  • I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
    I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
    Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Thanks for watching.

      On the other hand ... all these drains we built to dry out farmland or for houses or whatever, is one of the reasons groundwater levels are dropping. The water no longer sits and filters down.

On another note, I think CZcams dropped their bitrate quite a bit over the past year or 2. Any chance you could export as like 1440p or 4k? It'll make sure CZcams doesn't crush the bitrate on the flowing water. I understand if you don't want to. Just an FYI from someone who used to clean these sections for a living, don't throw large amounts of debris down the culvert. If the flow isn't strong it will just come to rest in the centre and make a future clean up crew's life a pain. Take them out and pile them back a few feet from the entrance so they don't fall back in and the crew will see it and clean it up.

      There is a huge one in Salt Lake. People put a board in front of it to let water build up, then they yank the board, and you go flying through on an innertube. Pretty popular in the summer. :) Many people have drowned in the rock pool at the end of tge chute during storm season though. It's in a dog park, and people will let their dogs play in it when water is running fast, then they jump in to save the dog and drown. Pretty tragic, but preventable just by using your brain...

  • @LabTech41
    @LabTech41 Před 2 lety +7

    The DoT up there must've ignored this one for quite a while to have so much debris pile up that it essentially made the other culvert vanish; it had multiple tree logs in it, and I can't imagine those things drop into a river every day. That looks like months, if not years, of pile up, considering how rotten the logs were.
    The other culvert looked relatively unobstructed, so maybe the DoT thought that so long as at least one was relatively clear, the other one didn't matter.

Question for you - if/when you come across something such as this where you cannot clear it by hand, do you contact the local department of public works that does maintain these things so they can clear it? If/when you do, would you be allowed to film and post that content as well? I'd be fascinated to see a follow up on a situation such as this one. Have a blessed day - you do amazing work!!

    Willow trees have an amazing life force. Just a broken branch will sprout roots and grow into a sizable bush in a few seasons if it falls on the right spot. Such as a nice moist pile of half rotten leaves in front of a clogged culvert. And here it seems to be a whole tree that washed down the stream
