Anybody else really tired of the whole "DAY ONE CLEAR" bullshit that is spreading around these ultra hard standing quest? It's almost always from content creators too, be it twitter or youtube, though I don't know who started it. It's elitist, it's callous, it's pointless. As if that was any more of an achievement than completing it any of the following days, at least before new augs or some other power boosts are released. It only serves to make people who were unable to find a group to clear it with feel worse about their predicament, of which they were probably already fully aware.
I cleared it day 1 too, with 227% pot (no gran giga), and I was the 2nd best equipped in the group. You don't see me putting it in giant letters on thumbnails and in titles.
Krono at least just subtly mentioned it in his description; not in the title or thumbnail, so I appreciate that.
I can't recall this elitism existing when Dark Falz R2, or Solus R1, or even Malevolent Aegis released, so I consider it a recent festering among the community.
Calling it "first clear" is totally fine. Calling it "first day experience," showing all the failures and funny deaths, that's fine too. "First day clear" or "day 1 clear" is my issue.
Maybe I'm alone in this feeling, but I think it would be nice if the creator community of NGS could phase out that phrase entirely.
1 its not an NGS thing its a gaming thing in general and on youtube your either play the yt game or you suffer and 2 everyone wants to be proud of their accomplishments. If its not your vibe then just dont interact with them. Its not saying "i cleared day one so im better then you" its saying "i cleared the first day it was up". D2 does this, FFXIV does this with week 1, WoW does this with ahead of the curve. Its all just gaming culture friend its not that big of a deal
@@KronoKatastrophy Like I said, it's no more of an accomplishment than any other day that follows, before the next update that increases power, anyway. Be proud of the clear, sure. Specifically calling out that it's day 1? That's what I take issue with. Only Sega has the clear stats, but I'm willing to bet that the majority of people who clear it at all (within that period before the next update), clear it on the first day too*, so pointing it out like it is specifically a bigger accomplishment is all the more factitious.
And sure, D2, ff14, wow, and plenty of other MMOs have toxic behavior in their communities as well. That doesn't excuse this microcosm of PSO2 creators following suit.
You do bring up a legitimate point with the youtube algo, which I have no experience with, but I doubt it applies to twitter that much at all. I respect the hustle, though.
*Note that this does not apply to solo 1st day clears. More power to them, they can go nuts, and go about it however they want.
Honestly I feel like "Day 1 Clear" is probably the least toxic way to celebrate the achievement
Reason people make a point about clearing on day 1 is because chances are you cleared it without any prior knowledge or guides _meaning_ you had to figure it out all yourself. Yes, a lot of people can do that / did also clear on day 1, but that doesn't make it any less satisfying to have done.
To me at least, I feel like saying "day 1 clear" has more ability to bring people together as many can relate to having cleared it on day 1, than it does to tear people apart. Likewise, as Krono says about the Yt game, not mentioning that this was a clear very early on in it's release; some players may come back to this like 6 months later and hound said day 1 clears (if not mentioned) for being "trash" players because "how can you die to xyz / don't you know your class / you're so bad for taking x minutes to clear it only takes 8" just as they're unaware it's day 1 (some people genuinely just don't check / are unaware of dates so); so still, I don't think it's as harmful of a trend as you may feel it is.
Likewise congrats to you for clearing on day 1! Like everyone else that cleared after straight after maint, hope you enjoyed it / found friends / was brought together closer with those you cleared with
