoors
      @BushcraftWithSteOutdoors  Před 3 měsíci +1

Good camera on the s22, bud. I just updated my s22 for the 24 ultra! Now I'm debating whether or not to just use that, 😄 I sometimes use dual mics to capture ambient environment sounds and overlay into the soundtrack. Not very often, though, as the maono wirless is decent on its own. I'm glad you got the gremlins sorted, buddy.
