- Taven hears what Shao Kahn and his buddies are up to, and then he fights Raiden, who proves to be the toughest enemy so far. Odd, because everybody tells me Raiden is the easiest to beat in the whole game.

Shang tsung and quan chi yes,shao Kahn or shinnok? Absolutely not. This is Armageddon Onaga which is weak he only has his own power not the power of the kamidogu which made him super powerful. Wouldn’t anyone be all powerful if they had the possession of all the realms powers? Essentially that’s what the kamidogu are the essence of each individual realm which Onaga possessed in deception so he WAS very powerful and the strongest WITH that handicap and I knew he’d be a lot weaker in Armageddon but sadly he’s even weaker than I expected on his own without any power ups. He can still defeat most of the cast on his own but his credibility in power went away when it was provoke the kamidogu is the majority of the power he possessed before and main reason he was strong. In armageddon he flat out stated he FEARED Shinnok and shinnok himself went to Onaga offering him servitude and flat out saying he’d give Onaga the thrown of outworld back if Onaga agreed to restore shinnok to full power himself. Onaga himself was worried of this same exact scenario and feared shinnok as it was but said he’d be amongst the dead if this plan played out. Onaga himself said he’d defeat shao Kahn kill blaze and gain that power to defeat shinnok…..it’s obviously stating Onaga believed shinnok is the strongest as Onaga feels he can defeat shao Kahn on his own but can’t defeat shinnok unless he attained
Blazes power and if he believes this it would mean shinnok would be stronger than shao Kahn too bcux in order for Onaga defeat shao Kahn Onaga would need to be stronger but he wasn’t he lost to shao Kahn in Armageddon and Onaga still feared and was shinnoks minion and Onaga is the last Person even more so than shao Kahn to serve anyone unless they were actually superior. ended basically Onaga fears and was shinnoks minnion in Armageddon so yes shinnok even being weakened himself is still apparently stronger than Normal Onaga and shao Kahn evidently happened to be stronger than Onaga as well as he’s the one that directly killed him. Kahn killed Onaga and Onaga feared shinnok and worshipped him so no Onaga wouldn’t “destroy them all” like you claim. Know the story of Armageddon how Onaga was shinnoks minnion he feared him and Onaga would never even fake an alliance with anyone if he could flat out defeat them which evidently he couldn’t with either shinnok or shao Kahn. I think shinnok was the strongest then shao Kahn then Onaga in these events. Shao Kahn was the strongest when he attained blazes power though. I love Onaga but his power is overrated as most of his power ppl believe to be Onaga being strong is just him having had a major power up in his introduction game and that was it

BTW, as you can see, the fact that Raiden lost to Shao Kahn in MK9 was because of his trust in their agreement.

Though Raiden struck a deal with Shao Kahn to spare Earthrealm if Taven was prevented from completing the quest, I know that Shao Kahn would NOT honor the agreement. Even if Raiden did stop Taven, I'm sure Shao Kahn would still conquer Earthrealm.
I wouldn't put it passed him to go back on his word.
The same can be said for Quan Chi.
Shao Kahn + Quan Chi are 2 of the biggest traitors in the MK universe.

In Shao Kahn's Mortal Kombat Deception bio, he reveals that he wasn't killed during MK3, only weakened.
He made a clone of himself to distract his enemies while he went to hide in the wild and heal from his wounds. The Kahn who got killed in the intro to Deadly Alliance was not the original Kahn.
And it took about 8-10 Earthrealm years for Shao Kahn's wounds to heal. Liu Kang must have given him a serious whooping. He left Kahn in a full body cast, 7 broken ribs, 2 acl tears, 19 concussions, a herniated disk, a broken arm, a quad tear, a broken nose.

