Killer job dude!! I love when I can watch a video of pinstriping to get stoked to paint. Nice little tip I learned to prevent the skinning from happening to the paint, you open the fresh can, pop a nut or marble in it and seal it again, then poke a hole at the top and put a screw into it. When you pour a couple times the paint will dry around the screw to seal it. And the marble makes for a nice permanent mixer lol. Keep it up the killer work!!!

Appreciated the reasoning behind the mineral spirits over turp. Additionally, I think this is the first video I have seen where "how to gauge" the thickness of the paint was discussed. Most either assume that you know or "you'll figure it out" after a gallon of paint. Good job! More lettering lessons please.

being is the sign business since 1985. i did work in a sign supply shop for a few years. their was one man that comes to mind. Larry Hooks he would come in every month and buy a list of half pints of one shot paints. he was the master of hand lettering in Rhode Island. great how to video. keep them up.

Hey dude, just a update. Solved problem with water in the hose. Just bought a new and much better air compressor! Still working on thinning paint. I have over a 100 colors of acrylic paint that I use for my ceramic things and don't want to buy new ones. Again thank u for answering my questions and for ur advice. I think ur idea for fantastic is fantastic but bc of the virus it can't be found. LOL! Still putting my 20 hours in I WILL get to where I want to go. Thanks again! Debbie

it's funny, l watched the Bumblebeast video, and the Wolf helmet and thought this guy has a signwriting background. Old GOOD habits die hard brother.
l was lucky enough to teach some primary school kids the basic idea of signwriting using water based paints, man the look on there faces when they picked up a brush and had a go was simply brilliant, it's a great release for the brain to be creative. What l saw with those kids will never leave me, it was truly awesome.

Hi Ryan, I have just watched this video for the second time and I know that you like feedback. I opened a tin of paint for a motorbike last week and the paint was 8 years old, there was no skin and the tin was half full, just a quick stir and I was on my way. The trick was to shake the tin after I used it and it seals the lid, thus reducing any air, which makes skin in the tin. Take Care Bro !!!!!!!

Flattening powder. Yeah right lol. My apartment was broken into and I had a bag of malic acid powder stolen along with many other things. Malic acid a white powder and is the super sour stuff on the outside of the really, really sour hard candies. I REALLY hope those bastards indulged heavily when they got home with my stuff. Awesome lettering. You have skills on top of skills man.

Nice video. Thanks for sharing. I've learned as I am closing my 1shot can, to have the cover on top of the can and raise an edge a touch and exhale into the can expelling the oxy in the can. Snap it shut before you stop exhaling. Then leave the can upside down until ready to use again. No skin on top. Entertaining video.

Oh this is so cool - I had no idea Flattening powder existed! FYI - 1-Shot makes "Clear Flattening Paste 4329500" in a 32oz can. It works well. Don't know how expensive the powder is, but the Paste is like $35. I have a sneaky suspicion that the powder can get you even more flat than the paste because it looks like the paste has more paint additives, etc. to make it a liquid.

I enjoy your videos and have learned pretty much everything I know about airbrushing from you. I do happen to know a bit about pinstriping and hand lettering though, and just wanted to mention that if you don't plan to clearcoat over One Shot it is a really good idea to use a catalist. One Shot sells a hardener that works great.

I had no doubt that you knew about the hardener brother, I just thought I would put that out there for anyone who wants to try painting with One Shot. Ever since they changed the formula it's nowhere near as durable as it used to be. Ten years ago you could use it straight from the can and it would be there damn near forever but not anymore. HOK is the same way. Gotta love environmental regulations.

I like to put a tapered screw in the top of the lid in the center of the one shot cans, the paint never skins over , last forever, just put the screw back in right after you dump the paint out u need. also try steve kafkas "smooth stroke" additive

Hey thank you soo much for this video! I’m trying to paint a bare metal sign (making a custom garage sign) for the first time and was considering using one shot for the lettering portion but do you think I could use rustoleum spray paint for the base? Not sure what else I could use..
When tackling a new project or using a new product. I always recommend doing a test panel to finish. This way you'll see for your self if its will work or not. your videos are great, learned a bunch of lil tidbits/tricks already. question brah, i have ran into a problem when laying leaf, where the leaf sticks to parts of painted/clear areas (with no size being there) and had a disaster to the point where i carefully sanded off size and leafing to start fresh...? am i pressing to hard while laying the leaf? also my leafing looks like lil fractures (small tares it looks to me) when i engine turn em? did i miss my window? or am i pre ejaculating lol. thanks in advance!
Brandie Fox I like to use a makeup brush for applying "blush"
It's a great way to sweep away any access leaf once your size is dried. Also you shouldn't need do give it access pressure. Just rub down gently with your fingertips (that's what she said)😀😆🤣😉 Hard to say exactly the cause though. As for engine turning, I like to use a slow dry size for more brilliant golds. This also leaves a nice window for the engine turning. If you wait till the size is dry. Then you may have to apply more pressure in the turning process and risk tearing and scratching the leaf. I'll try to tackle the turning within an hours of the first piece of leave being applied. I hope this answers your questions broski!!😎 Big Cheers and Much Love from the BloodShot Studio!🤘

