- 3:33 WOW I say I haven't seen lightning all day then FLASH BOOM over and over, I did not even notice the flashes of lightning, I was paying attention to my camera screen and focusing on the flood
"Even though we're hearing a lot of thunder, I haven't seen any lightning." *Lightning immediately flashes*
I know. I was like, then look up my dude!!!
😂🤣
It's been flashing lightening the whole time too. Ha
Rain stopped < nope
No Lightning < nope
Lightning = strikes a tree nearby
Audience = are you blind!!
I'm half tempted to watch again and comment with timestamps of all the lightening flashes lol
Just imagine seeing a strange guy coming out of the woods recording himself unclog drains and then retreat back into the woods lol
Nprice lmfao! I was thinking the same shit!
And talking to himself.
I do imagine people pulling their curtains back a little and wondering what he's doing. (Smile).
Drain cleaner sasquatch?
Then that means it’s him
I love the idea of you just coming out of the woods in a torrential downpour, fixing a flooded street clog, then disappearing back into the woods again. Truly some epic thunder as well; I'm jealous. Thanks for all that you do!
😂
"As you can see, the rain has stopped." (clap of thunder)
love how he’s saying there’s not lightning…when there’s lightning the entire time he’s standing there by the water while the thunderstorm is super close to him
Just watching this and I’m amazed and a little horrified at the same thing! How is he not seeing it?!! I can see the flash clearly on camera, and some of those strikes are really close, too! Unclogging drains is cool and helpful, but I would not be out there right then with that blitz going on. Better to wait to wait a while for it to pass than risk your life. I had a family member almost killed by lightning, and she was just standing in an open doorway. Standing in water is literally one of the worst things you can do in a thunderstorm. If he truly can’t see when it’s lightning like this, and the thunder isn’t a big clue, he should put a lightning detector app on his phone. Weatherbug has one built into their free weather app and I use it all the time. I’m worried one of his next videos is going to be titled, “Man Killed by Lightning while Unclogging Street Drain”. :( Yikes.
Can see the flashes reflected in the water!
@@wabbitt124 Dude seems intelligent enough except when it comes to understanding how lightning works.
I can only assume that the camera is picking up the lightning That his eyes can't. What's distressing is that, if you count the interval between the lightning and the Thunder, it's less than zero. Meaning the Lightning's right on top of him.

I was thinking the same thing I love rain and the thunder 🤗 I makes me happy
genuinely worried for this guy, he says he hasn't seen lightning but thunder always comes from lightning and that is not the sound of distant lightning either. that's the kind of crackle you hear when it strikes really close by, so it's either jumping between clouds straight overhead or he's missing the flash somehow.
@@dietotaku yes it is! At some points in the video i even saw the lightning going across the sky from the reflection of the water. And this guy didnt even flinch, camera was steady the whole time
During hurricane Ike, I uncloged the drain of my street while every other street filled with water. The neighbors looked at me crazy as I was out there pulling branches from the drain. I was the first to be outside early in the morning and about an hour later, the entire neighborhood was helping me go street to street unclogging drains and reducing waist high flood water. Felt good that day.
Good man!! It is all about being united💪
Congrats to you, but my question is, why does everybody forget to do this when it is dry out. Post 10 could save himself a lot of trouble, but I guess we would not be as impressed.
@@jrus690 I guess most of the garbage that clogs the drains will only arrive with the first showers pouring down the streets.
@@jrus690 the drains often aren’t clogged when it’s dry out. What tends to happen is heavy rain will wash debris down to the drain eventually clogging it.
I live at the bottom of a hill and everyone blows their grass clippings and leaves out into the street. they all come down to my house and clog the drains right outside my driveway. I go out there every few weeks and clear it out. IDK what they're going to do when we move out in the next year or so lmao.

I clear the drain by my place all the time, but not that much water.
As someone who totalled their car by flooding their engine, thank you so much for what you do.
You're an absolute hero.
You can’t total a car by flooding the engine wtf. All water would do is hydro lock it. To fix it would only require boring out and resleeving/honing cylinders, new pistons/rings, rods, crank, bearings, and valves. That together is only a couple grand depending on the car.
@@AJS_Drums usually if you flood the engine the water is probably high enough to fry all the electronics inside the car then it's just not even worth the repair.
@@AJS_Drums "only a couple grand depending on the car". Most cars on the street are worth under 2k lol... aka totaled because its more expensive to repair then the car is worth.
I wonder if that could have been prevented by not driving through deep water??

Just a reminder to anyone who sees an opportunity to do this in the future, please be very careful when approaching a drain cover that you cannot see. There have been cases of people attempting to do this and unfortunately drowning because of there not actually being a cover there, or the cover had shifted enough for a gap to form.
Guy in upstate ny got sucked into a pipe pushing someone’s car in the flood. The cover got pushed off. Sucked him right in. Everyone there was in shock. Found his body miles away in the pipe. Truly sad and scary. Got to be smart and safe

Dude..be very careful with these situations. We had a flood problem in our city. A good Samaritan like you, attempted to help a lady with her car that was parked in the street. The flooding was so bad, it actually lifted a manhole cover completely out. The kid had no clue about this, and ultimately he fell down and died in the sewer system. Just terrible.
Heard about this too. Super tragic and something I won’t forget if I see kids playing around flooded drains.
Yeah would go walking and poking around with out a hiking pole or something.
It’s safer with a grate and in this case there isn’t enough water for that situation. But good point

Thank you so much not only for draining the street but also for filming and posting and all of the info you gave. I don’t even know where you’re at but I loved learning about it and getting a tour of your area! Very satisfying to watch the street drain.
This gives me memories of childhood. I never did this exact thing, opening up drains, but I did things that were a little bit like this. My brother and I used to crawl through big metal storm drains, not while they were full of water, but when it was mostly dry. I was mostly scared of spiders. I found out later, as an adult, that toxic gases can build up, if you go really deep inside the drains, depending on how the drain is shaped. Some gases rise upwards, and some gases sink downwards, into high or low parts of the drain. My brother and I also built small dams in creeks, just dams made out of sticks and leaves.

The worst danger of covers coming off isn't getting hit, it's getting sucked into the sewer
@@jonathanpilcher337 this water goes into stormdrains which are a different line than sewage.

At 4:54 that lightning was really close. Awesome sounds you recorded dude. Very satisfying video 👍
Him: haven't seen any lightning
Lightning: well, I've seen you

Also Lightning: Im gonna tag you >:) but i have 0.00001% change .__.

Not all heros wear capes... wow. You're an amazing human!
Lightning in deadly range, boots full of water. Still got a positive attitude 😂
His rubber souls will at least isolate him
@@1273312 well it's been 3 years or so when he started doing this, prb get used to it
Man set with glorious purpose... 😁😁😁
(And a Rake in the car)
@@Lighting_Desk no it won't. the water is inside his boots lol.
Ja, I was thinking just stand out the water while the Thunderstorm happens, don't want a post Post 10 who is cooked to a crisp.
Also water in the boots is still separate from the water outside. Won't shock him, the rubber soles will help.
I went from binge watching lawn mowing vids to a guy unclogging drains… what a great night 😄
Lmao this comment is kinda sad ngl

Dude, you're brave af. Storms in Maine are NO JOKE! Neither are Deer Ticks. I've been following your New England Wildlife and More channel for years but just recently stumbled upon this one. Good stuff, man. Hope you got yourself a nice Lobstah and Steamahs after this one!