And while Onaga was very powerful in deception it was revealed he was only super powerful because of the kamidogu….I love Onaga think his backstory is very interesting and unique as is Shinnok but truth be told Onaga was only super powerful because of possessing the kamidogu in deceptions events. If any character possessed the power of all of the realms then that would make anyone extremely powerful. If shao Kahn had it good luck he’d be even more of a threat than Onaga had the kamidogu and if shinnok had it he’d be stronger than shao Kahn with it and the worse threat of all and kiss goodbye to all of existence even faster! It’s a simple logic that ppl don’t want to accept here that Onaga was super powerful due to the kamidogu he surpassed shinnok and shao Kahn because of it but he’s weaker than shao Kahn and was killed despite not fearing shao Kahn in Armageddon and he feared shinnok and agreed to be his minion meaning he considers shinnok superior to botu shao Kahn and himself as he feared shinnok and didn’t challenge him yet didn’t fear challenging Kahn yet still lost. If shao Kahn or shinnok had the kamidogu it would be making them stronger than Onaga wihr kamidogu SO point is Onaga with kamidogu shouldn’t even be a fair comparison in Onaga true power as it was never HIS power to begin with and if you want to compare them at their real powers wihr any power ups shaonkahn did defeat him and he didn’t have his soul boost he had in the story of mk3 he was basically normal Kahn from mk2 that challenged and defeated normal Onaga. And shinnok was nowhere near full power he was weakened without his amulet and Onaga still flat out stated he feared shinnok. He even flat out said he would defeat shao Kahn which didn’t happen and then kill blaze in order to defeat shinnok. Onaga basically wanted to defeat shao Kahn for pure vengeance revenge of having dethroned Onaga in the first place but believed he could defeat Kahn on his own but not shinnok unless he had blazes power. I still believe Onaga is a powerful being even though he’s very weak compared to his deception self. He’s stronger than Shan’s tsung Quan chi but he’s the middle power villain here and the weakest of the big three beint him shao Kahn and shinnok with shinnok being the strongest then shao Kahn. It’s just funny to me people really believe Onaga is as strong a character naturally as he was shown in deceptions events which was proven not true as without that major kamidogu plot he is basically

You mean single-handedly take on Shao Kahn, The Dragon King, Quan Chi and Shang Tsung inside Kahn's fortress?
He's only a half god main story character of this MK game and occasionally even has trouble beating normal humans.
3 of those four have been the final bosses in previous MK games, 2 of them have been rulers of entire realms and 2 are the most feared sorcerers of any realm and once took everyone in the entire MK world out when they joined forces.
Taven would have no chance in hell.
How do you know he has trouble beating normal humans? When you fight them, it is only shown through gameplay. The player can easily defeat them or barely win. Canonically, It's more likely he destroys those humans in the fight. Don't forget: despite only being half god, he defeated full gods like Raiden and Fujin. He definitely couldn't beat all 4 of these guys at the same time though, especially Onaga, who was unaffected by a combined blast from Raiden, Shang Tsung, and Quan Chi

I love how Onaga whines, hoe Shao Kahn gets up from the throne and teleports next to Onaga and roasts the Dragon King down. Also how Onaga walks so thicc"ly after saying "TO WAR!" is also awesome. All together combined its a weird, amusing, old-skool-cringe, a very deeply written robust animation scene to watch! I'm a bit against PS2 Mortal Kombat cutscenes to be honest. The voice acting is horrendous, Shang Tsung's voice feels out of place for his age, and Quan Chi feels like his voice is still overly mutating. These are my 2 cents though, not trying to offend you or anything, this is merely my opinion.

I love people love to pick and choose bits of the story they want. Yes Onaga WAS far superior to Shao kann originally but after that event shao kahn grew stronger and stronger over time eventually far stronger than he was during onagas reign and eventually surpassing his master through gaining battle experience soup absorptions over time as well as merging realms. Mk2 is basically normal base shao kahn that is shown to us in the story of mk which is long after onagas death. By this point shaonkahn was stronger than Onaga originally was and shao kann grew much stronger than his self in mk3 when he absorbed earths souls. Even shinnok who is everyone’s superior starting watching shao kahn at that point in time. In deception Onaga was aware of the events of mk1-3 and all the time before and until that point where shao kahn grew far stronger than

This proves kahn of mk2 era which was the most recent shao Kahn without any power ups which is basically the Kahn we see here in Armageddon who wasn’t as a strong as his mk3 self wss surpassing Onaga after his death. Also Onaga feared and agreed to servitude of shinnok. Shinnok himself went to Onaga and offered him his throne back if Onaga agreed to help shinnok himself claim his own full power back and Onaga feared shinnok. So both are more powerful than Onaga in Armageddon. Onaga was stronger than both in deception but it was only due to the kamidogu without them he’s not that strong if he feared a weakened shinnok and was defeated by an also weakened shaonkahn and yes right here in this meeting Onaga was basically sent and taking orders from shinnok himself