Your local humidity may be an issue for drying times. You can try using a dehumidifier in your spray area. But a harder is almost always recommend! Hope this helps!! 😁 Big Cheers and Much Love from the BloodShot Studio!!🤘😎🍻

Thanks my friend! Glad you enjoy the show!! 😁 So this paint is labeled as a permanent paint. It says you can apply it to most surfaces without scuffing and clearing... Now I prefer to sand, clean then do the lettering. And finally have it cleared over top. This is the most durable finish I've found!! Otherwise, I recommend the clients to wax over top on a regular basis. The wax will act as a protective coating for a bit, then will need to be reapplied! 👍 I hope this answers your questions my friend!! Big Cheers and Much Love from the BloodShot Studio!!🤘😎
I would love to hear your thoughts on spray hoods.
I actually use an AC unit to cycle the air in my Studio, but Ive seen House hold oven range hood fans used and exhausted through windows.. You can get professional grade up draft or down draft booths of a variety of set ups.. But if your only spraying the occasional rc.. A oven hood fan should do the trick! Hope this helps! Cheers!

I was given over 30 cans of bran new 1 shot paint that was never opened but it was stored in a building that wasn’t heated and I’m in Eastern Canada so it gets well below freezing. Do you think the paint is still good or would it be garbage? Thanks for the videos brother.

Hi . i just started using one shot. Do you have to use a respirator when hand lettering or is that just for spray painting. I didn't see you using a mask. Maybe I missed it.

Thanks broski!!😁 Left for life!! 😉 so the paint I'm using here is called 1SHOT lettering enamel. I'm not sure where you are, but I can buy it at the local sign supply store. Brushes also. The brushes are specifically designed for this paint. The hold a lot of paint so you can pull long lines. Mack brushes are probably the best known, I loled Kafka brushes for scroll work and fine lines. The pinstripe brushes actually act as a bit if a rutter, allowing the long bristles to compensate for the shakes! You should give it a try!😁👍 I was taught by a young buck of the ripe ol age of 64! Why don't you use a salt/pepper shaker for the powder? It's won't make a mess, no 3 bags are needed, and it's always there by your hand. Just a good advice. Cool video! Greetings!

Suggest putting flattening powder in a salt shaker. Should be cleaner to use mixing. Also replace plastic bags with glass jars.

A salt shaker sounds like a good option. I was thinking of a ketchup squeeze bottle from the diner, or even a cleaned out Elmer's glue bottle. I have used those for decades to blow dust off my camera lenses, and negatives when printing in the darkroom. Yeah, some of us still do that! Old school analog is a good thing, whether it is photo or painting. So many would opt for some CNC cut vinyl without giving it a second thought, and it would look like crap. Support your local artist! (Especially when she/he uses the proper hand!)
So aside from One Shot paint what are cheaper ones? I’m interested in learning so I would like to get cheaper paint and then slowly get a few One Shots

Hi. I have a issue when painting letters and stripes on my bike. Despite having cleaned surface and brush, it leaves residue like tiny small bubble style spots and marks like sand dots. Sorry kind of trying to explain..lol what can I do different or where did I make a mistake and can improve..Thanks
Hmmmm..... 🤔 hard to say without being there.... 🤓 my first thought is that if the surface and brush are clean.... how about the paint?🤔😁 Possibly may have some dried up chunks that are giving you trouble... you can strain with a fine filter to remove any such annoyances! 😁👍 my second thought is that you may have developed some static charge when cleaning the surface!.. for this you can actually use an old dryer sheet and gently wipe down the surface. It's safe. I reckon that the type of metal may affect how well the enamel will adhere to the surface....but One Shot is the gold standard. After completely setting up for 24-48 hours One Shot doesn't want to go anywhere. I practice on glass and it's hard to get off with a sharp razor blade after a day or two so I imagine it would be just as effective on copper, tin, pewter or whatever. No worries about health concerns. Most of my clothes are covered in the stuff. Sincerely, Doctor Feelgood M.D.

Do you know of any paints other than alcohol inks that would be suitable for glass, and able to go through my brush?
Justin Sylvester glass is a tricky one... the only thing I've ever used that had any staying power is the 1SHOT paints... and even they will easily scratch... I try to stay away from painting glass. If it's etched... almost any paint will bind to the etched part... hope this helps! Cheers!
It helped, though discouragingly so...I was really hoping in that vast paint knowledge, there may be a solution to this problem, but thanks for the 1-shot tip, I will try it and see if maybe sealing it will help.

Definitely lettering. Airbrushing can be challenging, lettering and pinstriping can be very relaxing I find! 😊

Thanks for the amazing support my friend!! And when working with one shot, you can go either way... I didn't clear this one. So the Client will have to wax it religiously to keep it protected.

is that matting powder calcium carbonate? i have used calcium carbonate in other paints to create a pastel look. and to make gesso.
To be honest my friend!! I'm not sure the chemical make up of this particular powder ...🤓 I ordered it in as a 1SHOT flattening agent. It came with no label.... no instructions... just a bag of white powder through the mail.. 🤔 now that I think about it.....😬 maybe that wasn't my wisest purchase... lmao!! But seriously, all I know is that it works. I'm sure if I put some effort in... I could find out.... but I'm lazy... or just to busy.... which ever sounds better... 🤪 Any ways...
