We might eventually get back to that once Djokovic and Nadal retire. Maybe not 10-15, but 6 or 7 guys could be in the mix to hold world no. 1 at various points.
Although I don't dislike Medvedev I came here just to get few glimpses of the maestro playing.

Medvedev always gives trouble to Djokovic same as Murray used to do before his lower back injury and surgery but can't do the same to Nadal because Nadal has same blueprint to play Medvedev and Murray.
You know why? Becouse they don't have the best attacking game. To beat Nadal on regular you need to have good defence, offence, good forehand and backhand. Murray and Medvdev don't have the best forehands and their attacking game is not their A plan so that is crucial for Nadal
@@boriskostic6964 yes djokovic actually has a very good attacking game contrary to belief. Although he usually plays more conservative as it almost guarantees him the win.
Nadal has evolved his game so much now. He is so strong in every aspect of the game, his top spin destroyed Roger, then Djokovic started catching up and now Nadal has a very solid defense and offence along with the ability to switch it up anytime. Danny will have to take another step to beat that, he might find some success against Roger too if he is able to do that. With Djokovic I feel both are so similar.

Oh hell naw! Just because Djokovic gets upset at Dubai, doesn't make Medvedev a part of the group. Federer got to number 1 by beating Safin in AO 2004 final (I think). Nadal got to number 1 by at least making the semis of Cincinnati (where he lost to Djokovic). Djokovic got to number 1 by beating Tsonga at Wimbledon 2011. Sampras, Borg, McEnroe, and Sampras are closer to the big 4 than Daniil. Plus, Daniil played like utter shit against Nadal at Acapulco, which isn't how a world number 1 should be playing.

@@XheraPhine Thanks, I can read myself. This does not change anything though. GS points for example go into the ATP Race, go into the ATP ranking etc. Players at GS events receive ATP prize money. I could go on and on. Always happy to educate the uneducated.

Medvedev is just a gap filler. Completely relies on the old guard (Nadal and Djokovic) not being at their best during Grand Slams. As soon as more young players show up to close the gap, he will spend the rest of his career around position 10 in the rankings.