Sure but this dark raiden was not the same dark raiden of mkx mk11 d in shinnoks story he created the amulet to infuse the majority of his elder gods power within so the elder gods cannot fully strip him of his power only separate it from his body in an amulet and his tittle as elder god. When raiden attained shinnoks amulet he essentially attained shinnoks elder god power at least to a point. Perhaps he didn’t tap into shinnoks elder god powers 100% maybe like half to 80% of it as only shinnok alone and can fully tap into the amulet 100% as its shinnoks own power within. But point being dark raiden now is way stronger than the old dark raiden seen here. Dark raiden here is just normal raiden turned dark but dark raiden from mkx mk11 is essentially an evil raiden that contains elder god level power being thru shinnoks power being trapped in the amulet and raiden wielding it. In doing so shinnok did not have his own power but raiden did which is why he seemed so weak and raiden so powerful. This raiden probably would defeat everyone in the original timeline. The new dark raiden is extremely powerful and much more dangerous because of it he’s a lot more powerful than the dark raiden in Armageddon. He was strong enough to be a villain on his own lol too bad they didn’t make him main villain

That's the thing, I have no clue. I don't play the game. I did pick it up again yesterday after over a year of not playing it and played around in KAK, but basically I haven't played it so whatever came out of the button smashing, which in this case is a pitiful 13%, was enough for me then.
It's more than likely that there's more combos than the three I use in the walkthrough.
He apparently turned evil when he sacrificed himself or his soul for destroying some evil and then he became corrupted. I don't know the MK lore too well.

@catlyana13 Raiden or Dark Raiden as he is called in MKD & MKA struck a deal with Shinnok and Shao Kahn to leave Earthrealm unharmed if he aligned himself with them which he also did this so he can spy on Shinnok and Shao Kahn to see what their plans were which does not sound bad but in the end Earthrealm would be independent and away from the heat of battle. Does this make sense?

shinnok can make an illusion of onaga(without amulet with his powers intact) and have it kill all them of; then he can make an illusion of liu kang to beat the real onaga
Nope this isn’t Onaga from deception in Armageddon he didn’t have the kamidogu which is the only reason he was so powerful and he feared and served shinnok in the cannon story of Armageddon and was also later cannon Defeated by shao Kahn and one of the three were amped. Shinnok literally belittled Onaga by having Onaga being forced into servitude and fearing shinnok. Onaga himself said he’d get blazes power in order to defeat shinnok how much more info do you need thst he obviously can’t take on shinnok and also Kahn who killed him. You can be strong and take out most of the cast without needing to be the strongest and clearly Onaga was the underdog of the three here. He was still a lot stronger than Shang taunt and quan chi though. But yes Onaga already served shinnok in Armageddon. Lots of people don’t know this hr was he sent to spy on shao Kahn.
The Onaga that was the one you claim to be was the one with the kamidogu and the kamidogu are basically the power of each realm so even if nitara or Shang tsung had this power they’d be the strongest too and we know without it he’s not so using the kamidogu as a source of onagas power which never was his is pointless as he doesn’t have that anymore band it wasn’t his. Also shinnok attained the kamidogu and took it a step further he merged them and became the one being which is far stronger than Onaga with the kamidogu so if you wanna use kamidogu into this then shinnok still wins either way. Again this is Armageddon’s Onaga which was a lot weaker but in fact he was so weak without the kamidogu that he feared a weakened shinnok and was killed by a weakened Kahn. They were all weak after their mk3 mk4 and deception defeats.
How to defeat a THUNDER GOD:
Let him come close to you (he will be next to you) and parry before he attacks you a second later.
Even when he teleports he stands there for a while. Parry a second later and he'll start attacking you (of course parries will stun Raiden, giving you a chance).
Be careful though: Raiden will counterattack if YOU get too close and he'll block most of your special moves and attacks (if you are on offense).

@JohnnyDFox he had sacrificed himself to try to destroy the dragon king when he had come back alive by deceiving shujinko to get the kamidogu. after being reborn in earthrealm, his soul ended up getting corrupted.
It's funny to think that Shao Kahn is going to take over the drone and neutralize the Dragon King and all his minions loyal to him.

theres a rumor going around(at leats when deception had been released) that raiden was corrupted by the one being, since only the elder gods arent afected by his will but i dont know were that puts raiden and the other gods that are below the elder one

Just hold Block and hit an attack button when an enemy hits you with your block up. You automatically do a Breaker.
they are called breakers, they can be used to stop combos at any time
