My grandma gave me a frashly painted 65' LeManns. I rebuilt the 326 at 15 years old in 1982. No internet or cell phones, strictly books and magazines. I had the block machined, big cam, 455 heads and manifold, and a Holly 4 barrel. It would walk my gym teacher's 389 GTO!! Leaked oil like crazy (not my fault) but ran for years!!
What seems like a lifetime ago. I worked for a aftermarket header company called Clifford Performance. I found that using 030 wire worked the best for welding headers and tail pipes. Also I prefer to wear two pairs of those brown jersey gloves or some gloves made for Tig welding when I'm doing Mig welding. The gloves you were welding with IMO should only be used for Arc welding. But welding is just like anything else practice, practice, practice. Good Luck on the trip. As for how much the car weighs. I'll say 3251lbs.
Your smiles were making me smile. This made me remember my younger days building cars, figuring out things, going for test drives, great experiences that will stay with you forever!!
I loved watching this video. It was cool seeing the grit and determination in perfecting your welding skills. It's a more rare sight to see these day, way to go awesome lady!!!
Nice job gang!! I was smiling right along with y’all. Nothing like that first drive, you’ll always remember it. Really sounds and looks good, looking forward to your first trip video. Enjoy…be safe!!😀😀👍👍
Great job on all the repairs and restoration stuff on your Tempest! She's a beast!! It's now a grand touring Pontiac over five liters!! It's now a GTO-Tempest.
Rule of thumb..if you’ve got an ls and have room to do an xpipe, and equal length exhaust up to the xpipe, you do it. You will still have the “classic” sound you want at idle, but will also sound so much better cruising and wot.
I blew through so much metal when I started welding! Just takes time and you have a decent welding setup so you'll get used to it fast! Get some scrap metal and exhaust parts and just practice. I still suck at it but still! Love this build!!
The car looks so much tougher with the dual exhaust, it sounds so good too, completely went from grandma's church going beater to hot rod, congratulations.
👏👏 Well done, Girlie!! When I was learning to weld {many moons ago} my first several attempts all came out looking like somebody had stuck huge wads of grey bubblegum all over the joint!! We're talking "booger welds" on steroids here - ELEPHANT boogers, dig? An easy way to practice "flowing your beads" is to lay your hands on a simple soldering iron and a bit of scrap metal to polish up the skills. Vastly different tool on a much smaller scale, yes, but the TECHNIQUE is exactly the same. I also learned the hard way that it's wise to keep an aloe plant or three on hand when you're playing with the fire / lightning. Finally, I absolutely love the sound of the exhaust. Just enough of the rumpity-rump to let everyone know you mean business, whilst still being drive-thru friendly as you mentioned. And nary a hint of that ridiculous fake "cam crackle" found on more than a few of today's muscle machines, for good measure. All in all it's really starting to come together, and I'm eagerly looking forward to what comes next. KUTGW!!😎
Cars looking and sounding great y'all. For only welding 2 times Olivia , those welds looked pretty damn awesome .Like the guys said..thats how you get experience..Nice job.😉
My 67 Cutlass weighed 3810 with me at Great Lakes Dragway and I am 285. That was after a run down the track for Sick Summer 2023. 5.3 LS 4L80E and 6 point roll bar, full interior
Really good for your third weld. Keep at it, the more you weld, the better you'll get. Don't be disappointed, be proud of what You're building. Most people pay someone to do their exhaust system. Big difference between a payer and builder. Liv, welcome to the builder group!
Hej Dennis Jeg er selv på udkig efter en Tempest, LeMans eller en GTO. Så længe den har en 389 eller 400 motor i. Tror 350 er for lidt. Hvad er din erfaring ?
Your best weld was when you were leading the 'puddle'...you did good 👍 when you can steady hold the stinger one handed - you can rotate the work piece with the other hand...you're almost there - closer than you think
It rumbles nicely with Turbo Mufflers, awesome daily driver. Yer not ready for a welding competition yet. The only completion now is pulling up beside guys smirking at yer patina ride and then you leaving em in yer Dust! As for the Tempest weight, I'll say about 3689 lbs.
caught and VGG Derek ... he mentioned you are from canada... so I came over to your channel to take a peak... there are not to many Canada car channels ... well there are a few.... I have jeeps... and a lone hot rod mercury... that I am waiting to have delivered .... this week.... 64 long box... with a 302... and a super wind blower ...
Thanks Liv&Danny & Andrew for sharing your skills 👍👍!!
Tempest has come a long way from when you pulled it the garage with the 6cyl. Great job!
That Tempest looks and sounds beautiful.
The Tempest sounds healthy 🏁🤙🏼

Yeah the Pontiac is back on the road! So exciting! You really need to put your hair in a ponytail when soldering. Good job just staring out though.
Thanks Liv, hopefully everything went well.
Central California watching.
That sounds incredible!

Very nice job guys , fun day.

Sounds great. Nice Memories for me. I learned to drive in 1969 on a 1967 Tempest with a 326. Love those cars!
The car looks so much tougher with the dual exhaust, it sounds so good too, completely went from grandma's church going beater to hot rod, congratulations.
Damn, it sounds so good! Lovin the progress.
That sounds real good!
Sounds great!

You did a good job 👍
That’s beautiful welding
3600 lbs. Glad to see it up and running good.
Hey I'm loving the channel. I'm a Pontiac man. PLEASE straighten the steering wheel out...❤
Never told Olivia ? the real trick in mig... start your weld and make tiny circles as you progress... don't stop welding unless there is an issue...
olivia, great job on ls engine rebuild
Bad Ass Car Liv!!!!!

Your best weld was when you were leading the 'puddle'...you did good 👍 when you can steady hold the stinger one handed - you can rotate the work piece with the other hand...you're almost there - closer than you think

I think i smell some Canadian Bacon, haha, you did a good job on your welding job. Lemans sounds bad to the bone, keep it up.
