- This subwoofer box design is for a single 12” subwoofer in a 2.5 cubic ft box tuned to 34HZ. All dimensions are included within this video. Please note that the internal volume is based upon the displacement of an average 12” subwoofer. The actual tuning and final air volume will vary slightly based upon the subwoofer used.

All I can say is wow!!! just got done building this box for a cheap walmart dual sub. I would have never belived this sub could hit the low notes it's hitting.

yes, Box is 2.5 Cu. feet but always remember to Subtract the Subwoofer displacement Volume for your Net Cu. feet. 🖒
Thanks for the video. I like to tune lower, would you recommend wider port or longer port for lower Hz? I would like to shoot for 23 Hz.

There are a few special tools you can use, I'm not really cutting anything to shape in my trunk build right now, I am fiber glassing everything up to the edge. I'll try to cover it somehow in the future.

2 Things: GREAT design choice!! I used to build one similar for a 12" 2.3 ft tuned @ 34 with a slot port. A few friends I made some for named them "The Wonder Box" because you could get amazing bass throwing almost ANYTHING in it. But My Q is what software are you doing the CAD style sheets on? Thanks! New to channel question is , is the vented style box better than the pvc ported style just looking for a simple reason why? I haven’t built any box yet for a single soundqubed 12 on a 600 watt amp and most likely will get the Rockford fosgate 6-8 for a Ford explore I’m starting off simple
so if i wanted to build a box with two 12'' would i just double every number. one of the subs is an mtx and mtx recommends a 2.00 cubic feet box size

Thanks alot for this. But do you know if lining it with 1 inch foam about 1.5pcf density will make the sub think its in a smaller box?

I noticed you had a vid where you were curving the inside of your sub box to assist in more efficient sound flow through the box. How much of a difference has it made for your sound?

Est Cruz I think that helps with the air flow of the box so it doesnt overheat
subwoofer boxes does not overheat. If your subs get that hot they are probably on fire.

I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 extended cab, I put a 12" older alpine type r that is enclosed in a roughly 1.25 - 1.35 cubic feet with long side port, ran 2ohm to a kicker zx750x1. It sounds like crap until I roll down the windows or open the doors.

i rounded them up to 0.5 inch and the box went together perfectly no leaks

Most definitely using this build for my 12" kicker I'm putting in my 2002 blazer. Watch all your videos when I get the chance, just recently ordered your placement laser so I can build my custom A pillar beams for the CTsounds 1" and 3" Meso component speakers! Thanks for all the tips and tricks and for uploading it all! Much appreciated mark, but, I have a question if i could bother to ask about this particular build/video;
On the front of the enclosure does the dimension of the width include the piece that is the first section of the internal port or is that just a beveled edge for air flow?? Thanks again looking forward to the next one

Mexicutiioner V2 the frequency at which the box will be tuned to will change if you alter the internal volume of the box.

Im also designing a 2.5 cu ft box for a 12 inch. I want it to be tuner to 28 Hz, but i have to make the port into a "U" shape, rather than the "L" shaped port u used. Will the U shaped port cause port noise or will the air flow through nicely?

Have you ever ran into port velocity issues?
This would of been perfect for me cause i have the bl 12 but there is to much depth. I need a box that is more lengthy instead of depthy lol like 29 in the length 15 in height. tuned for the fi sub...FOr some reason there are hardly any designs of rectangular boxes, they are all more square which in my case takes up to much room. I need a rectangular design with the woofer in the center of the box.

You should definitely do one for an 18" Fi BL that I'm getting. I really want it at 6 cubes tuned to 30 hz. :( I just suck at building boxes :(

I am building a home entertainment center and in the center are planed two powered subwoofers 12" . I am planning to have the box made from MDS 16"H by 14"wide and 17" deep the back will have the power amp for the speaker and a air passage out the front of the enclosure at the bottom. my Question is will my size work for good quality sound. I am using 12" Polk Audio subwoofers and power amps. to a Samsung AV R-730 stereo home entertainment receiver.

Would this box be good for a Soundstream tarantula t4 12", recommended box volume on the manual says 2 cu.ft. and tuning freq at 41hz for max power, and 3 cu.ft. for SQ with freq at 32hz. I'd go with ported design as you showed in this video. Thanks!

Do one with two 10" subs
Im building in a 97 ford F-350, thinking center console. Not looking for competition, just full potential. The prefab boxes for under the rear sea only have 1.6 cubic feet for 2 speakers (either 10, or 12) I was looking for suggestions. Im a carpenter and dont think Id have trouble building a box, but I dont know about car audio. Thanks for any info.
