    Great video. Your video has some great information. Allot of folks recommend having the parts balanced. I read that On the Garret Turbos that all the components are balanced individually? Does balancing matter when you purchase a new turbine and a compressor wheel?

    nice video. Thanks. for making it. It would be nice if you said the Ft/Lbs specs on the Compressor wheel and other bolts but great video. I just rebuild mine completely from watching yours and I've never opened a turbo before.

    I'm in the process of rebuilding my LLY turbo. My Vane Piston o rings were basically gone when i pulled it out. I put the correct ones with the square edges. Now the piston is hard to move around with the little vane ring handle. Is it supposed to be hard to move in and out with new o rings?

    Can I take the 10 blade exhaust wheel/shaft assembly and compressor wheel out of a Garret Powermax for an 05 6.0 powerstroke and swap them into my stock LML duramax turbo?

      Grill paint. It's made by rustoleuem. It helps prevent rust

    Great video! I hope you’re still answering questions on this video. Is there a tear down video? I can’t seem to separate The bearing housing from the turbine housing. I’m afraid to break something. Also how to you balance shaft. Where I live they just order new turbos no one fixes them. Can you rebuild without balancing or am I asking for trouble?

      You need to remove the turbine housing evenly with a big hammer. You don’t have to hit it so hard, you just need the mass from the hammer

      You don’t have to rebalance it because the compressor wheel is threaded it will line up the same every time. If the wheels are damaged you may want to sand them down if possible and have it balanced

    Hopefully you can help me . I got a 08 dmax . Can't go over 2000 rpm a bunch of black smoke no power and the turbo is doesn't whistle anymore . What could it be . Thanks

    Hey i gotta question, the compressor side back plate, do you know anyone who sales them? that little piston ring seal burnt up from oil stavation on my 6.0. and i believe it hurt the backplate.. Does anyone sell the compressor backing plate?

    I installed a he531v into my car as an entertaining project. I was wondering if you could share a video on how the vgt shroud plate can be properly removed from the turbine housing without damage. I see that the are setup to be spun around but have not been able to pull one out and reinstall one safely. I see some kits sell new shroud plates so I assume this is not impossible

    Could I use luberplate on the shaft instead of oil?

      I prefer to use oil because it’s easy to check for resistance in the cartridge. If there is resistance In the cartridge a piston ring seal is bent on install Ora case in other models is the oil deflector was not pressed down all the way or the bearing housing wasn’t machined for the larger collar.

    Quick question. My turbine housing clamp broke. Do you think it’s possible to separate the mating surfaces just enough to slide a new clamp in place without pulling the turbo from the vehicle?

      No it’s not possible, you need to remove the turbo

      No. Not enough space to do it. It happened to me 2 days ago. Fortunately i have a c5500 kodiak, so i can slide the turbo out from the rear theought the access cover.

    Will a wicked wheel for a stock 2005-2007 turbo thread right on? I’ve heard there’s a difference in size.

      Factory seize wheel is 56 x 82 for 2005-2007, 2003-2004 had a 59 x 82, the upgraded wheel we use is 63.5 x88x94. You need the machined housings to match

      +Andrew Crabtree yes. 63.5 X 8& X 94 compressor same as gt4088, 2003 10 blade turbine. I'm working on coming out with upgraded cover and wheels to sell for these but I'm still in the process. I want to make a few more compressor options and some larger turbine options but it's just a process over time.

    Used your rebuild kit. On First Test drive after install I developed a howl that wasn't there before. Any answers to that? Also the paper gasket for oil feed failed immedietly, slowly seeping all around it. How should I remedy that?

      It’s possible your bearing is stuck or the wheels are damage and out of balance and need to be replaced

      No, there are variations, they really just use the same rebuild kit on the lly as the 6.0. The vanes on some were the same, the unison ring is the same but the housings are all different

    Nice Vid.
    My Borg Warner turbo had a 82mm compressor wheel.
    It was machined to an 85mm compressor wheel.
    Where can I get a 10 blade compressor wheel?

    Unison ring is poorly designed. It needs two actuators 180 apart, not just one.
