    Really enjoyed this, Matt! Love all the storage on the straps, and the fact that they are nice and wide with two sternum straps (although I guess that doesn't make it a sternum strap then lol.) Great video!

      @timbschwartz Thanks Tim! The pockets and access to them while on-the-go has been enjoyable and allows me to cover more mileage each day. They’ve been some great packs so far.

    Thanks for making this video and including so many details and views! I've just recently learned about Nashville Packs and the fast-packing style of bags so I've been searching up everything I can find. Did you ultimately decide not to get the Bridge because its size wasn't as useful for your usual trips?

      @RobYu You're welcome. Thanks for visiting my channel and watching. Nashville Packs makes some great packs. I actually just missed out on the Bridge pack. It was released shortly after I had already purchased the Cutaway and Tiempo. I'll probably pick one up at some point though haha. The shoulder straps are some of the most comfortable I've worn and I like that there is an option to select different fabrics now with their packs when purchasing. The Bridge would be a good option and offer me a little extra room than the Tiempo. Since it's basically a mini version of the Cutaway, it also has the shelf pocket that I've been enjoying too.

    thanks for introducing Nashville. Can I ask if you think that the Tiempo can work like a good running vest? As good as Ultimate Direction ‘s running vest? Thanks for sharing anyway.

    Thanks for the detailed go-through of these packs! Sorry if I missed it - but it seemed like there wasn't any space left for food in the Tiempo, is that correct? Already own a Cutaway 30L and considering adding a Tiempo to my gear closet

    • @matjobin
      @matjobin  Před 5 měsíci +1

      @buksted It's in there around 23:44 =). There wasn't much left though as I had unpacked the pack for the video right after I got off trail. I've been able to carry 3 days of food with all my gear in the Tiempo comfortably and a couple additional snacks in the outer pocket. For certain 3-season trips and trails of course. Both packs are fantastic and I really dig my Cutaway 30L. I think I saw that they are making the Cutaway in a 20L and 40L now too. Thanks for watching!

      @@buksted It surprisingly has a fair amount of room inside. A good dialed in kit and awareness with packing it will help too.

    Great video. Why did you choose the material that you did? What’s pro:cons of the material options? This is a great pack. The bottom pouch is huge and replaces hip belt pockets and Fanny pack for me. Such a great feeling walking without clutter around my body.
    Also- do you think you’d prefer a longer or shorter shoulder strap option? Or is it just right for you?

    • @matjobin
      @matjobin  Před rokem +1

      @RC-qf3mp Thank you! My choices were limited when I purchased mine. It was either an Ultragrid fabric or the Ultra 200. I've been happy with the Ultra 200 with my Pa'lante v2, but didn't want another solid black or white pack so I opted for the Ultragrid. I've been digging the colorway and the Ultragrid fabric for its durability, abrasion resistance and water resistance. Plus the recycled fabric has an aesthetically nice nostalgic look. It's biggest drawbacks in my experience would be the nylon face fabric's ability to still absorb some moisture and the heavier weight of the fabric compared to others. Whereas I haven't experienced that with the Ultraweave fabric yet. The bottom pocket is massive and is something I have been enjoying too. I like the access to it and ability to organize a bit more.
      I find the 19" strap length to be perfect. Shorter and the ends would rest right on my rib cage, longer and the straps might end up being pulled in all the way. The straps on my Pa'lante Joey measure around 17.5" and I find I like the extra length with the 19" straps a bit more.

    I'm actually looking at a Cutaway since my Joey is just a bit too small for what I need. Would you say the Cutaway can handle weight better than the Joey? I found the Joey got uncomfortable above 20lbs, and I need to be able to haul up to 25 comfortably...

    • @matjobin
      @matjobin  Před 2 měsíci

      @klamathmountainultralight 20 lbs is about the max I would carry in the Joey for any extended period of time. It’s manageable, but I’ll generally go with the V2 or Desert Pack if carrying more than that (though running vest strap pocket access won’t be a feature with those two packs). The Cutaway definitely handles a little more weight than the Joey (at least in my experience). If I still want all of the generous access while on the move and find I’m around 20-25 lbs, I go with the Cutaway. The additional hipbelt straps (and padded attachments) can help with the weight a little too. I actually have a comparison video in the works between my Joey and Cutaway packs, so check back to the channel soon.

    Hi Mat, i'm looking at getting a new pack. i'm between the Nashville Cutaway & Palante Dessert pack. which one of the 2 do you like better?

    • @matjobin
      @matjobin  Před 7 měsíci

      @surfandstreamfisher5749 Both are fantastic packs so it would be tough to pick. I guess if I had to though the Desert pack would have a slight edge over the Cutaway for me. I like the streamline design and simplicity of the pack. It suits me and my hiking style just a little bit more. If I'm looking to carry more outside of my pack and/or have easier access to it while on the move then I'd take my Cutaway. I find both to wear very comfortably, but I do prefer running vest style straps so the Cutaway would check that box for me with that capacity pack. I've been debating adding a vest harness to my Desert pack due to my preference, but I haven't done so yet.

      @jamestan1261 Thanks for visiting my channel. I've found the Tiempo to sit and carry well when running, but there is some bounce in the pack (expected with most packs that are filled up). If I'm not carrying a lot in the pack, I've found it to be a little awkward with the bottom pocket and compression strap system, but it still works. Filling the pack at least half way or with 5-6 L of items helps. I don't have much experience with the UD vests and have only really used their tarp and bivy system in the past (there's a video on my channel from a few years ago going over it). So I can't give a fair comparison between the two. The Tiempo has been a great addition to my pack lineup and it's nice to have something so small still work with a shoulder strap system that I find to be comfortable, without being forced to carry a pack larger than I need on certain hikes or trips.
